  1. This picture was taken a couple of days prior to Sunday's NFC Championship. The NFL logo was there Sunday as well:
  2. The NFL might be making the call though. It'll be interesting to see what they do. No Super Bowl has ever had any of the endzones unpainted. Hopefully it stays that way. Updated full field template. The teamboxes are again wider than the past standard. Yesterday's game (and maybe all season, I'd have to look back), has the team boxes go from between the 27 yard lines. I'd expect for those to stay the same dimensions for the game in two weeks.
  3. Last game with outlined numbers (Super Bowl XLV does not count, as they kept the Cowboys blue outline), was Super Bowl XXXV, which happens to be the first Super Bowl I actually have any memory of: The last Super Bowl where the yard lines were deliberately painted (Super Bowl XLVI does not count, as the paint at the 20s was sewn into the turf in Indy), was Super Bowl XLI The fields have really gotten less and less Super as the years go by. Why? I don't know, and I'm not sure what's taken the NFL down this road.
  4. As far as what I think we will end up seeing, I do think it will be this field, despite the many missed opportunities the NFL will have here.
  5. I'm going to use the throwback field template, since that matches the endzone style.
  6. Last throwback style field. This is mid 2000's.
  7. Here's a mid 90's to early 2000's style field, again using @logoroy's Super Bowl LVI logo.
  8. To be honest, I actually think it's the helmet's from Super Bowls XXXII through XXXVII that were placed at the 30 yard lines (see below, as I used the same style). Any modern helmets in 2D form look a little clunky to me, but maybe that's because I haven't seen a good version done in 2D for a field. I like the way Bill has the current helmet template done on the GUD, but for a field, I think the facemasks would need less detail. Maybe I'll try to come up with something more field friendly there and try that out. Unfortunately, yes. For a team name like Bengals, this is about as boring a logo you could come up with. It's just odd.
  9. Only had time to do an 80's era field for today, but I might do some 90's/2000's fields tomorrow, if I've got time. I can't do a retro field without a real logo, so, as I usually do each year when I need a good Super Bowl logo, I use @logoroy's version, since he's always got a better version (that's why he designs the Gridiron Bowl logos for the GSL). In true 80's Super Bowl fashion, we have the same helmet style for the Bengals used in Super Bowl XXIII, the Rams helmets from Super Bowl XIV (which was 1979 season, but did take place in 1980), smaller NFL logo at midfield, and the Super Bowl logos at the 35 yard line (location of the kickoff). I used the number outlining style used in Super Bowl XXIII. No painted teamboxes, as that didn't come until the 90's. Yeah, I wish I could, but at least I get to design the Gridiron Bowl fields for the GSL. And maybe some day I'll be one of those people who paint the Super Bowl field in their back yard (at a much smaller scale of course).
  10. And two more, with no white outline on the Bengals wordmark.
  11. Here's some alternate Bengals endzones
  12. Yeah, I'll do an endzone with stripes, but it would exclude anything other than the wordmark in the endzone. At that point, the stripes become the logo (plus, I've tried many ways, and with the striped endzone, nothing else but the wordmark looks good). Yeah, that would be a much better look. The interesting thing is, what helmet template would they use? If the 49ers were their opponent, it would look odd if the Bengals used a more modern template, but if they played the Rams, then a more modern template would make more sense (a helmet template similar to what the Rams used in Super Bowl LIII).
  13. Here's the final four teams, with the endzone designs that I'd predict each team would have. The Chiefs and 49ers I would think would have the same designs as they had two years ago. I highly doubt the NFL would paint stripes in the Bengals endzone, even though that would be amazing. They'd go with black, as in their previous two Super Bowls. The Rams I would hope would go with their better logo and yellow wordmark. Rams-Chiefs 49ers-Chiefs Rams-Bengals 49ers-Bengals Every one of these fields will have a good deal of color, which is nice of course. And, we have the possibility of the host team playing in their home stadium for the second year in a row.
  14. Here's how that possible Rams endzone would look. By far the better choice for them, but don't count on the Rams to make a correct design choice. Tried another Titans powder blue endzone based on their 2018 field. And here's both of these sharing a field
  15. I have to go this direction, but in terms of fields ... IV XXIII XXVIII XXX LIV
  16. Figured I'd try both a navy endzone for Tennessee and a powder blue endzone.
  17. Thanks y'all! This is certainly what I look forward to each year. Leading up to the game and trying to get peaks in on the Super Bowl field as they're painting it is always the most fun part, even though it typically results in disappointment (there have been some nice surprises the last couple years though). I'm having a hard time finding a high resolution version of that wordmark at the moment, but I'll get something together eventually. Interesting note though; the Bengals wordmark from that era did find its way into their two Super Bowl endzones in Super Bowls XIX and XXIII, but modified. The NFL back in that era, really all the way from Super Bowl VII through Super Bowl XXXIII would modify the shorter and wider wordmarks and make them taller to better fill the endzones. You can see that with the Bears (who used to do this at their home stadium up until 2018) Bengals And Broncos The NFL then tried adding the city name on the tops of long short wordmarks to better fill the space, as seen for the Seahawks and Cardinals Eventually moved away form that, and just put the wordmarks in to scale But that still didn't look the best, and I think, that's how we ended up with the endzone format we have now, giving more room for these short long wordmarks, which have become more common in recent years. Had the Broncos not made Super Bowl 50, There's a chance, I think, that they could have still gone with the older format, of having the conference logos in the endzone. Then again, if the Cardinals had made the Super Bowl this season, we'd have probably seen the current endzone format. I got off on a big tangent there, but the history of the field designs is always interesting.
  18. I don’t know why I never thought of this with the Cowboys. It’s a pretty obvious thing too, and would look better than just the star logo. The Cowboys have used helmets in the endzone since their first game in Texas Stadium. I’ll have to put that endzone together.
  19. Always fun for me too. One of my favorite parts of the year. Here's a field I did for fun. I wanted to get a Bengals endzone in there with the stripes, but their home endzone looks best, so I just used that. Then, I based the 49ers endzone on their home endzone (the right endzone specifically). Then put in some of my favorite elements of past fields.
  20. My guess would be an orange endzone, since the Bengals wordmark is black at home. Black would be the other option, and I think that would be better. Here's those two options: I have a feeling as well. Both Packers and Bills get over the hump? That was my prediction February of last year (as seen above), so I'm sticking with it.
  21. Now for the AFC 1. Tennessee Titans The Titans wear navy more often, and use navy as a color more often, so I think this would be more likely than powder blue. 2. Kansas City Chiefs Same endzone used the last two Super Bowls. 3. Buffalo Bills 4. Cincinnati Bengals I'm just hoping this is what we would see if the Bengals made it to a Super Bowl. The stripe pattern matches their current endzones. 5. Las Vegas Raiders 6. New England Patriots Same endzone used in Super Bowl LIII 7. Pittsburgh Steelers Same sized wordmark as in their home stadium endzone.
  22. Lets jump into possible endzones, as I like to do each year. Starting with the NFC 1. Green Bay Packers Packers wordmark same size as at their home stadium. 2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Same endzone as last year. 3. Dallas Cowboys Cowboys wordmark same size as in their home stadium. 4. Los Angeles Rams This is exactly what the Rams have used at home. 5. Arizona Cardinals This is just what would fit in the endzone. The Cardinals have a very short and wide wordmark. 6. San Francisco 49ers Same as Super Bowl LIV. The 49ers still use these logos in their home stadium, so it stands to reason they'd use them again in the Super Bowl. 7. Philadelphia Eagles Same endzone as used in Super Bowl LII.
  23. Okay, had to get a Steelers field out of the way before Sunday night, while we're still in it.
  24. Time to dust off the old template I suppose I'll be very interested in how they paint the numerals of the logo on the field. There's a lot of detail and gradient in the logo. So, I'm wondering if it's going to come out with more flat colors in the logo itself, or if they can actually get a good gradient effect in there. At least what I've noticed with these Super Bowl logos over the years, the gradient comes out better indoors on an artificial surface, than on grass, but rarely has the on field Super Bowl logo gotten the exact look as the logo itself.
  25. The latest logo competition, and last for the 2022 season is for the Redemption Game. Participants have a chance to make updates to their logos for the next week, and are taking feedback in the GSL forums, if anyone is interested in giving them input. https://gridironuniforms.forumotion.com/t1155-2022-redemption-game-logo-competition-phase-2 Entry 1 Entry 2
