  1. Well all of these designs might be simple to put together, but finalizing everything within a whole organization definitely takes a while. And on top of the fact that there’s a governing organization that also has a say in these designs, especially for the Outdoor games. I mean sure the Lightning are really trying to go for that Faux O6 look, which is very similar to Detroit. A lot of us here would love to see them back in black and silver as well, but the Lightning seem to be perfectly happy with their look. And even that Dallas jersey is a throwback to another look. It’s similar to the Red Wings, but all of the little elements, from the patches on the sleeves to the green base had to be decided by an organization. There’s so much more to this than just slap on stripes and call it a day. Sure there are some designs that are way simpler than others, and often seem like there’s not a lot of thought behind them, but you’re really oversimplifying the process here.
  2. Yeah that definitely felt like a meme that it was honoring what Ballard did with the same color names… I don’t mind it though, it’s meant to show that it’s an Arenas jersey, yet not a throwback to the sweater that had that specific logo. It also makes the actual logo an Arenas specific logo for other applications rather than just the T. It’s a bit quirky, but I like it. And all of the outdoor games uniforms, this year were a tiny bit disappointing. I mean at least I’m the matchups. Both the Wild and the Blues looked great for the WC, but I wish the Blues had gone with a 1920’s fauxback rather than a off-white 60’s throwback… And while the Lightning will look ok, I mean I don’t even need to mention Nashville. Oh sorry Smashville And now this. The Sabres have a 60’s style jersey while the Leafs went all the way back to the 1920’s. It’s like how the Habs wore their regular road jersey (essentially) in the Heritage Classic vs the Flames. It just looks off when teams don’t coordinate their looks for these big games. I just don’t get how that part is overlooked, or just ignored by these teams.
  3. I don’t get how people don’t see it. It’s thick blocks of color, followed by a thin, bright, contrasting color in a field of the darkest color. They are designed very similarly in that the sleeves and socks are very strip heavy, while the hems are not. And that’s on top of the similarity to the striping pattern. And similar =/= exact. Let me make that clear. They have different patterns, but they’re very similar. Both are beautiful though! That’s a great match-up!
  4. Well the Islanders actually played 13 games before they opened at home, and 17 through the month of November. Being ready in December of 2022 could mean the 1st, or it could mean the 20th or something. The Wild as an example, played 30 games this season through December 20th. Given that the whole world seems to be behind on everything, it’s fairly realistic to think that late December is a better timeline, which means what are the Coyotes supposed to do for 30 games?
  5. So now that this is the plan, I have a few questions… One, I saw on the article on NHL.com breaking this news, that Bettman said the Suns don’t want to share their arena with the Coyotes. Was there any other talk about this option? I’m not sure if I missed something, but I don’t remember hearing that the Coyotes even explored that option. Another question is about the timeline of the new arena itself. No not the new one that they’re hoping to build the new ASU one… According to the school’s website about the project, it’s supposed to be completed in December of 2022. So does this mean the Coyotes are starting a whole half season on the road? Or are they just going to not play in front of anyone until the building is done? And what happens if Tempe says no?
  6. Well that mall had room for 15,000 fans and didn’t not have Friday and Saturday home games already booked out…I think playing in a mall is nothing compared to what the Coyotes are trying to do here. I mean playing in a mall is great. Genius even. You’d hope that the other NHL owners would greatly frown upon the team playing in a 5,000 seat arena for up to 4 years. I mean the league at least has some self respect right???
  7. Well what I meant was, they’re ditching the grey, updating the gold to primary, and coming out with another third. But it’s most likely the new Reverse Retro line I wonder how many teams will keep the same reverse retro, and how many will have new ones…
  8. That or the gold alternate becomes the primary, and they ditch the grey jersey…
  9. The Wild do this as well. They’ll often reference the best Minnesota player, or other combined stats with the North Stars that they can reasonably get away with, and ignore the Dallas side of the Stars record. But it’s been less and less as the franchise has gotten older and had more time to grow its own statistics.
  10. The only flaw is the lack of a golden triangle behind the skating penguin… I still don’t understand why they want to use that one those jerseys. It makes sense on a yellow sweater, because the triangle would kind of disappear on that, but these? Why? It just takes away the pop of color that the shoulders need
  11. When I finally noticed that the “S’s” and the numbers were different sizes and fonts this jersey went from a “1 cause it’s boring and weird at the same time” to a “-3 because holy crap that’s awful…”
  12. I agree the Wild’s Winter Classic sweater is amazing, perfectly matching the 1930’s aesthetic they were going for. I think the Jersey Jersey is by far the worst jersey released this year, with the Smashville one a close second. It’s just too tacky with the name on the front. As for the Bolts, sure it’s pushing the envelope just a little bit, but it’s the stadium series, it’s fine for that game. I mean neither are the worst Stadium Series jerseys either. We had the Avalanche wearing bibs remember? And aesthetically, nothing has been as bad as the Thrashers red alternate…
  13. And they have a decent amount of hockey history otherwise to show that they would support a team… Maybe the Coyotes can move to Atlanta again, and the circle of OITGDNHL would be complete
  14. Well the names on the back of any NHL jersey are going to be stitched on like the teaser here… If the front happens to be a wordmark, then it would also look like this, but my guess is that this is the NOB.
  15. I hate the Devils Jersey jersey, but there are barely some good parts about it… I don’t mind a wordmark on the front of the sweater, that’s pretty neat. But this feels like a generic font, and doesn’t really scream Devils at all. It feels like it could say anything in that font, and it wouldn’t be terrible. Which makes it terrible for a jersey that’s supposed to honor the location of New Jersey… The black sweater? Great. It’s cool to have a different color sweater. This black sweater?? It’s the Winter Classic jersey that Chicago wore back in 2019… Minus hem stripes, which is one of the worst design trends in hockey. Stripes make a hockey sweater, don’t remove them. And the only part of this sweater that I truly do like is the red drop shadow on the numbers. It’s different and cool, and doesn’t quite look like the Rangers, so I think it works. Otherwise? Burn this whole sweater. It’s awful…
  16. Honestly, I love the craziness/tackiness of the chrome dome and the white gloves. It somehow works with the white and silver on the jerseys. The sock striping is pretty cool too. But the sleeves are weird, and the whole jersey just seems meh. It’s too boring. If they were going to go crazy with an alternate, why is the jersey just so boring?
  17. The collar looks similar to the adidas one. Hopefully there’s not too many toilet bowl collars. But other than the odd navy honeycomb pattern in the stripes, these are pretty fantastic.
  18. I was a little disappointed when I saw this. I was really hoping for the black Kachina to match up with the Wild’s road sweaters. We did see that match up last year, but I was hoping to see it with the red outlines on the numbers again lol. And with a weird schedule this year, it’ll be the one trip to Arizona that Minnesota makes this year. At least the Yotes will have to wear their new (old) white sweaters in Minnesota this year.
  19. The Twins had a perfect set before they decided to introduce gold. All they need to do is jump back to what they had before. No “M” caps, no navy script, and no gold, just classic white with pinstripes, and the TC hat. And fix the tail on the “Minnesota” script.
  20. The teal jersey actually just needs that black side stripes to mimic the back of the sweater where it was much more like a shoulder yoke. http://nhluniforms.com/Sharks/Sharks03.html The other thing that always bothered me about this set is the lack of black on the whites socks. Fix those two things and it’s golden.
  21. I also think that both Sharks logos really do have their flaws. While the 90’s bizarreness of the shark eating a hockey stick is actually really cool, the logo just needs to be cleaned up a little bit. The current logo looks more inline with a dated ECHL logo, where it’s tough but cartoony. It needs a little more realism, and a few less outlines. I also still can’t believe that the artist didn’t know enough about hockey to figure out the knob of the stick-problem.
  22. Wow I guess the league knows better than the Jags do… I don’t mind the minimalism of the Jaguars current set, but it definitely needs an outline for a pop of color on the black and white jerseys. They’re literally glorified practice jerseys. There’s nothing distinctive about them.
