For the love of Pete, and for the millionth time...could somebody please tell me how fish isn't a meat?

In the original Latin, Catholics were to abstain from "carnis".

In Latin, "carnis" means the flesh of warm-blooded animals.

So it doesn't necessarily equate to "meat".

So, Catholics can eat fish, shrimp, frog legs, lobster, etc because they are not warm blooded and thus not "carnis".

Believe me, if there's a loophole, we Catholics will find it. :P

I had an Aunt who gave up alcohol for Lent.

I went to her house on a Sunday and she was drinking.

I asked her about it and she said that because every Sunday is a celebration of the Resurrection, it is not part of Lent.

She was right. Count the days, Lent is 40 days only if you take out the Sundays.

March 9 - April 24 (47 days - 7 Sundays = 40 days)
