Jaguars Concept

Spending 2 hours on my Titans concept last night really got my juices flowing, so this morning, I started another one. Heres a neat redesign of the Jaguars. I left the helmet, but modernized the jersey and pants. Also, I brought back Teal as the primary color on the road uniform, because the recent switch to black has really bothered me. My 3rd uniform originally had teal stripes only, but I added gold to the neck stripes for a second (not liking it), but as i went to edit other stuff, it slowly grew on me. So, i left some gold in there on the 3rd uniform stripes, tell me what you think about that.

(Updated) I took off the black pants on the third jersey, and replaced them with white. The stripes, once again, are supposed to be rips from scratches, not animal stripes. But if you see it that way, then criticize me for it as much as you please. I still like the black stripes on the home and away, and the assorted style on the 3rd uniform. Some of yall may not dig it at all, but Im just showin off what I like! I'm making a site with college replicas, nfl replicas, and concepts, and this all is going towards that (you might have seen my other stuff, using the same template, for college replicas). I've started to do the entire NFL, starting with the AFC South...so expect Texans and Colts!

i threw up...

Yeah, I went there. And sure, I guess I'll be serious here. I like the sleeve stripes but on the two main jerseys they should not be black. Maybe gold on the homes and teal on the aways. Same with the pants stripes, except maybe switch those? I also don't like the black numbers on the aways, maybe make those gold... and the angled serif on top of the 5 bothers me for some reason. The Alt should not be monochrome, I think you should make the pants gold or teal or something then make one of the pant stripes white depending on which you choose. Other than that, and the helmet logo being huge, I really like it a lot for the Jags. I wouldn't mind that at all. However, as Bucco pointed out, this might better suit the Bengals cause Jags have stripes. Lol, I didn't even notice that at first. But mow it just seems silly.

You know...that pants stripe would be an excellent route for the Bengals to take.

Based on its own merits...I don't really think this is all that bad a design at all. It just don't fit right with the Jaguars, because jaguars have spots instead of stripes.

Keep at it though...and see where you go with this. I've seen a lot of Jaguars concepts...but it's just really tough to develop a real standout design for this squad for some reason (or at least it has been for me). It may be because most people's mind immediately goes to trying to figure out how to incorporate the spots into the design someway and/or somehow without making it look tacky.

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

you now my intention for the stripes was "scratch marks", the pants should have somewhat of a ripping look to them. I see where they look like stripes, but in my head they were rips from scratches all the way! which I thot was a great original idea at the time. And I think ill make a switch to white pants for the black uniform.

I just wanted to say something, GoDawgs. In retty much every concept of yours, you use words which makes it seem like you really love your concept. This one, you used the words "cool" and "neat" to describe it. I find this very annoying, and I know I would respect you (and your concepts) a lot more if you didn't do it. It is especially annoying when put it in the subtitle of the concept. I'm not trying to be mean here, just honest; I think that it is much more professional when you let other people judge your concept, and don't do it yourself.

well you know what, considering this is a hobby and not a profession, I'm really not concerned with the professionalism of my concepts. Maybe I really do like them, even though I'm up for all criticism, thats why I post. I do this completely for fun, and dont expect anyone to ever agree with me. So If my tooting bothers you, just dont click on it.

GoDawgs, I think they look great!!! The only thing is the shoulders on the road jersey... Is there any way to use gold scratches with black outlines? The black on white just doesn't seem quite right.... Well done.

These are both Neat and Cool, and as far as professionalism goes.... there is nothing wrong with self promotion, Elliot could take a lesson on that!!! This forum is recreational... deal with it!!!

Aesthetically, it's not a bad looking set, although you should include gold in the jersey and pants. But you might also want to consider the old (and slightly paraphrased) saying, "a Jaguar can't change its spots." Why you would go with something so closely resembling tiger stripes on a Jaguars concept is beyond me.

Why would you put rip or "scratch marks" on the uniforms? Wouldn't that give the impression that the wearer was recently attacked and mauled by some animal? That would be like putting fake blood on the uniform too. Or if the Eagles / Falcons / Ravens / Cardinals / Seahawks put bird :censored: on their jerseys.

thats the reason i left the stripes solid colors, outlining them makes it seem as if the jersey was actually ripped. I just thought claw marks would be a great, and original way to put stripes on a Jaguars jersey, instead of the same old stripes teams have these days.

Oooh, calling me out on your tenth post, nice. Yes, this forum is recreational, thanks for the update. However, presenting your ideas in a more professional way sometimes makes people like it more.

GoDawgs, there is no need to get mad, I was merely trying to help you out with some advice. But if you don't want me to post on your thread, then I guess I won't.

I wasn't getting mad, but if you want others to judge rather than me, then why don't u judge instead of complaining about something as stupid as my word choice. :)

Yeah, Elliot... Granted, that was only my 10th post. However I've been surfing as a non-member in here for a long time. Long enough to have seen you do this (unconstructive criticism) a few other times to other designs & designers... Up until now I've just kept quiet about it.

GoDawgs, thanks for the explaination on the black stipes (w/o Gold). Completely understandable.

I was under the impression you had to be a member to 'surf' here?

As for the concept, I think the Jaguars are a tough nut to crack (so to speak). (Honestly, I hate their color combination, and if they insist on keeping gold as part of their scheme, then go back to what they wore in '97. It was a somewhat timeless look with block numbers as opposed to their funny ones they have now, and no ridiculous black jerseys or pants.) A normal animal's claws would not make marks like that on material, unless said animal had very deformed paws/talons etc. The marks would instead be much more evenly spaced. Perhaps if you illustrated claws in gold coming through the black "rips" in the jersey and made them three evenly spaced, tapered stripes, then it would look a lot more like clawmarks? I like the black on teal on white look of the home jersey, but I don't like the black jersey or pants. Really, the Jaguars are an enigma because of their difficult color scheme, and you've certainly not solved it. It's a miss for me. Sorry.

Uh, I also fail to see how uncontrollable praise such as Great, Cool, Neat!!!!!!! I love it!!!!! Elliot is ignorant and demeaning!!!!!!!!1 is constructive criticism. Okay, you offered one tiny part of advice in between Great Work!!!!!!!! I love it so much!!!!!!

Besides, Elliot has a point. It's a simple thing that may get more C&C for him in future endeavors. If that's the case, why not? Nothing to lose (besides the notion of referring in public to his creation as "Cool" and "Neat.") It doesn't bother me as much as some people, but if it bothers some people it's worth stopping so he can achieve his goal of getting some (ehem, quality) C&C. It's not exactly a personal attack, as you seemingly make it out to be. Plus, You have to be registered here, I believe, to lurk. (Unless you're the new Nick :P). So I don't know how you could have formed that opinion, especially when it's not really true.

I don't mean to scold you, rather offer some truly constructive criticism on when and how not to call out other members.

Edit: Damn, sorry, double post.

OK, this is the last post I am going to make regarding this.... If the Dawg wants to say "cool" or "neat", frankly that's none of your business, or mine or Elliot's or anybody elses here or anywhere. C&C should be directed towards the created work, not the creators manner of describing it. There, done.

Ging, I do not consider this a scolding at all, and really, I appreciate your point of view and your right to express it. (I have changed out the sig, call off the dogs....J/K) Also, there are ways around having to be registered to get in here, trust me. (And I already know how not to "call out" other members, not the route I chose. but thanks.)

Elliot, I apologize for making it seem like I was implying a personal attack, my intention was soley directed at the "misguided focus" of the post (and a couple of older ones).

I realize that I have now called out 2 members, sincerest apologies, I am considering the matter closed... I trust there will be no further issues between (the three of) us.
