  1. Not sure about the way the crest is recolored on that Thorns away... just looks odd. Otherwise both the designs are fine, shame their sponsor has apparently rebranded to a Times New Roman generic wordmark.
  2. Because otherwise it's just bog-standard tanking, which is nothing new but you can't build a brand around it.
  3. The MBA-ization of baseball has literally killed the sport, so this is a wild take. Who cares? Business school is for people with no talent but lots of money and privilege.
  4. That’s back-to-back wins for the Celtics over Memphis and Brooklyn, and Tatum is staking his claim to elite status… I’m not dwelling on their ugly games against like Washington in November. Celtics back, folks!
  5. Suddenly haven't heard much from the "Ime Udoka is a quota hire" crowd!
  6. For those with an Athletic sub, there's a fun read of an anonymous survey of MLS team GMs et al. https://theathletic.com/3162180/2022/03/03/2022-mls-team-executive-anonymous-survey-candid-views-on-owners-coaches-players-and-cheating-around-the-league/ Many good quotes but my favorite is:
  7. This is a hilarious scandal. Very MLS-esque in that it excuses the richest men in the room from maintaining a professional standard for their labor under the guise of "sustainability".
  8. Nashville was away and has a perfectly good dark purple kit that presumably exists for games like this. It's like somebody is in charge of the league selling secondary kits but nobody's in charge of stepping in and using them where they ought to be.
  9. Seattle green vs. Nashville yellow was not an easy watch. This screencap is generous, parts of the movement and areas of the pitch made it look worse.
  10. This is where I am with it. Love the concept, but the rose placement felt odd to me from the start, and in practice I thought the “rose” effect was somewhat lost and they just looked like giant maroon splotches on the shirt.
  11. It is odd to me that we've got so many different names for different blues on these graphics (Zenith! Easy Blue!) but then Columbus and Nashville's different shades shirts are both simply "Yellow".
  12. Colorado Creeks Seattle Lakers New England War of 1812
  13. I’ve never seen anyone but the diehards pay attention to CCL. Could be many reasons for that, but curious to see how the Leagues Cup will be different. Also, lol, NYCFC is playing their second-round home match in Hartford again.
  14. My assumption on the keeper kit situation is that it has more to do with the World Cup being a half-year later than usual, and Adidas wanting to hold on rolling out its next line in closer conjunction to that. Can’t spoil it a full MLS season before.
  15. PDX's carpet has been a local meme since before we even called them memes. Kind of ridiculous and painfully Portland, sure. But by the criteria of the City program it is a slam dunk.
  16. Even by the standards of the modern NBA, it was a little weird to have "generic graffiti" wordmark AND "Jean-Michel Basquiat deepfake graffiti" wordmark at the same time.
  17. I'm sorry but the halftone photo of some guys felt silly and un-logo-like even when it was brand new. They were right to get rid of that (and the Copperplate typeface).
  18. I know it's uncouth to think this way in MLS 5.0 but the Brazilian- and Portuguese-American markets remain largely untapped by MLS in the midst of the singular focus on converting Liga MX fans. Put those guys in Newark or Foxboro and we're in business (for the wrong reasons).
  19. Maybe it's a situation like the new Revs logo, where the club will also use the wordmark-free version wherever possible but seems to believe that the wordmarked version is what needs to go on the kits. Though again, I point to Chicago. In this case, losing the words really improves the logo; the proportions go from strange to passable.
  20. Kind of wish the teams that regularly play in outdoor games could just have a regular, designated "heritage" fauxback and wear that a few times. The outdoor game shtick has now been around long enough that it feels like the well is running kind of dry, which is what these Buffalo/Toronto jerseys seem to suggest. I can't imagine what's left for the Bruins to go back to next year.
  21. Also interesting that the old "light/dark" thing seems to have gone out the window. Columbus are back to having a yellow kit and a grey/white kit, no black. The same orange is "dark" for NYCFC but "light" for Cincy.
  22. “Creator kit” that’s just a black and white shirt, give me a break! Orlando looks nice, but I can’t help but wish the gradient was just the whole of the shirt; still would’ve worked well as a clash option, but Orlando just always demand a white base I guess.
  23. IDK, Fanatics is definitely saying silver name/number printing, which leads me to believe that the front sponsor and stripes are more silver as well. Especially contrast with the "Dude Wipes" (lmao) sponsor on the sleeve which looks more decidedly white.
