  1. That and the high school games were played over Thanksgiving weekend meant new grass apparently.
  2. To me this would be like if Moab or Jackson Hole got a team. There's money there, but the locals won't want to deal with it and the tourists aren't wasting their vacations for a minor league hockey game.
  3. For everyone complaining... This is all because the NCAA doesn't run the fbs post season. The fbs schools do to avoid any money going to other ncaa members. And they only care about themselves, and they only care about the revenue the giant Power 5 conferences can make off of it. It's why it's the "College Football Playoffs" and not "NCAA National Championship Tournament". You know, the one that follows the same general qualification procedures for other levels of football and other sports. League big enough? Champion automatically qualifies. But that means the MAC champ or Sun Belt champ is involved and the big schools don't want that. They'd have to share more of their pie than they're forced to. Look at the new 12 team playoff. They're giving 1/12th of the pie to the best non Power 5 so to keep those with real power off their backs.
  4. A two year streak? Is that really noteworthy?
  5. "They" didn't do this. MLB suggested it as they are a "Partner League" and MLB wanted to try it out. The idea being they wanted regular season games over at a decent time. This way everyone knows it's nine-innings. And you get a few minutes for a home run derby if tied. Better than Draft League that just ends it in a tie after 9. The USPBL uses a rule right out of the Savannah Bananas for their games. All four teams play at the same stadium. On game nights, the have a cutoff for how late games take. They have a 9/2.5 rule. Game is 9-innings. But, the rule is an inning can't start after the 2.5 hour mark. Whatever inning they're in, the team leading wins. In the event that the inning ends in a tie, then they'll play extra innings from there. This is to ensure games are over in 3 hours as much as possible. Especially for fireworks nights. I'm not entirely thrilled with the idea. But it did make for a quick night the one time I went to a USPBL game.
  6. I like the little home plate in the B. Would've been cool had they put 2nd base diamond inside the top of the B.
  7. Also, the Pioneer League's Missoula PaddleHeads have an alternative identity that is the PowderHeads:
  8. https://www.pioneerleague.com/sports/bsb/2023/releases/20231128g5j6bw Pioneer League adding the Oakland Ballers for 2024. A bit outside their footprint, but it is what it is.
  9. BCS/CFP has always cared about ratings more than legitimacy.
  10. Innocent is a statement of fact. Guilty is statement of fact. Not guilty is not a statement of fact. It's implicitly stating you don't have enough proof to go either way.
  11. That central division is basically AF2. Or the MAC. Existing mostly to play the other bigger teams and to boost their numbers.
  12. It's aggravating that so many people confuse the two. THERE'S A HUGE DIFFERENCE in the two statements.
  13. Wonder what suburban rinks are big enough to at least 'pass' as a full size stadium. Anything in the 4k+ range?
  14. Hmmm... doubt they'd go to Prescott. But you never know.
  15. Has to be Tucson. There's no way they're starting a team on short notice for the arena the Rattlers just vacated.
  16. If they really wanted to be funny they should've done this at Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Philly.
  17. Way to skim over the post without understanding it's not minor league or summer league baseball
  18. That's the thing. He wasn't invited. He snuck in. There's no proof it's him even as CMU doesn't know who they are, apparently. It just looks like him. And would make sense that he was there just to steal MSU signs.
  19. I think the argument about the throwbacks is funny. it's moreso that fans feel THOSE are the teams real identities. Either from nostalgia or some specific era of the team they enjoy the most. However, if the NFL had just kept their regular team identities and gone with one-off combos the way NCAA has done, fans probably would like them and have favorites but still keep going back and wanting the regular uniforms most of the time. Eagles colors, Browns facemasks, Bucs orange, Pats Pat the Patriot, Seahawks 70s style, etc... nobody would question it if once a year Eagles wanted a BFBS uniform while still normally being Kelly Green. Or the midnight green. Same with Browns. The biggest reason fans don't want and didn't like the last rebrand was because it was the 'new identity' rather than some couple-times-a-year futuristic version that fans could maybe appreciate. The same the Browns have now down with the all-white look. It's a cool break from the usual, but not something they'd want full-time.
  20. It's not believed he was there to help the Chips. H was there to steal signs from the Spartans. He was just trying to fit in. Coaches generally don't wear passes or nametags. So, somehow he convinced his way in as part of the coaching staff and then just hid in plain sight.
  21. Illinois state officials would've been apoplectic over them playing in Indiana for a year.
