  1. For visual reference, the Spanish federation logo: And the national team crest: Also of note, the German kit will use white printing for obvious visibility reasons, but it clashes a bit with the understated tonal look of the rest of the kit.
  2. The US U23s are wearing change shorts that I don’t recall seeing before. Nice look!
  3. To this day, I can’t look at a photo of those helmets and rationalize how in the hell they got signed off on by so many people. No one had the guts to stand up and say, “you know what guys, this looks like utter s***”?
  4. If I had to describe the color, I’d say a shade of electric blue.
  5. This matchup was much better but still a good looking game tonight.
  6. Do the Nike CFP teams reuse their existing gear and swap out the swooshes? I just assumed they were sent fresh gear from Nike, but you can see some glue residue behind the diamond swoosh here. I have a game worn Georgia jersey (regular season swoosh, not a CFP swoosh) and it’s obvious that it’s a patch stitched on and not stitched directly into the fabric. It doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult to rip the old swooshes off and add the diamond design.
  7. My Dawgs are back in black for the second time this year. Going to be a colorful affair in Atlanta with Cincy in all red with black lids. I’d love for this to be the start of Georgia accepting alternates in a regular rotation. This is the third time this season we’ve worn alts (we also had the 1980 throwback in the season opener). Both designs are still traditional and fit within the Georgia aesthetic.
  8. Ohio State needs to switch to these permanently. They’re too good to not use full time and are easily identifiable as the Buckeyes. The other design is fine and cohesive but the vintage stripe is top notch.
  9. FSU is going with a new combo today. Horrible choice, if you ask me. There are only a few instances where having three different colors for the helmet, jersey, and pants looks good. This is not one of them. I’m okay with FSU doing black, but they either need to stick with the gold lid and pants for a twist on the classic look, or use the black pants. That black/garnet helmet was a cool change of pace as well. But this is a rough combo today.
  10. They previously had the non-matching tapered stripe on the white lid, have rotated between “F” and “Gators” decals on each side, “Gators” on both sides, updated the striping, and still have orange jerseys and pants with non-matching stripes.
  11. It doesn’t look like Florida in the slightest. They already have alternate lids with the regular white helmet as well as the throwback. Florida is going down a bad path with ever changing stripes, helmet decals, etc. Stick to the basics and throw in the white lid for a couple games per year as well as the throwback. Done.
  12. The stripe thickness looks disproportional on the Gators white lid in comparison to their orange helmet. They should in theory be applying the exact same stripe thickness since it’s supposed to be an identical stripe. These stripes are too thin. Still better than the tapered stripe. For reference: The combined orange and blue stripes on the white lid look about the same thickness as the blue stripes on the orange helmet. The orange helmet stripes also look approximately the same thickness as the jersey stripes.
  13. A couple additional looks at Florida: Much improved. I never liked the tapered stripe for the Gators. However, I feel like whenever they wear white lids, they should use the “F” logo (on both sides). That’s more in line with what they’ve done in the past. Now if only they would update the stripes on their orange jerseys and pants. Previously, the orange jersey was the only item in their set (besides the helmet) which had nonmatching stripes. See how the orange helmet and pants match but the jersey uses a different pattern. Instead of fixing the jersey to match everything else, the Gators inexplicably adjusted the pants stripes which no longer match the helmet. Now they have two nonmatching items in the wardrobe. Hopefully the white helmet change is a sign of things to come.
  14. IIRC, it was a fan led movement and then the media interviewed the quarterback and he said he wanted to wear the black jerseys but it never went farther than that. We are notorious for treating them like this super polarizing thing. Speaking of Notre Dame, I wish we used them like their green jerseys and wore them once a year. They’re too good to not use.
  15. It looks like the blackout is on at Georgia this weekend against Miss State. Always one of my favorite looks for my school. I like the block numbers. The collar is kinda cool for a one-off and won’t be too noticeable. Don’t love the bulldogs on the sleeves but the jersey is to commemorate playing with the bulldogs mascot for 100 years so I won’t complain. Hopefully this is a sign we are more willing to wear black going forward. And for the record, this is not BFBS. Our colors are red and black! I’d post the Instagram link but for some reason it’s not working so here’s a tweet about it. For reference, here is a better view: You can see how the bulldog’s collar has been modified to mark 100 years with the mascot. This is just speculation but I wonder if the tonal white outline on the numbers is to tie in with UGA’s sweater which features the same style. This is the sweater he wears for the blackout games. His usual sweater is red with a black G outlined in white. We’ve had a few versions over the years: The original surprise black jersey from the 2007 Auburn win, also used in the Sugar Bowl win that year, and unfortunately the Bama blowout in 2008. I think the 2008 version was technically a different tailoring construction but the look was virtually the same. Really liked the original block numbers. Notice how these block numbers are different than the new version. This one had a red outline whereas the new version has a tonal white outline. 2016 brought back the black jerseys after nearly a decade hiatus. Bulldog Bold font and chunky red collars. Only used once against Louisiana Lafayette in a win. When we updated the template the next season, it included new black jerseys. Same font but different tailoring with the smaller collar. This version has not been worn in any official competition. Only for recruiting photos and the spring game, which is the most Georgia thing ever.
  16. Scratch that, apparently they didn’t bother with team specific endzones this year and used the Jags font with “Jacksonville” in both endzones. This is likely due to schedule shuffling from COVID. The Jaguars were on a bye last week, the same weekend the Georgia/Florida game was originally supposed to take place before the schedule was adjusted.
  17. Looks like another new field design in Jacksonville for Georgia/Florida. The notable change is the use of the special event logo at midfield rather than the SEC logo. I prefer the SEC logo at midfield. They’ve played around with endzones designs for years (white endzones, colored endzones, grass colored endzones, etc) but the SEC logo had been used for years.
  18. They already announced which jerseys they’re wearing for the entire season. They shuffled the schedule due to COVID but their next game against Mizzou on 10/31 was already announced as a throwback which matches that tweet they put out.
  19. Interesting observation on number fonts. A few years ago, both LSU and Ole Miss used to have that Nike template with the super thick collars with the Flywire. Both schools tried a new approach to the UCLA stripes where they came much farther down the armpits. This resulted in them needing a narrower number font to fit the space. I’m pretty sure both schools used the same identical font. Since then, both schools have transitioned to the Vapor Untouchable template which uses shorter shoulder stripes. LSU has continued to use the skinny font whereas Ole Miss has reverted back to the regular numbers.
  20. A couple game shots of the Georgia throwbacks.
  21. My Dawgs are going to look absolutely gorgeous today.
  22. Not a fan of the Ole Miss alt. It’s overkill and too much of a color that’s not typical for them. The powder blue helmet worked when worn with the red and white jerseys because it was a small part of the overall uniform and it highlighted the red on the jersey and pants. It worked because the total package was traditional and cohesive. This powder blue jersey is totally disconnected from everything else. The helmet has a lot of red but there’s not a lick of it on the top or the pants. Also, the helmet has always looked like it has a hint of steel blue in it but the jersey is straight up sky blue. Wouldn’t miss them if we never saw them again. Don’t get me wrong, though, Ole Miss should make the powder blue lid the primary. It’s one of the best in all of college football.
