Thanks for the update. I was having problems with the NFL Shield. And I can modify it to show the standard shield, as it will revert back to Red, White, and Blue this season.

I've already posted and said this field looks great. If there was some red paint in those end zones, WOW, what a field. An incredible regular season field. But I know painted end zones on a grass field in the North East climate would most likely not work out, LOL.
@RayFinkle I found A pic on Google for 2001 (But I am at work and can not post it). the pic of the 2006 field is similar, but no NFL shield or secondary "Flying Elvis" (or in the case of two end zones "Elvi") and the NFL shield did not exist on the 25 yard lines yet. Outside of that the number font and 50 yard logos are identical.

..okay one more ugly one. Again, this is just a rough sketch of it, but the 1982 AFC Championship (Jets at Dolphins) was played in the rain and mud and on an even worse field than 1985. I guess the dark green was to cover over the Orange Bowl lettering or something, but this is the best they could come up with? I am looking for my DVD copy of this game to verify the whole field, but based on what I saw from some highlights, this is what I have so far. I don't think A.J. Duhe minded how bad the field looked, however.
Yea back in the early 80's and on to the 90's (just before the Dolphins moved to Joe Robbie (now Sun Life) Stadium. The field at the old Orange Bowl was so badly torn up. Between the 'Fins and the U of Miami, and then the Orange Bowl game itself. That was one really trashed field!

Oh dear God, I remember seeing this one on TV, when I was in the US Army on AFN (Armed Forces Network), The field was is really poor shape, and the "Patriots" font looked like it was added in a hurry! The old Orange Bowl really had some of the worse fields in the NFL.

Thanks, and here is the last game at Foxboro Stadium (the tuck rule game) ...
All I can really remember about this game was the tuck rule game and my dad being really mad over that play (I guess he would have preferred playing the Raiders over the Patriots in the AFC championship). I'll see if I can get a better looking field together though that isn't covered in snow.
These are great. would you happen to know how long those particular fields were in use?
I will need to look them up!

I'd be interested to see how you were able to do that in Excel, it sounds difficult
I figured things would lighten up, especially after cutting the grass. The lighter blues do look better, and the Broncos blue is much improved over Super Bowl XLVIII
It's disappointing, but I don't mind the look too much this year, but if they stick with this endzone format there will inevitably be future problems for teams with thin wordmarks like below. I don't know if anyone designing these fields think things through or if they just wing it and copy off of the last season and try to make "improvements" or what. But this would not look good with the amount of blank space
Uck!
Perhaps they would go back to the AFC/NFC logos, or perhaps something entirely different! We shall see!

As per the Levis stadium twitter feed. The End zone for Denver now matches the shade of blue for the team box., and Carolina's "Electric Blue" looks a bit lighter!

Looking at the "Official" twitter feed from Levi's Stadium. Looks like the Broncos endzone either badly faded, or has been completely re-sodded. Possibly to match the paint color that was used for the Broncos team box. I know the rest of the field did fade and usually two to three coats of paint are used for the Super Bowl. and touch ups happen early on the day of the game.

Yep, I agree. The NFL only sodded the main part of the field (Including the 3 yard out of bounds border and the 3 yard media restraining lines). Beyond that was the original turf, which was badly discolored and worn. It is a normal policy for the NFL groundskeeper crew. Though at University of Phoenix Stadium last year they replaced the entire field tray. I guess it depends on how bad/different the turf is at the individual sites

Is there an explanation for the darker turf patch between the 40 and 35 on the bottom left? I've seen that in video clips (as well as seemingly-perpetual water stains on the turf).
The darker area is a replacement patch in the turf. The "Water Spot" stains where due to the un-even drying at Texas Stadium with the roof open Permanently.

Either this afternoon or Tomorrow! Check in on the Levi's Stadium website for updates!

Looks like the Main page for Levi's Stadium is now showing the SB 50 logos going on. Nothing on the panthers end zone yet.

OK I'm love! That is one very pretty field (Would look better if it had the Electric Blue end zone for the Panthers! ;-)

I'm thinking they will also.
I'd think they'd still go with black, that's what they have always had for their endzones, plus the border of the conference logo is gold.
I thought that the NFC logo being in the left endzone for the Seahawks in XLVIII was going to be a one time thing also, but it seems lately the crews painting the fields just base off of previous years. The fact that the side for the home teams endzone hasn't gone back to the left endzone yet is another example (it was from VII to XLIV I believe).
Well here is what I'm thinking as of now what we can see in two weeks.
i also agree. Though Denver in Orange and Carolina in Electric blue would be sweet!

Possible Fields For Super Bowl 50
Panthers vs Broncos
Cardinals vs Broncos
Panthers vs Patriots
Cardinals vs Patriots
The Cardinals endzone looks the best of the bunch, and the NFC title is up for grabs, but I think the Panthers will be moving on. The Patriots are clearly the better team going into this week, but we will see what Denver can do. Good news is we won't have two navy endzones this year.
I would hope to disagree. The Cards might be the only team who could beat the Panthers. Though it is going to be awesome not to have two Blue End Zones. Either way NFC is better than the AFC this year, IMHO. Either AZ or Carolina have both the "O" and the "D" to take out either Denver or New England (Tom Brady Included!) ;-)

Anyways, I don't mind taking suggestions for fields, I just need to make sure that there is enough I can work off of to do the field. I'm thinking next I'll do the 1981 NFC championship (the catch), which launched 49ers dynasty.
Awesome!
I loved the design of the field at "The Stick!" Saw a few games when I was stationed at "old" Fort Ord back in the Early 80's!
Municipal Stadium in Kansas city where the chiefs played before they moved to arrowhead had the opposing team end zones as well as the helmets on the 35 for every chiefs home game....and cleveland had the broncos name in the browns wordmark font for the 1986 afc championship game
The Lions also had the visitor logo/name in the "opposing" end zone in the late 60's early 70's at Tiger Stadium. That practice ended when they moved to the Pontiac Silverdome (may she Rest in Peace, or in this case "she" is rusting in pieces!)

I dont think the NBA even fully recognizes the BAA era. They do not recognize any of the player stats or records from that era, though the history of the league is counted. Very odd notation.
-
Acording to NBA.com, Wikipedia, and the Warriors own website The BAA was one of the two leagues that merged (the other being the NBL) to form the current NBA (not counting the ABA/NBA merger which is diffrent ball of wax altoghter). Current teams that where a part of the BAA/NBL merger that are currently operating in the NBA include the Boston Celtics, Phillidelphia (now Golden State) Warriors, the New York Knicks, Fort Wayne (now Detroit) Pistons, Rochester Royals (now Sacramento Kings), and the Minneapolis (now LA) Lakers. And since the BAA and NBL became the NBA. in 1949,the NBA counts those 3 years of the BAA as part of their history. I wonder if the banner change was for just to make it look more consistent, and though technicaly accurate. A bit odd.

Looks like an Arial subet font. Odd I dont remember the field so much though I was in attendance for that game. I was in 8th grade, and i got tickets with my parents and older brother who worked as an usher that year in the Silverdome.
