  1. The LFC one would be acceptable if the collar was white or green, or heck even yellow. That weird salmon/coral color though? No thanks. Although I will say almost every single LFC kit looks better on field than in the previews, so I’ll reserve my full judgment till I see it live.
  2. I’m really torn on this final. I don’t particularly like either of these teams, probably two of my 3 most dislike English teams. I’ll probably end up (reluctantly) pulling for Chelsea though, for a few reasons. Pulisic, for one, but also I think it would vindicate Thomas Tuchel as a manager after his largely successful stints at Dortmund and PSG ended without the trophies that really mattered to either of those teams. Plus I would absolutely love to still be able to hold 0 UCL’s over City’s head for a generation.
  3. Absolutely. I haven't watched an NHL game on national NBC in a minute so I'm assuming they just slotted Kenny Albert to the top crew in place of Doc? If so then that's a large downgrade. Honestly Thorne is maybe the only announcer in the business who wouldn't be a downgrade from Doc, but even though I enjoy Kenny Albert in general (especially on Fox NFL), I feel like he doesn't translate as well to hockey. Not sure why either, he just seemed kinda flat the times I've listened to him (although maybe I just got used to Doc's over-the-top style). TL;DR ESPN needs to bring back Gary Thorne to give the NHL a proper leading voice after Doc.
  4. This looks like the helmet they would use in a movie about the futuristic NFL in 2050 or something.
  5. The Ravens and O's already incorporate the Maryland flag in just about the perfect way on their respective uniforms. The only thing I could see liking under certain circumstances is if the Ravens went with a subtle sublimation of the MD flag on the sleeves, but my faith in Nike to pull that off tastefully is quite low.
  6. I hate to sound like a curmudgeonly old man but I’m not really a fan of the jersey number rule change. I’ve always been a uniform number nut and after having the current number rules in place it will take a lot of getting used to.
  7. I've only recently began really getting involved with The Ringer, as in regularly checking the website/YouTube channel and listening to some podcasts, as opposed to clicking on links every once in a while. Overall, I really enjoy their content. They have some real talent on there, who are both really informative and also legitimately funny (like Kevin Clark). Every once in a while they come across as so "hip" and "modern" that it wears on you, but overall I like their stuff. That was a really long-winded way to get where I initially wanted to go with this post, which is to say that of all the personalities on The Ringer, Simmons is easily my least favorite (so far). He just comes across with such a huge ego all the time, and I don't get any of the entertainment to balance it out. I watched a few of his Book of Basketball 2.0 videos and they were alright but I enjoyed them more for the sports history, not for Simmons' commentary.
  8. I have consumed 46 crab cakes and now stand alone as the singular Crabcake. In other words, a typical Maryland Friday evening.
  9. There’s an average of two tax relief commercials per break on Baltimore sports radio. One time I finally paid attention to one of them and it was like “the IRS finally caught up with (name)” and then the guy was like “I hadn’t paid my taxes in years.” Seriously? You’re not even going to try and present it like the guy had bad luck or had to pay a bunch of money for some kind of medical procedure or something?
  10. Some immediately spring to mind. The Cundiff Game - 2011 AFC Championship. Lee Evans is one of the luckiest men in recent football history because everyone remembers Cundiff’s shank of the potential game-tying FG, yet many, many less remember Evans dropping the potential game-winning TD the play before. Liverpool losing the 2018 UCL Final by two goals. Goalkeeper Loris Karius had two bowlers and gifted Real Madrid two goals. The Caps have had plenty, but the two OT losses, to the Rangers in G7 in 2015, and to the Penguins in G6 in 2016, spring to mind. The O’s losing G5 of the ALDS to the Yankees, in the first time I remember seeing the Orioles in the playoffs in my lifetime. Getting swept by the Royals also sucked. I realize as I type this that I’ve been incredibly lucky, in that all of these (except the Orioles’) have been resolved later. The Ravens and Liverpool won titles the year after their heartbreaks, and the Caps won the Cup two years after.
  11. I think the Ravens are a small tweak away from having a virtually perfect identity - there should be a stripe on the black pants. They look way too close to yoga pants/leggings imo. Other than that, they’re pretty much good. The purple pants are brilliant, especially with the white and black jerseys, their integration of the MD flag is clever and not too in-your-face, the number font is unique and fits, I like the primary logo, just about everything is perfect. And I’m so glad the gold pants stayed as a one-off idea. It was good to see them experiment with pants since it was just white and black for the longest time, but gold was definitely not the direction to go in.
  12. I’m having this too on mobile. Haven’t tried on desktop. Chrome and Safari both bring up the same issue. Most everything else seems to work, I can change the little tag line above my profile pic, and I can at least adjust the cover photo on my profile as well.
  13. I've had Bacon on a Stick at Camden yards before. It's a thick slice of bacon covered in a maple-and-Old-Bay glaze. Quite good. Camden Yards also has what is called the Triple Crown, which is a hot dog with pulled pork on it, topped with one of the aforementioned bacon slices. Also quite good.
  14. That’s good to hear. Cause it’s been an issue for a solid amount of time now. Posted this comment on my third try after getting pop up ads the previous two times.
  15. Just submitted my second Bad Ad report within about an hour this morning. Have submitted around 6-7 reports in total already. Site is approaching unusable on mobile for me, which btw is how I access the boards about 60-70% of the time.
  16. My PC is fine thanks to AdBlocker. I still unfortunately run into the bad ad issue on my iPhone 7, which has no content blocker installed.
  17. Couldn’t agree more. Arlo White is among the top play by play men in sports currently. They have a great “off-pitch” group of analysts in the Robbies, Kyle Martino, and others. Rebecca Lowe is a fantastic host, and the Men in Blazers are brilliant. All around it makes for a very pleasant viewing experience here in the States.
  18. Fascinating is the perfect word. I really enjoyed this read.

  21. Totally agree. The “Free Wilson” sentiment was huge after his suspension to start the season (which btw I think was totally justified). I think Caps fans almost feel like the league has something against him or something. I don’t get it.
  22. No. But it’s Tom Wilson. If anyone in the NHL has a reputation, it’s him. Having watched the hit myself, I feel like it looked way worse in real time. For most people that’s probably a two or five minute penalty, that’s it. Here’s the conclusion that I come to every time with one of these Wilson hits. Regardless of whether he deserves the punishment for his latest hit, the guy’s got to know better. He’s extremely valuable to this team - we play much, much better with him in the lineup than without him. Knowing this, he needs to dial it way back and not even come close to the line because if he does his reputation will carry him over it. Most Caps fans defend Wilson to a fault and it’s infuriating to me because he does deserve a lot of the punishments he gets, and even though I like him in the lineup because we play better with him, he doesn’t have a good head between his shoulders. He’s immature and needs to realize that his actions are dumb and are hurting his team. He’ll be out of the league before he knows it if he can’t stop.
