FunnyHeadlines
The three most highly awaited players, Boris Teel, the highest ranked player in the country, Alexander Paul, who won the High School Nationals this year, and David Becker, who won the Rookie Convention Tournament, were all picked in the first round, Teel going to the Chill, Paul to the Whales, and Becker to the Liberty. Surprisingly, the Kings did not pick one of them with the first pick, deciding instead to go with the 9th highest ranked player, Stephen Pryce. Jacobson falls under criticism for this move, many saying that he could have at least gone with the second highest rated, Ivan Blackbourne. Jacobson states the day after that his scouts suggested that Pryce was a sleeper and to get him before anyone else did. He said he was confident in his scouts' ability (he had known some of them for a very long time), and that he stands by his decision.
