I really like the Lions new endzone. Very unique compared to what they have been sporting the past few years. And SF needs to keep this endzone. Only thing better is the endzone in red.

Yea, the word mark and "Bubbles" looked a lot fainter than previous years. Almost as if they used a thinner style of field paint. It looked almost transparent in places.

Outside of the previously docmented changes. Arizona: now using bolder number font. Striping is still on the 20 yard line. Minnesota: Numbers bordered in Purple, striping moved from 20 to 25 yard line. New Orleans: Field looks new, all standard lines (Yard lines, Enzone, field numbers, and the 2 yard border) extremely bright white. With Logos, hash marks and yard marks fainter. Detroit: Possibly using field "Patch" for Lions logo ("Bubbles") in the center of the field.

Small Update to the skins Packers field. The helmets where a bit narrower towards the center of the endzones. And the Face mask bars where a singlebar style (Much like Theisman's own helmet) for both sides. Both Green Bay and washington where of the same design. Green Bay's was much like the
"Skin's" but with their full logo and bordered in white. The middle of the field had a very small "G" in gold only.- 1

OK I was doing some research. So for only one team has the contrasting team colors on the 25's (Vikings). I have seen them on the 20's at Indy and KC. Nothing so far from other fields yet, as most either do not use them or only have minimal striping (like Arizona) for the pre-season.

Hey pitt6pack,
With this field, there were two small lines on each yard line above the numbers. Here is the best photo I could find of it https://pipingdreams.files.wordpress.com/2011/04/tcfvikes4.jpg
Yea, those are the locations for the Numbers on an NFL Field. The practice is common for NFL stadiums with little, too no turnover time from an NFL contest to a college bowl game (Ex The University of Phoenix Stadium. Cardnials game to Fiesta Bowl layout. This was an an exampke of the reverse!)

My apologies for responding to an older post, but it bothers me that the Rams' last game in St. Louis was the undignified Color Rush. The St. Louis fans deserved better.
This thread is so gorgeous. The fine execution and attention to detail is incredibly impressive.

Regarding the two Cowboys fields, the first field would be around 1981-95 and the second one from 1996 onwards.
After looking at some video footage, yes it looks like the "classic" Large white border field was in existance from 1980-1995 with 3 to 4 diffrent variants. The very first version in 1980, I believe had the wording "Texas Stadium" in the endzone, and the "Cowboys" font was added in 1981. The "patch on the 40 YL" was installed in 1988. THe field changed slightly in 1994 with the NFL 75th Anniversary logos added in. Then in 1995 the single color "Texas Stadium" logo was painted on the 50 YL. In 1996 the first of the newer generation of artifical surfaces was installed with a tri-color "Texas Stadium" logo for a couple of years. Then in 2002 the last field was installed with no added logos, till the stadium closed in 2008.

What are the specific ranges of years used for each of these fields?
I am working on this now. Hard to pull dates off of Getty Pictures. LOL. The Lions field is from October 4th, 1994

Here is one of the old time Lions fields I have been working on. Based on a Game in October of 1994 vs Green Bay, This Lions field features a darker sliver in the end zones and helmet logo. As well as the NFL 75th Anniversary logos on the 30 yard lines, and the "Year of the Fan" logo in the opposite corner of the endzone.

Detroit Lions 1983 50th Anniversary Season
This field was one of the most unique in the history of the Pontiac Silverdome. There where few pictures of the field for that year, and it took me 5 weeks to hand draw out the 50th Anniversary logo.

I like it. The Field template looks vaguely familiar ;-) (but easily accessable on the WWW) I like Texture sources, a bit different than the ones that Pitt6pack and I use.

Okay, so it looks like I have a couple of changes to make. I'll add the square around the NFL logo (well different colored turf) and fix the numbers. I have to adjust the size and positioning of the Super Bowl logo just slightly, and then get the stadium walls the same color as the banners in places. I may not have time until later this week to work on that, but we all know what the field looked like at this point. I'm glad the game was great, even if the field wasn't.
No Problem, The game was far better than I anticipated. The field would have looked much better if it was on grass. The logs, colors and graidents in the Super Bowl logo, "pop" on a grass field, Compare SB 49 (at University of Phoenix Stadium) and SB 50 (Levi's Stadium) to SB 51 (Mersedes-Benz Superdome) and SB 52 (US Bank Stadium). Grass is a far superior surface and you dont get the "Grainy" looking logos and Endzones.

The midfield logo looks terrible. Very obvious square over where the Vikings logo was
Yea, the turf where the Viking Norseman logo goes, is most likely newer turf.

Looks like the Numbers on the field got altered to a rounded block font
