  1. Alright lemme make a homer’s case for Omaha (even though it has literally no shot at happening) 1. It’s got the arena for it. The CHI Health Center hosted UNO hockey for a couple years, it’s got no obstructed views, and the capacity is 17,100, which fits in with the rest of the league. 2. There’s some interest of hockey here. The state’s got three junior league USHL teams that all do pretty well for attendance. Lincoln consistently battles with Fargo for the top spot, Omaha’s always up there and even the Tri-City Storm’s Kearney (pop. 30,000) holds its own. Granted these are only about a couple thousand on average, but you’re not starting from scratch building a hockey fanbase. Also, UNO consistently brings in a top 5 attendance in NCAA, which includes some hockey-crazy markets. 3. It’s bigger than you think. The Omaha metro’s nearly got a million people in it, and nearby Lincoln’s got 340k. Lincoln-Omaha combined is bigger than the NHL and NHL-adjacent markets of Salt Lake City, Hartford and Buffalo. It doesn’t have to compete with any nearby NHL teams (it’s mostly Colorado fans out here but the vast majority don’t have a team), so you’re getting a chunk of Kansas City, Des Moines, and some of Wichita/Dakotas. Omaha’s projected to grow in the coming years, plus its home to like five Fortune 500 companies so the money’s there to form an ownership group. 4. Nebraska sports fandom goes HARD. We’ve sold out the football stadium through seven straight losing seasons. We’ve sold out the football stadium for a VOLLEYBALL game with a chunk of people wanting tickets that couldn’t get in. The Husker basketball team has been dreadful for forever and still sells out, Creighton’s got a huge fanbase down here, and the College World Series runs well every year, so it’s got the downtown infrastructure needed. Will that still be the case if a team isn’t brandishing the Husker N? I’m not sure, but I do know that if a team catches on here they won’t have to worry about attendance no matter how they’re doing. Will any of this matter? Absolutely not. But I do think that there’s reason to believe that the NHL could work here, at least moreso than it did in Arizona. Also, I really want to get into hockey but just can’t form a connection with any of the teams so I’m hoping against all hope that KC or Omaha somehow pulls this off, even though it really should be Quebec.
  2. I can’t believe we broke them. I didn’t expect us to even win, but to literally watch the Celtics unravel in real time is a dream come true.
  3. Former ESPN CEO John Skipper can totally see it happening, with the price being as high as $250
  4. Right when they finally fixed the branding. Brutal. RIP to a great identity.
  5. I mean AD had 40. Both teams played out of their gourd today, we’ll see if either can keep this up.
  6. Again I don’t think it’s a coincidence the NBA Requires you have your team name in the logo. I definitely see the elimination of the wordmark with the global logo as a patch as the endgame.
  7. I can’t believe what this Heat team has accomplished especially without Herro and Oladipo. Everything since going up on the Bucks has been icing on the cake. This is just a perfect Heat culture team that never quits. If we make/win the Finals, I’ll be overjoyed obviously, but this playoff run has more than satisfied me with this team.
  8. I don’t have a consistent rule for name abbreviations, some I like, such as NYK GSW and CBJ, but some I abhor like LAK TBL and especially NOP. I actually think the NBA should make an exception and allow the Pelicans to be NOLA. We have the technology now, we can survive with four letters.
  9. True but LeBron and AD have never lost a series together with both fully healthy. If AD’s full strength and the Lakers bench players keep it up I could see them winning, but the rest and home court advantage for the Nuggets is massive.
  10. On one hand the Nuggets have been far and away the best team all season and have shown no signs of faltering but on the other hand it’s gonna be really hard to bet against teams with vastly more championship experience in the WCF.
  11. So close yet so far for Oklahoma State. Jerseys are an absolute home run, nothing really to complain with there. There’s still too many helmets and the full body Pete and Cowboys script will never not look forced. Plus as others have pointed out, striping the helmets but not the pants is beyond baffling.
  12. Looks like Denver and Phoenix will be the rare series that never starts
  13. Top left is the clear winner, what are we even doing here with the rest of em
  14. Saw a Montana State beach towel for sale at a Target in Central Nebraska. So naturally I had to buy it.
  15. I like the Nuggets’ current look, but it pales in comparison to their rainbow alternates which would be a top 5 identity in the league if adopted. Although the original rainbows clear this, and are literally my favorite uniforms of all time.
  16. What we’re getting Boston in black vs Philly in red for Game 1 and 3 Boston in green vs Philly in white for Game 2 Philly in blue vs Boston in white for Game 4 Nuggets in blue vs. Suns in white for Game 2 Suns in black vs. Nuggets in white for 3 & 4 Knicks in white at home, Heat in Red for Game 1, Black for Game 2. Heat in white at home, Knicks in unnecessary blues Game 3, black in Game 4
  17. Especially for Super Bowls too. They’re never coming back to Detroit or Indy.
  18. Anthony Richardson will be the best QB from this class. Calling it now.
  19. SAVE US DENVER YOU’RE OUR ONLY HOPE (though I do wanna see CP3 get a ring)
  20. Butler also had Dragic and Bam hurt for most of the series. He beat the Lakers in Game 3 with a starting lineup of him, Jae Crowder, rookie Tyler Herro, Meyers Leonard and Duncan Robinson
