  1. Personally, I’m withholding my excitement for #DesertIce
  2. I think this is a good move for the Cardinals to take a leap into new colors. Execution sounds like it might be wonky, but I’m looking forward to it. Either way, with the coach/GM change and then a big brand update, it’ll help reinvigorate the franchise and the fanbase.
  3. No, there was some debate on a Cardinals forum as the Reddit leaker was calling it Orange and mocked it up as such, but @TruColor suspected that he was misinterpreting Athletic Gold for Orange. I don’t know what the current consensus is.
  4. We’re not going to get a “as the Cardinal emerges from the desert shadows…” fade job again, are we?
  5. And that answers my question.
  6. That’s a good point about the draft cap; would they hold off on unveiling new unis until AFTER the draft? Rumor I read had a 4/17 date for an unveiling.
  7. I’m looking forward to it; I said awhile back their color scheme is really bland (pitiful if not for their history) and that their brand has probably the lease amount of brand equity and relevancy in the league, if not most of pro sports. so, I applaud them, if any of this is true, for taking a risk. This new rumored color palette can work if executed well.
  8. Thanks for sharing - appreciate your detective work!
  9. TruColor, when are you going to spill the beans on what you know? Give us the Reddit rumors and the rest of the juicy details you’ve learned. Grey & Athletic Gold additions…or is that Athletic Gold actually truly Orange? Shifting from Cardinal Red to a deeper, darker shade, almost Maroon? Definite facemask change? Don’t hold out on us.
  10. Poor argument, Cujo; the Cardinals have never used Athletic Gold in their uniforms and the Chiefs have always used it. You can’t just make your argument based on the logo.
  11. FWIW - Mecum Auto Auctions is running at State Farm Stadium on those days. Do stadiums typically close their team shops when non-football events are taking place?
  12. That's a good change for him. #85 is a hideous receiver number and even harder to make relevant in Cincinnati since Chad Ochocinco laid claim to it, literally. Good receiver, good number.
  13. Yet another traditional norm that’s being erased. It’s almost like there’s a pattern…
  14. I don't buy this completely. Perhaps all teams should unretire those retired player numbers instead of muddying up the game by deregulating number rules. The Chiefs alone have the following numbers retired, offiically or unofficially: No. Player Position Tenure 3 Jan Stenerud K 1967–1979 16 Len Dawson QB 1962–1975 18 Emmitt Thomas CB 1966–1978 28 Abner Haynes RB 1960–1964 33 Stone Johnson 1 2 RB 1963 36 Mack Lee Hill 2 RB 1964–1965 58 Derrick Thomas 2 LB 1989–1999 63 Willie Lanier LB 1967–1977 78 Bobby Bell LB 1963–1974 86 Buck Buchanan DT 1963–1975 So yeah, I get it, when you're carrying 90 players in the offseason roster it can be tough, and that doesn't leave you any wiggle room when you already have 10 numbers off the board. You've got to number 53 main roster players, up to 16 practice squad players, and your injured/reserve players for the season, but that's usually only 75-80. It really shouldn't be a problem with the traditional numbering rules.
  15. Agree. I don't mind WRs being able to wear single digits or teens, but outside of that, I despise the recent number changes. Josh Allen in that photo wearing #41 as an EDGE is worse than the DL wearing #52. This is what it should be: 0-19: QB, WR, K, P 20-49: RB, DB 50-79: OL, DL, LB 80-89: WR, TE 90-99: DL, LB But hey, we can stuff the kickers & punters into #96 now since no one else wants to wear it, so that Zeke Elliott can wear #15 and DT Jalen Carter can wear his college #88. Honestly, I feel like in a few years, they'll pull back on this rule.
  16. I don't hate it. What I do hate is the rest of the proposal which allows kickers & punters to wear 0-49 and 90-99. We'll never see kickers & punters in 1-19 again after everyone else on the team takes those single digit & teen jerseys. Can't wait to watch #99 Justin Tucker run on to the field for an extra point. Stupid.
  17. Quick Photoshop from the front. Which looks better? ORIGINAL: WITH XFL 2.0 HELMET:
  18. Look at how nice these helmets were: Just perfect.
  19. Fair enough, you searched longer than me. I still don’t consider it a primary team color but I’m going to let it go because my post was compared to Jackson Mahomes. (We hate him too.) If the Cardinals keep with their deeper Cardinal Red and add more Athletic Gold WITH Black , it will be a solid look. I long favored Kansas City using more Black (except in the uniforms) as Red/Athletic Gold/Black as a color trio is one of the best in sports.
  20. That would be a good logo compromise. Still think they should get rid of the wide painted Black stripe and return to the previous stripe. The thin Red line accent as a design feature really is on its way to being a staple element of their brand (jersey numbers, pant stripe). They just need to go all the way and add it to the shoulder stripe (though I wish they’d redo that part completely) and helmet.
  21. I would be shouting from the rooftops how good the Renegades looked if they were just wearing their XFL 2.0 helmets. We need someone to photoshop the old helmet onto the new uniform.
  22. Yes, and the draft cap is brand new. So, 1 hat out of 260 other hats listed on Fanatics used Athletic Gold in the artwork. 1/260. Now do the tees. I just flipped through 5 pages and found 1 Yellow Tee and 1 other shirt that had Athletic Gold in the design. That's 2 out of 360 tees. Athletic Gold, Yellow-Gold, whatever we want to call it, is not part of the Arizona Cardinals brand outside of being used in the Cardinal beak. It is no more a part of their brand than Yellow & Red are part of the Ravens brand. It has never been worn on the uniform outside of the Arizona state flag. So yes, Kansas City folks would have the right to be upset if Arizona adds it as a core color in their update.
  23. That's like saying the Raiders could add Yellow-Gold into their brand because the Steelers only use it as a trim color. Stupid. Look at the uniforms. Look at the stadiums. Look at the merch. The only place you see Yellow-Gold in Arizona anything is in on the beak of the Cardinal. In Kansas City, it's almost everywhere Red is. Show me on the picture, outside of the Cardinal beak and goal posts, where Yellow-Gold appears for the Cardinal brand. I tell you what, using your logic, let's just have the Texans, since they're redoing their brand next offseason, add Silver. That way no one confuses them with the Patriots...
  24. Breezing through their Nike tees & New Era caps on the Fanatics website, I was able to find ONE product that featured Yellow-Gold as a design element; everything else is Red & Black. The only instances of using Yellow-Gold is in the beak of the Cardinal. If this is an indicator of things to come, I'm not happy about it, as a Kansas City Chiefs fan, and I can't imagine Clark Hunt & Co. would be either. This would be a foolish move by Arizona, and a confusing one if approved by the NFL. Does Arizona use the same Red as Kansas City? I always thought it was darker.
