The Brewers/Pirates camo hats.well having a 231 hat hat collection means that now I'm obssessed with getting those one-off caps.It made me think about adding the Opening Day Gold Champions hats that teams wear. So my question is when did that trend start? I know the Giants did it this year and the Yankkes last year and I thought the Cardinals and Red Sox had done it but can't find a pic.I see the Phillies had the gold lined uniform but no hat. They're the ones who started it all, back during Opening Day 2005.You can see the gold around Alan Embree (No. 43)'s uni number in the pregame shot.But the Red Sox (unfortunately) didn't wear a one-off gold cap. Actually there's only a few left if anyone was interested.I thought I'd be searching Ebay forever like I did for the Rays Plaid bill which I eventually just paid full price for. Over .500 the whole time and just a few games out of the playoffs. Anyway, the Giants didn't wear the gold unis for their home opener. I was at that game. They wore them the next night during the ring ceremony. The Giants definitely bling'd the gold out harder than any other team. The Yanks were the first to have the gold outline on the cap, but they never wore it on the field. I love the gold outlined caps and hope its a trend that continues.
