  1. Still one of my favorite NHL uniforms ever: Admittedly, the sock striping is terrible. But the sweater got way too much hate at the time. The striping looked nice, and the shoulder logo doubling as a football-style shoulder stripe was a brilliant idea.
  2. The shoulder design isn't bad, IMO. It's the side panels on the jerseys that need to go. Take those away and you have a nice modern look. With the side panels, though, they come a little too close to batting practice jerseys for comfort.
  3. Apparently BC's basketball team was considering these shiny gold uniforms when they signed with Starter in the mid-'90s: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-1994-95-Boston-College-Prototype-Game-Jersey-Shorts-by-Starter-Not-Worn-/182113634656?hash=item2a66d18960:g:47YAAOSwZSFXJO4y
  4. Prototype Rams jersey from 1999: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-MAKE-OFFER-Game-Issued-St-Louis-Rams-Authentic-Prototype-Jersey-1-1-/172057142094?hash=item280f67a34e:g:CtcAAOSw5dNWkfWo Note the custom number font, which the Rams didn't start using on the field until they switched from Puma to Reebok. Also, note the custom NOB font, which never saw the field but did appear, along with the number font, on the replica jerseys in 2000.
  5. Apparently, back when Duke and Georgetown first rolled out their BFBS alternates in the late '90s, UNC was supposed to follow suit with a dark-blue alternate. It never saw the court. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PROTOTYPE-1-1-VINCE-CARTER-navy-alt-North-Carolina-authentic-Nike-jersey-44-unc-/111865521146?hash=item1a0bb463fa:g:3zMAAOSwa-dWia-b
  6. I agree. I'll never understand why people hate the use of orange in the Sharks' color scheme so much. I think it looked great on these uniforms.
  7. Call me crazy, but the Clippers' new logos have actually started to grow on me. I still wish we went with a nautical/ship-themed logo and the old San Diego color scheme, but I think the logos we have translate better to the TV broadcasts (especially with all the different 3D effects ESPN and TNT use) than the old Lakers ripoff ever did. I've also decided that I like the new red jerseys. I loved the old baseball-style scripts because, in addition to looking good, they stood out from the rest of the league. Likewise, the chest logo on the new red jerseys is also distinctive from the rest of the league and, on some strange level, just works. Maybe it's Stockholm Syndrome setting in as a fan of the team, but I'm not as vehemently opposed to the new look now as I was when it was unveiled.
  8. You may recall the Warriors wearing a pointless sleeved version of their home jerseys last year. Well, it looks like they were going to give their road jerseys the same treatment, but didn't end up unveiling or wearing them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adidas-Rev30-Steph-Curry-Golden-State-Warriors-Authentic-Jersey-3XL-2-PROTOTYPE-/321878108097?hash=item4af16e27c1
  9. Remember the Lightning prototype from a while back? Another one of those just popped up on eBay, with better pictures allowing us to see more of it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-TAMPA-BAY-LIGHTNING-REJECTED-PROTOTYPE-REEBOK-EDGE-1-0-JERSEY-RARE-SIZE-56-/301746146769?hash=item464178cdd1
  10. Unused Islanders Edge prototype on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-York-Islanders-Jersey-Reebok-Edge-Prototype-Yashin-Sz-56-NHL-Rare-/181861573325?hash=item2a57cb62cd
  11. "You can hear our hearts beat the odds" So they're due for a massive coronary soon?
  12. I like the purple and white uniforms from that era, but these look like a dress that a goth chick would wear to the prom.
  13. In fairness, Reebok was not immune to putting their "stamp" on things in a disastrous manner themselves. Exhibit A - the TechFit jerseys: Just as ugly and cheap-looking as they are in college. Look at how warped the Giants' logo and the Jaguars' stripes are.
  14. The Brewers still have yet to top the Germanic look.
  15. Apparently the Mets considered going with orange BP jerseys in 1982: http://m.ebay.com/itm/321771004239 They ended up wearing a blue version of the same design that year instead.
  16. FWIW, the teal/gold/black color scheme is equally appropriate for DC because it's based off the Presidential Seal:
  17. I don't like those either. That wordmark logo is bland and generic in both its classic and modernized versions. The sweater design is a blatant ripoff of the Habs' road whites, too: NHL aesthetics are incestuous and unoriginal enough as it is nowadays, no need to revisit Original Six Dress-Up uniforms of the past.
  18. Speaking of the Mets, while I hated the black drop shadows on their regular home and road jerseys, I loved their use of BFBS elsewhere:
  19. I don't like stirrups either. Full socks look a thousand times better. Given that football has proven that you can still pull off stripes on full socks, there's even less of a reason to wear stirrups.
  20. I loved the color scheme from that era - not only did it actually reflect a real blue jay, but the shade of blue they used looked beautiful on the field. I even liked the logos/wordmarks. The problem with that set was the color distribution, not the color scheme itself. Emphasizing black and silver over that amazing shade of blue was just stupid. They shot themselves in the foot by never coming out with blue caps and jerseys when those would have sold like hotcakes. I do wish they had the balls to go through with wearing all-graphite on the road like they were originally planning to.... I'd imagine that on the field, it would have looked kind of like this Boise Hawks uniform: To me, that's not a bad look at all.
  21. I've mentioned this before, but those Vikings uniforms were great when worn properly (purple over white at home, white over purple on the road). Their insistence on wearing monochrome combos and the stupid toilet-seat collars ruined it.
