Image result for jaguars santa hat field

Not old enough to remember, but I have the picture for reference. No idea what year(s) they did this.

I will have to check, but as far as I can recall. This change was every Christmas that particular logo was used on the field. Update. That picture dates back to at least 2005 based on the Officials Uniforms. The last time for that style of uniform was Super Bowl XL in Detroit. as of 2006 the current jerseys for officials where created, and the black pants added permanently in 2012.

Oh well, Change is a commin! The black is gone from the word marks and uniforms! Just Honolulu Blue and Silver once again! Gonna have some fun with the new field design!

Looks like a tarp to keep the paint from getting messed up. The other views of the field didn't have any red paint on the actual logo. It would be an interesting change if they actually painted it on, but I don't think it would look better.

I agree, The logo looks a bit bunched in the surrounding field turf area.

I've appreciated the help, especially with some of the Cardinals and Lions fields you've done.

2017 Pro Bowl. I usually skip these, but the field is needed for the gridiron fields database, so here it is. Better than neon.

    PB_2017.png

    Ugh,

That Neon green that was used for the Pro Bowl the past couple of years was hideous!

  5. No problem with that. And with the Gridiron Fields Database in operation that is a great place to see all the fields that have been created. And I for one have enjoyed collaborating with @pitt6pack over the past couple of years in creating the templates that many are now viewing for their enjoyment.

Updates. I normalize the colors, so same reds / silvers, and made the Patriots blue darker. I resized the logos and wordmarks, and made the Falcons endzone red as well. At some point I'll have to change the colors and pattern of the wall design. Looks like they used a greenish blue in a lot of places throughout the stadium in banners and such.

Agreed with the normalizing of the colors. If I remember from SB 42 and 49 (both here in Phoenix...actually Glendale, AZ) the NFL grounds crews use the same reds, blues, whites, and ancillary colors when painting the fields. Saves $$$ and actually looks good!

I stay away from things like salute to service and the pink-tober, because it would put me down a path where I would do the kickoff weekend fields, Thanksgiving fields, play60 fields, Hispanic heritage month etc. which could mean I have to do 200+ fields a season. I don't have the time or disk space for that so I do a more generalized version of the fields that covers the basic look.

I can understand that. I am going "Koo Koo for Coca Puffs" just working on my Lions, Cardinals and SDS fields (Fiesta Bowl and BCS/CFP fields!)

This is the closest to the old fields from the Silverdome era I have seen. I miss the old Lions logo and Conference logos from that era, But this was great to see!

This is the first time I've seen this font. Does it have any official ties to the Cardinals/ASU? It does not look like an easy one to replicate, that's for sure, so it would be nice to find a digital version, or the font some place.

As far as I can tell. This was a customized font created for the Cards. It's based on the font used by ASU in the same time period, but a bolder font.

Its been a while since I have had the time to put some fields together, but I've got a bunch on the way. I'm doing away with posting the on-field logos from this point on, as a measure to save me some time.

I'll start things off with the Raiders, who are having quite a good year to this point (doesn't look too good tonight at the moment though).

I will also go back and date these fields to multiple years if applicable. The early season baseball field for the Raiders has been used for quite a while, including last season since they started off not painting the 50's gold.

Yea, the early season field has been existence for a couple of decades. (ever since the current configuration of the Oakland Coliseum was finished at least!)

I just barely signed up and I'm wondering if you're still making those Cardinals fields that you said you'll do.

If so, then I just found this video that I don't know if you saw or not

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOrlF6y3DPQ

This is a time-lapse video of Sun Devil Stadium transitioning from the Fiesta Bowl to the Week 17 game from the 2004 Season

I suggest that if you don't want to see the whole video (even if it's just 45 seconds), skip to about 17 seconds. That's when they transition the field to the Cardinals one

I have no guarantee if that was what they had the whole time there at the college field, but it was the last time that it was used until the rebrand happened

I hope this message was useful for you, and if not, you just wasted 15 minutes of my life on this reply:lol:

    Thanks,

I have seen this time lapse before. The biggest problem in recreating the Original Cardinals fields at SDS, is the custom font used for the end zones. Outside of that I have a good template for the field at SDS, that I can use!

  12. Arizona Cardinals December 24th, 2005 (Last game at Sun Devil Stadium)

Not all that much different from what they would use at the U of P the next year. Exceptions are End Zones are flipped compared to U of P stadium, and no white border around the Cardinal head logo at midfield. The entire midfield had been re-sodded prior to the game, as the grounds keepers where in the process of getting the field ready for the last Fiesta Bowl to be held at Sun Devil Stadium in a little over a week (Ohio State vs Notre Dame January 2nd, 2006)

  13. Actually beginning work on the Phoenix (Arizona) Cardinals time at Sun Devil Stadium. There where 4 distinct fields the baseline (with painted over Sun Devil markings) The more detailed (After the Sun Devils season was over), the switch to "Arizona", and the year before the U of P stadium opened (Current Graphics, but at Sun Devil Stadium.

Not a problem. As soon as I finish updating my 1983 Silverdome field (with the patch logo, man it's real bugger drawing the logo by hand in paint) and work on the two other fields (from the late 80's), with the different End Zone set ups (mostly the inversion on the colors of the word ("LIONS") the slightly changed middle helmet logo, and the first inclusion of the "Pontiac Silverdome" to the field.

San Diego's field was always an interesting breath of fresh air, though like the old Orange Bowl Stadium, got really worn out by the end of the year. Between the Chargers, San Diego State Aztecs, and the Holiday Bowl (and also recently the Poinsettia Bowl). That is a rough schedule!

Well I couldn't find a Modified Cooper Font that looked anything like it, but I found "Hamilton Clarendon Condensed 1899" that looks pretty close

Only thing different I would do is to fix the inside oval of the "O" in San Diego. It looks like it follows the interior circumference evenly.

  16. Update:

Pontiac Metropolitan Stadium aka Silverdome 1975/1976

Due to the lack of photgraphs from that era. This is the way the field would have looked for the first two years of the stadium's existance. I do believe before a national Thanksgiving game telecast in 1976 the Lions added their Helmet logo. Though I can not find any proof as of yet!

    Silverdome_1975-1976.png

  17. Here is a very old Historic Images pic of the Silverdome in 1976. The dome had deflated due to a severe storm.

Endzone was painted, Lions script smaller and closer to the goal line. No directional arrows next to numbers. I am unable to make out if the Liions helmet logo is on the "50" or not.
