No, I'm pretty sure this is the inside of the collar; It's clearly printed on, and you can see a bit of the front of the jersey in the corner, which makes me pretty sure it's a a shot of the collar. This is what I'm assuming is on the front of the jersey; it's very obviously stitched on, not printed on, so it has to be pretty prominent on the jersey; EDIT: Wait, whoops, totally misread that comment lmfao, my bad

Seems like it'll be another wordmark jersey, which I'm sure might piss off some people. I'm just happy they're embracing navy again. Hopefully they'll be using navy buckets instead of the yellow ones and then at the very least pull a Vegas and have both as options for the normal set.

Honestly, I kinda hoped against hope that they'd include the Robopen just to make it a little less like the RR, but I guess Mario being around would've hampered that. I dunno, the 90's jersey with a consistent logo set would actually be pretty nice primaries for Pittsburgh to go with.

Usually when an alternate gets this much prominence, that indicates a potential change in direction with team branding; you saw that with the Coyotes leading up to their return to the Kachina branding. Maybe the Samuellis are finally listening to the fan demand for the Mighty logo to come back, especially when they're coming out of a rebuild and are very near their 30th anniversary? Well, I can dream at least.

The same amount that will've heard of the WHA, the NHA or teams like the Quakers or Bulldogs nowadays, probably. A lot of non-NHL hockey history is considered "obscure" by popular standards, that doesn't necessarily mean it's not worth throwing back to and celebrating. The real problem is more that the Devils half-assed it both ways, so it's neither a proper throwback jersey for the historical crowd nor is it particularly interesting to the people who wanted a black alternate for the Devils. Instead of pleasing both, they pleased neither.

I mean, being fair, there's really only so many ways one can make a hockey arena's seating setup without getting really screwy with layouts. Why change what works and chase after Variety(tm) when what works is good? I'd rather something basic but highly functional over having a chunk of seating cut out for a useless car.

The dumbest thing about that Devils alt is that it seems to prove that they're just, for some reason, absolutely allergic to hem striping in a non-throwback jersey. Here's what the Newark Bulldogs jerseys they're very clearly trying to homage with this third looked like; Put an arched "DEVILS" on the front and actually give it the correct hem and shoulder striping and you have a pretty solid fauxback alternate. Instead, it's just a half-assed design with a baseball script slapped on it. Either go full fauxback or full new design, don't try to do both and succeed at neither.

So it's a screwed-up Newark Bulldogs tribute with a script logo on the front.
