  1. I’ve been wondering how the Braves will handle April 8. That’s the anniversary of Hank Aaron’s 715th home run and they usually commemorate it with the 1970s feather throwbacks. I feel like they would do that if it weren’t for the gold trimmed uniforms. But then I saw this on Twitter: Perhaps a gold trim Aaron era throwback? My gut thinks this is just a fashion item but I’ll be curious to see when they go tomorrow night.
  2. I noticed some discrepancies in the Braves champions patches. You would think they’d be identical since the designs are the same on the hat and the jersey. The hat patch has a gold outline. The jersey patch does not. The jersey has red “World Series” and “2021” text, the hat has gold. The jersey has solid gold “Champions” text, the hat has white with a subtle gold texture. The jersey has a gold outlined batterman whereas the cap has the usual batterman. I think I prefer the cap patch. It seems to read better at a distance unlike the jersey patch which is very dark. The jersey patch also makes the “A” logo stick out because there’s no other white present. Maybe a combo of the two patches would be best. Take the cap logo and make the “World Series” and “2021” text red. Then you have all the colors in there. Overall, I really like the direction the Braves went. The gold is subtle and classy. I haven’t liked the other champion uniforms that emphasize the gold too heavily like gold wordmarks or numbers (except the Royals, that worked for them). What we got for Atlanta definitely still looks like the Braves and that works for me.
  3. Some pics of the Braves. Looks like the Roman numeral on the sleeve is a program wide thing now. Dodgers did it last year, too.
  4. The Braves gold collection will be revealed in an hour and a half.
  5. That Milan kit is one of the all time worst, I think. No embellishing. That’s straight up trash. Horrible.
  6. The Braves gold trimmed cap may have leaked. At first I was skeptical, but there are a few eBay listings already, all of which show the same style, including a gold New Era logo, and a white and gold MLB batterman logo on the back. There’s also a mock-up which looks like it may have been pulled from a catalog. Here are the listings if you’d like to see more images. My guess is these are real and a few folks got their hands on them early. eBay link 1 eBay link 2 I was expecting a basic gold A, but I like the gold trimmed white A, as that stays a little more in line with the classic Braves cap. We’ll await the jerseys on April 5.
  7. It looks like my question has been answered.
  8. When can we expect the Braves gold trimmed opening series look?
  9. Couple of sleeve sponsor notes for Atlanta United. It would appear they’ve dropped the AT&T emblem from the left sleeve. This is what it looked like before. You’ll also notice in the tweet above that they are retaining the gold box shaped Piedmont Healthcare patch. I was hopeful that they would update it to a more subtle design of gold text instead of a large gold patch. I thought they might do that given that’s how they applied the sponsor on the new away kit. This was noteworthy because other kits with the Piedmont sponsor have always been a large patch.
  10. Not sold on this one from Toronto. I like the half and half design but this is too grayscale. Perhaps red cuffs and collar would improve it a bit. ——— The pink is great for Miami but I’d be curious to see this kit with white shorts. I think a little contrast would enhance this a lot.
  11. My guess: light purple base which fades to white with overlayed sun rays that fade from dark purple to red orange to yellow.
  12. Nice job, Nashville. What is supposed to look like the “N” in the crest instead reads as a “Z” because the pattern is rotated 90 degrees. Oof.
  13. I think the only silver on the New York City shirt is the MLS patch and star. Everything else is orange, navy, and white. The silver MLS patch is a new style worn by the defending MLS Cup champion. Columbus wore the same patch last year. ——— ——— DC United is supposed to introduce their new shirt sponsor in a couple of days.
  14. So far, there are a few improvements with adidas’ 2022 MLS effort with less white kits and a few notable designs (Portland, NYC, Philly) but there are still too many bare bone kits with a sublimated or embossed pattern which is barely visible from more than 10 feet away. I feel like I say this every year, but MLS needs more stripes, more hoops, more checkers, more contrasting sleeves, more contrasting shorts, etc. Too much of the league simply looks generic. We need more diversity.
  15. That’s absolutely fantastic. Might be the top change strip in the league.
  16. Probably because MLS and the American fan base is a relatively younger group without the established traditions and century long expectations of kits, so they can get away with it. If they tried that with Liverpool, Barca, or Bayern, the supporters would laugh the manufacturer out of the club. We have to remember the context that the manufacturers directly sponsor these clubs and it’s in their best interests to do good work for the club. In MLS, adidas sponsors the league who is probably just happy to have such a deal. Adidas can get away with a lot more in the US than they could with big European teams.
  17. There appears to be heavy smoke around Georgia updating its font and dropping Bulldog Bold. The rumors are that Georgia will be going back to a more traditional block font, which is not surprising. In the 2020 season, Georgia wore a 1980 throwback with a block font as well as an all-new black alternate with the same font. The font was heavily disliked among the older fan base but as far as custom fonts go, I liked it. It was easily legible and clean. It was also identifiably Georgia. Nonetheless, I’ll like a block font, too as it’s what they wore when I was a student. It’s interesting to me that we’d do this immediately after our most significant moment in four decades. The title was won in Bulldog Bold. Maybe we’ll see throwbacks in the future with the font! I don’t have further details but am trying to get more info. I hope we retain a black jersey and I’d love red pants as a permanent part of the set. We should wear black jerseys as well as red pants on the road as least once or twice per season. Both are traditional Georgia uniforms.
  18. I’m getting tired of teams releasing their “kit” and 95% of the pictures are people wearing the shirt with jeans and you really struggle to find shots of the shorts and socks. It’s called a kit for a reason and the other garments can heavily impact whether the kit is good or not.
  19. Bayern will no longer wear the Club World Cup patch now that Chelsea are the new title holders. We will see less of the patch, however, since it is not allowed in Premier League play. Chelsea will be able to wear it in other competitions.
  20. Burgundy: B+, very solid foundation and feels familiar, which is good White and black: F, no way to put lipstick on this pig, just straight up horrible
  21. Charlotte’s kit is gorgeous and yet the socks are holding it back. The adidas stripes and logos are black on the shirt and the shorts, but are inexplicably white on the socks. You would think the logo treatment would be the same as the shirt since they share the same base color.
  22. It looks like there’s a wild pattern on the sleeve cuffs. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s also on the collar, similar to the Galaxy replica vs authentic treatment.
  23. And Big Blue up in New York owns the quintuple blue.
