Was at the Atlanta United vs Columbus Crew match tonight in the supporters section (point being I was lower level and maybe 15 rows back) and I couldn’t read any of the numbers tonight. Horrible kits. Wish MLS would stop with these junk designs. Not only are they impractical from a functional standpoint, they also look terrible.

I think I’d like the Dodgers City Connect uniform with several tweaks, but as is, it’s not a good uniform. For an occasional alt, I kinda like the all blue. Use the regular cap, drop the “Los” and use the normal script and normal cap logo. Drop the sleeve trim.

The Braves are doing another replica ring giveaway tonight so they busted out the gold trimmed caps and jerseys again. I believe they are wearing their regular helmets instead of the one that had the gold “A.” No pics yet but here’s a video.

Dortmund’s kit is very good but I don’t understand the decision to break up the other stripes. There’s no need to at all.

As far as Manchester United, I thought this kit was a beauty. But still think Nike did it better.

That Liverpool kit is much better than this year’s. The trim looks like a neon red, almost orange, and has no place on a Liverpool top.

Bayern’s new kit is now official. I’m a big fan. They nailed the colors. Much better than this season’s red and dark red kit. The stripes give me 17/18 vibes. My one critique: the long sleeve needs contrasting white cuffs like the collar. It uses the same number font as last year (notable because Bayern has used several fonts over the last few years). It also includes a different Bundesliga patch and a chest shield to denote 10 consecutive Bundesliga titles. Some competition in the league is needed, but still a notable achievement - I think they’re the first in any of the big European leagues to do so.

Could have been seven if Nakobe didn’t slide to the second round and if Jermaine Johnson didn’t transfer to FSU.

My counter to that would be that FSU’s changes were more extreme with a total brand overall, new logos, gold numbers on both home and road, and heavy usage of the pattern (coming from what was a fairly traditional look). Georgia is reverting back to its standard look that it’s worn for decades, barring a stripe or collar detail here or there. What they’ve gone with is the quintessential Georgia uniform.

I haven’t heard much else regarding that. Most of my intel just comes from reading the Georgia football message boards and picking up stuff from the real insiders. I’ve heard people speculate they may keep the word marks in the endzones but that they’ve supposedly ordered new stencils for the yard markers. Not sure on other sports, yet. The new AD Brooks was heavily behind this change. He’s been great for us in his short tenure.

Trust me, the Georgia fan base has been whining about those “bubble numbers” for almost a decade, even though I agree they were pretty good by custom font standards. This has gone down as a major W for the fans.

Is this really all that different than FSU hyping up their return to white numbers? A traditional school that got caught up in the Nikeisms and brand synergy and whose fans are excited to be going back to tradition.

Of note, this is the same Vapor Untouchable template. Somewhat surprising. I’ve been expecting a new template for about two years now. They’re still using the same Nike collegiate NOB font. Some schools (like Bama) use a regular block NOB. Besides the numbers, these are virtually identical to what we’ve worn for the last couple decades. No sign of red or black pants.

The UGA Football EQ team just posted a video from the national championship “blocking” a field goal. This is definitely happening.

I’ve been hearing rumors about this for a while (I posted about it on page 2) . I think it’s finally happening. Hoping we still get a black jersey (and actually wear it) as well as red britches on the road a few games per season. The Braves Clubhouse Store had several Jackie Robinson caps on display, but about half of them had the LA Angels 42 instead of the Braves block font. Not sure on 1 and 2 but the gold outline is definitely different than the yellow tomahawk detailing. I’ve noticed they look closer in-game on the authentic jerseys, but I believe that’s mostly due to the gold sheen of real thread. Compare that to the replicas and see how they treat the two colors. Very different.

Couple in-game shots from the Braves: Also of note, it looks like they updated their batting helmet number font to a more traditional block. It used to be a strange flaired font. Curious if this was just for the gold unis or if the regular helmet decals will also be updated. This is what the number font looked like before.

The Braves batting helmets have a solid gold logo instead of the white outlined in gold like the caps. Wish they matched, but this just shows me they made the right choice on the caps.
