  1. Damn, you beat me to it. For you youngsters who don't what Wings is talking about . . .
  2. I will only accept it if the starting pitcher is required to wear a garter belt . . . rose in the front.
  3. That is one of my favorite scenes in the movie (out of many great scenes), but this still seems like a little much.
  4. Any fan willing to remove his own tooth or take a punch from Mike Tyson gets a free season ticket with a parking pass.
  5. The Univ. of Kansas and Kansas State are 93% and 94%, respectively. I had no idea until my son (11th grader) and I started just looking around online one afternoon.
  6. Good job on both of those sets. I only have two comments/questions: 1. That Toronto Giants identity is a mess. Terrible logo, generic font and a color scheme that totally abandons the team's history. 2. Are you sure the Tampa Bay wordmarks have orange in them? Based on the wood grain surface in the background, the original pictures are in color and don't appear to include any orange. It's hard to tell exactly what the second color is, but it doesn't look like orange.
  7. Looks a bit like this . . . just on the opposite wing flap.
  8. It's also a shame because the LIU Blackbirds identity has some real history* behind it. * -- Ignoring LIU's involvement in the point shaving scandal of the '50s which caused the whole athletic program to be shut down for about five years. That little unpleasantness hasn't wiped Kentucky off of the map. From Wiki -- Those NIT championships were from the era when the NIT was a bigger deal than the NCAA Tournament.
  9. I agree . . . except to say that they weren't actually that thick . . . particularly compared to these.
  10. Pork Roll/Taylor Ham is much more like Spam than Scrapple is. As for which state scrapple is associated with, I think of it as much more of a Pennsylvania thing than a Maryland thing, though you can get it around here. If anything, the Shorebirds should be named after some sort of chicken product . . . particularly since they play in Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
  11. Not at all. There's a reason why I have a hard time with the concept of looking into a tank and saying, "Him! I'm going to eat him!" That said, I have no problem steaming dozens or bushels of crabs. Perhaps they lose their individuality in the group.
  12. Good point. It's like the blue crab. I was about 8 years old when I found out they were blue before they were steamed. It was like finding out there was no Santa Claus or Easter Beagle. At least he looks like he died happy. He's wearing shades and has a smile on his face.
  13. This one suffers from the grouper problem -- live animal in the middle of a sandwich. His nonchalant attitude shows that he has no idea that fate that awaits him.
  14. I'm going to disagree with you on this. Unlike the Philadelphia Wings or Wichita Wings (old indoor soccer team), the nickname in this case is clearly based on the food. Therefore, it makes sense to use the food in the logo.
  15. I would like to see a secondary with an anthropomorphic wing (or maybe a chicken) swinging a celery stick bat. It would fit with the existing swinging buffalo logo. Option 2: Remake the existing swinging buffalo logo to insert a celery stick bat.
  16. I believe you (this being a geography issue, and all), but this kind of surprises me. Maybe it's because I don't really know who is in the A-Sun without having to look it up.
  17. I love me a good fresh grouper sandwich, but that's a little too fresh. I don't want all of the scales and bones and assorted internal parts.
  18. http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/114736-rochester-red-wings-throw-back-to-1879-as-hop-bitters/
  19. . . . and, to a signficant degree, reinforces stereotypes about West Virginia . . . though on that point this seems to fall into the "group using stereotypical potentially derogatory term to describe itself" category.
  20. I spent many days playing Statis Pro Baseball back in the early 80s. It always felt like an added bonus that it was a local Baltimore company.
  21. How have I never noticed this before? Now I'm going to spend every Redskins game when they wear those socks looking at the stripes. . . . which is exactly what I did last night.
