I'm confused... the 2024 jerseys will only have piping that goes to the edge of the sleeve but Arizona chose to make 2024 jerseys with piping that is higher above the edge of the sleeve? How did that happen and what will their sleeves look like on the field? Or is the piping to the edge thing only on replicas? Has there been any clarification on this?

I forgot about Arizona's new jerseys. This leads me to believe that the on-field jerseys will still have sleeve piping in their current positions, but the replicas will have it moved to the edge of the sleeve.

EDIT: Upon further investigation, Arizona's may technically be a 2-color sleeve trip instead, with the top half black (teal on the black jerseys). The red uniforms have black/teal/black trim on the sleeves and collar.

Not even just "or that they won't use it to draft me"? What if they drafted somebody else with the first pick? Is he THAT conceited that he thinks he should go #1 to someone other than the Bears or he won't declare?🤨

Carroll, Saban, Belichick retiring in the same offseason. Oh my God

Only Saban has officially announced he's retiring. The other two seem to plan on continuing to coach.

  5. I think Kirby Smart would be at the top of their list, but I can't see him leaving his alma mater after pretty much getting them to Alabama's level, maybe even higher. Kiffin and Sarkisian are probably on the list. DeBoer would probably leave UW, given that their moving to the Big Ten. Probably won't be able to repeat the success they've had. I wouldn't rule out Lincoln Reilly either.

Probably. After the Texas game he rocketed way up. But last night not being able to handle pressure probably tanked his value. I think he went from first or second round to third to fifth.

If it comes out he was injured, that's probably even worse, given his history.

Maybe his career trajectory is Teddy Bridgewater? Knowing what we know about him, where would he be drafted today?

I don't believe that one game dropped him 2-3 rounds.🤨

Week 1 they needed these teams to host:

DC, Michigan, St. Louis and Birmingham.

DC v. Houston game 1 in prime time.

Birmingham v. Arlington the next day in the afternoon game 1

Michigan v. San Antonio middle of the day, game 3

St. Louis v. Memphis prime time regional rivalry with huge crowd.

I get what they're trying to do but the XFL already tried to make Arlington happen in game 1 last time and it was a moderate flop. It's a baseball stadium that struggles to have atmosphere.

St. Louis can't host week 1. There's already a motocross event scheduled on March 30th at The Dome. Doubt it'd be ready in time for a game any other day that weekend.

My bias is for a sensible playoff system that builds conference identity. And I should hope that it is showing.

If two teams from the same division/conference meet in the final, that's cheesy. The CFL degrades its image every time it employs the silly "crossover"; and the New York Red Bulls' "Western Conference Champions" banner is embarrassing.

Given that this new league starts with divisions each representing a different origin (like a mini-NFL), the use of a strictly conference-based playoff system would be a natural.

You seem to think very highly of your own individual opinion and continue to disregard logic and common sense altogether when they get in the way of your portraying said opinion as if it was actually factual truth.

I admire the commitment and dedication. It's rooted in delusions of grandeur, but admirable nonetheless. Kudos to you good sir. And kudos again.

I would have been fine with a grey jersey if the pants and helmet were both blue.

Me too. They did wear the blue pants with the gray jersey in Vegas. But the gray helmet (which is a slightly darker shade) still threw it off. If they went gray helmet, blue and white jerseys and only gray pants with both, I'd be fine with it.

The possibility of a sub-.500 team winning the title exists in every league.  It was possible even in the best of all playoff systems, that of Major League Baseball from 1969 through 1993, which allowed only division champions to advance.

More important than the result in any one season is the integrity of the format.  It's always preferable to do playoffs by divisions/conferences, as this format strengthens rivalries and builds conference identity — this is doubly so in a league whose conferences start with a form of identity.  The two leagues had the playoff format right last season, and that's the one that should continue in the combined league.

Your bias is showing. And no amount of PR-speak is gonna hide it. Like @Red Comet said, this is a new league (of only 8 teams, I might add). It happening in one of the 5 major leagues is a rarity and an exception to the rule. In this new and small of a league, the best teams should be in the playoffs. Otherwise, fanbases are gonna find it hard to stick around if, in the end, having a winning team means nothing. And establishing fanbases is priority number 1 for a start-up league's success.

I am curious as to why they didn't keep the 2020 looks for the Renegades, Battlehawks, Dragons, Guardians and Roughnecks, or at least the color scheme of the 2020 Roughnecks.

Like @gosioux76 said, new supplier (Under Armour). Personally, I prefer the Battlehawks UA uniforms, but their original 2020 helmet. Also not too keen on the all-gray aways. Kinda prefer a white jersey with gray pants.

Moving away from division vs. division (or now conference vs. conference) is a mistake.  The UFL purposely divided the conferences by former league (even with the unfortunate renaming of the Gamblers).  So the championship game should further that concept by being USFL Conference champ versus XFL Conference champ.

So you're saying they should keep it as a possibility that a second place team with a below .500 record gets in over a 3rd place team from the other division with a winning record?

  13. 9 hours ago, GDAWG said:

Yes. That's what I've been saying. Something so simple, yet necessary for a league of this size. Try and get the best overall teams in the playoffs. Not taking away from Arlington. They won last year, fair and square based on the predetermined set-up. But when there are only 8 teams, 4 of whom are above .500 and one doesn't make the playoffs, but an under .500 team does, it can give a new, young league a not so good first impression and cause for not being taken seriously.

Frankly, I'm just happy the SEC doesn't get into the championship game this year. The bias is strong in the selection committee.
Hopefully with 12 teams in the playoff going forward, we'll at least see all the Power 5 conference champions make it, with a couple surprises.

There'll only be 4 Power Conferences going forward. The top 5 ranked conference champions plus the 7 highest ranked non-conference champions will make up the field.

Without knowing if this was the point @Silver_Star originally made, after looking at it again, a new AR logo would make just too much sense.

    Arlington

    Renegades

    ARlington Renegades

    AR

(Of course they could just use the cowboy logo and skip past all of that, but that would make even more sense. But then...all sense went out the window at using "Arlington" in the first place, so what the hey???)

    Absolutely

    Right

They made a huge mistake by not having the Maulers play at Highmark Stadium(the Pittsburgh one), they would have filled it up, 5,000 fans in a 5,000 seat stadium in Pittsburgh looks way better than a 500 people in a 25,000 seat stadium in Canton, Ohio.

Selling out a 5,000 seat stadium is not even the same as 50% of a 20,000 seat stadium, which would not be ideal, in and of its self. It's still only 5,000 people vs 10,000. Even for this league, 5,000 is too small.

Well folks, no more Stars, Generals, and Breakers! And the Maulers was good while it lasted. Oh well, we got this new league. I wish they use the AR on Arlington Renegades.

There is no AR logo for the Renegades. Only the DR and the (far superior) cowboy.

Literally, physically, hypothetically, realistically, they're the epitome of...well, absolutely, unequivocally and objectively some of the best football uniforms—and branding—ever of all time, at any level of football anywhere. Far as I'm concerned they're right up there with the mid-1970s-1998 Houston Oilers as all-time classics.

The original Michigan Panthers had a light blue outline around the numbers. I think removing it was a better choice. As was revamping the panther and essentially adding the pant stripe in there for further cohesion. In addition to being one of the overall best set of uniforms, it may be one of the best uniform updates I've ever seen.

MLB isn't a league name, originally or even today. As much as the two have merged it's two "Major Leagues". And Baseball is what they play. As opposed to Minor League Baseball. Summer League Baseball.  Or College Baseball.

In MLB, where is the League, Association, Alliance, Conference, Group, Organization, etc name. It's just decades of describing the two leagues combined that eventually became its name. But it's not it's league name any more than "College Football" is a 'league name'.  It's just a description of what it is.

If it were Major Baseball League, League of Major Baseball, Baseball Major League, etc...That would be different.

Yeah... none of that's right. They have, in fact, been a single entity league, as beautifully illustrated by burgundy above, since 2000. "Major League Baseball" is now no different than "Major League Soccer". All of the top leagues (NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, MLB) are major leagues. MLB kept the NL and AL designations due to the long history associated with the names. Much like the with Big Ten, despite them having 18 schools beginning this summer. Or the Atlantic Coast Conference, even though they're adding a school from Dallas... and two from the Pacific Coast.
