  1. Well, considering it's been over a decade since the team last had it as a primary and whenever the topic comes up, people are still saying they should bring it back full-time and multiple players have said they outright prefer the Mighty logo to the current logo...it's clearly pretty damn iconic to have still endured as "the" look for the team in spite of so long not being so. Mighty stuff always sells well, too, that's why they keep on making it despite their reluctance to go back. It's one of the logos most people will know when you ask them about hockey logos, even if they're casual fans of the sport, as "The Ducks". The Webbed D, in all of it's time as the primary logo of this franchise, hasn't really gained that kind of traction.
  2. The marketing firm they hired thought their blue and green was too boring and wanted something aggressive and bold. Their first product of the rebrand was the Flying V, so that should tell you how well that firm knew hockey.
  3. The Webbed D had the problem of being the sequel to one of the most iconic logos in the sport, which is why I don't think it's ever really caught on. If the Ducks had come out of the gate with a logo of that design, it could have staying power...but following up the iconic crossed sticks and duck mask with a wordmark and then an oddly-shaped D...well, it's not exactly flattering to the team's design work that they keep needing to throw back to the MD era in logo and/or colors to create uniforms generally considered among the best in the NHL in a given season (25th anniversary, orange third, RR).
  4. Can we not Canuckjack another thread please lmfao
  5. Eh, I feel like mashing the best of both together produces a more desirable result, personally. There's bits of both that are good; the improved shark on the newer one, the lack of an unnecessary curve on the triangle in the original.
  6. Pittsburgh's back in the muck again, and not in the way they want.
  7. The rabbit hole for Washington keeps going deeper and deeper.
  8. I don't think it's new, actually; here's a Zephyr hat with it; And here's a Mitchell and Ness hat with it;
  9. Sounds like some good news for the Jags' prospects of sticking around in Jacksonville.
  10. Yeah, but the city is officially "Las Vegas"; "Las" was excluded from the team name because the owners felt "Las Vegas Golden Knights" was a bit of a mouthful. Besides, it's not like using the location name and not the team's name is without precedent; 1994 used "New York City", 2003 used "South Florida", 2011 used "Raleigh, NC" rather than just "Carolina".
  11. This just looks like their throwback jersey with a quick striping change and a stupid chrome helmet. Like, why is this franchise seemingly so adverse to having full-time thirds that aren't some variant of silver, grey, white or black? Have some fun with your alternates, LA. You didn't even need to do the RR again, but like even just doing a 80's alt or something would be really fun compared to this.
  12. Unsurprising, given how well the first wave sold. Hopefully this means we get some bolder jerseys from certain teams, like a pedestal from Calgary or maybe a jade Mighty Ducks jersey out of Anaheim.
  13. Counter-counterpoint: that successful season sure as hell didn't help the Senators' attendance in the 2017 playoffs, and Ottawa's about as traditional a hockey market as one could expect. When a team consistently ends up rebuilding after getting close, it's naturally understandable fans wouldn't necessarily be flocking to the stands, especially with how many of them the owner's probably pissed off by this point with all of his antics. Combine those two factors with an decrepit and out of the way arena and attendance is bound to suffer for most teams. "Terrible owner, decrepit arena located way out of the way and low record of consistent success causing dwindling attendance" are the three key ingredients that caused the Expos to move out of La Belle Province, and consensus generally is that Montréal is still a viable baseball market.
  14. And a team in the midst of trying to pull off one of the most blatant relocation ploys in recent memory playing in one of the worst ballparks in the MLB. At the end of the day, this is pretty decent for a team that's both as historically unsuccessful as the Rays have tended to be and are in the midst of trying to fulfil a loudly-broadcasted and massively-unpopular dual city setup. Plus, MLB attendance going down across the board doesn't help matters, either; even markets like NY are seeing declining numbers, so it's really a baseball problem in general.
  15. At least it's not Vince McMahon, he'd just put Roman Reigns and some old vets at every position.
  16. Well yeah, but it's been 5 damn seasons since the Chargers went to LA; the Washington Snyders only dropped it this past season, so at least the slipups there could be more easily handwaved. It's just another sign that the Chargers are still more of a San Diego team than they are an LA team, even now.
  17. Lmao half a damn decade in LA and still people keep calling the Chargers by San Diego instead of LA.
  18. The 2022 Stadium Series logo has been revealed.
  19. Yeah, French-Canadian isn't really a race since it's not a phenotype; there's no physical characters that make someone French-Canadian.
  20. Meanwhile, the broadcast duo of Meyers and Johnston couldn't stop gargling the Rams' dicks by constantly talking about how the Rams would put it together and stage a comeback win instead of saying much of anything about the Cardinals besides "lel lost 8 straight to the Rams". Gotta love when nationally-broadcast games have biased commentary lmao
  21. Same, they're super slick and not as dated-looking as NBC's were.
  22. Wow, they managed to make an already boring uniform even more boring. That takes skill.
  23. Plus, like, you'd think a sports design forum and community would be all over things that enhance team designs in any way with no actual downside.
