TV cameras in the early 2000's weren't really as good as they are now, though.

That's absolutely true and TVs are also bigger, but the lighting in every rink is still the same and the ice is just as bright ahah. I find most dark jerseys that don't have any white on them generally look great and colorful in person but drab and lifeless on TV. Maybe that's just me, but that's something I noticed

I disagree. Fix the collar and this bad boy is ready to go.

I own the coat of arms version of that jersey and it looks gorgeous in person. Pictures don't do it justice. On TV it looked muddy, though. Not unlike the Kachina jerseys. It looks a bit dated now

The classic set is the best the Flames have ever looked and I’m glad they finally brought them back full-time (even if it should’ve happened 6-7 years ago).

I like the black Flames, but the 2004 red jersey should only be a third.

Maybe the Coyotes should brand themselves as the furry team. Acknowledge a growing percentage of the population with stuff that appeals to that demographic:

    - fursuit contest

    - furry subculture stuff (excluding the less savory stuff)

    - Sonic the Hedgehog themed stuff (many furries love Sonic)

    - furry art contests

    - players commissioning area artists to draw incredibly graphic porn

    - host a furry convention for the Southwest, with zero ban lists*

It’s fun and awful, just like the Coyotes franchise!

*every sane convention shares a ban list, preventing gross and disruptive people from attending. Rainfurrest didn’t follow this list, hence why it turned out like that.

Okay, enough with the furry stuff

Why would they put Kachina all over their social media, make a white Kachina draft hat and say there's a new jersey being released this offseason if they're not changing?

And teams never actually update their NHL sites until official unveilings, anyways. Calgary's site didn't go full retro colors until they officially revealed they were doing that.

Yeah I know but it's the Coyotes lol. I wouldn't put it past them to keep the howling head away jersey for one more year. Why wouldn't they unveil the new jersey at the draft? Nothing they do ever seems to make sense anyway. Maybe I'm just impatient!

I thought that too. I haven't seen an "official" press release (or whatever) of them going back to their old logo. I know it's on all of their social media sites and even the NHL has been using that logo, but I'm shocked nothing "official" has happened yet.

They're still using the howling coyote head on their official website and on the NHL's website where they're announcing the draft picks, so that's puzzling. Somehow I'm not convinced the rumors are true. Either way, what a mess. This team can't do anything right

I would imagine the crest would get lost with a seafoam base, even with a keyline

I dunno. The blue Sabres logo looks fine on their blue jersey. The black Flyers logo looks awesome on a black jersey. The Habs make their red logo work on a red jersey with a blue chest stripe. There are ways to make it work and they could have pulled it off I think

Because navy is their primary color.  I'm hoping for an ice blue third jersey.

No **** lol. What I'm saying is that seafoam should have been the primary color. I'm still hoping the gloves are seafoam blue or that the pants have a thick seafoam blue stripe at the very least. Solid navy gear would look seriously boring

All that is needed is a sleeve patch of some sort, and more navy on the collar

Now that you mention it, the shoulders do look a little bare lol. Can't unsee it now. Jersey is ruined for me 😂

They look great, but I can’t help thinking that they could really use a contrasting collar.

And a contrasting stripe between the two similar looking light blue bands on the sleeves. The more I look at them, the more I like the white jersey and the less Iike the navy one. It's just so dark, it reminds me of a jersey that could have been introduced in the late 90s. Also, the thin red stripe thing, if I were Vegas I would be pissed cause they clearly took inspiration from the Knights jerseys. Why not a seafoam blue home jersey?

Unfortunately I think it has less to do with trying to design a good look and more to do with a new prerequisite to have custom numbers.  I recall reading (probably here) that one of the main motivators for the introduction of unique number fonts is to curb counterfeiters from producing accurate knockoffs.  The Vikings nailed it with a clever tweak to a traditional look, fortified with an extra level of minutiae of doing it on the leading number. The Seahawks and Rams also have the extra layers in addition to the custom shape. I'm afraid that this is the way going forward. Bad structural design and superfluous details on top. It's going to get ugly.

Which is pointless because the people who buy knockoffs don't care about how accurate the details are. As long as it's "close enough" and most importantly, only $22 on some shady overseas website

These prototype jerseys were designed by Tommy Hilfiger in 2000 for the 2001/02 season but were reportedly scrapped after the design leaked.  More Navy dominant than red but still indicative of them wanting to return to their roots.

Right! I remember seeing those on Icethetics now. Or maybe on here, can't remember. Not bad but it feels kinda like an ECHL jersey to me in a way that I can't describe

My guess is that the Devils and LA are just replacing their current alts with their Reverse Retros. Maybe the Pens are doing the same. Jets...maybe a 90's throwback?

Devils and LA, I'd be more than okay with that. Pens, yeah I guess the RR is slightly better than the gold 3rd. They're both very "meh" imo. Jets, hell yeah. That would be nice!

Devils: bringing back the red and green throwback?

    Penguins: double blue throwback?

Jets: probably just one of the WC jerseys promoted to full time? Which is a shame imo, I loved the light blue 3rd with the Jets script

    LA: no idea

Shame. I think the red really pops. The striping is bold, and the look (minus the meh logo) is sharp.

Can we book a red Canes sweater?

Not sure I get the love for the black third, either. In no way should that be elevated to primary status, IMHO, but the team is certainly promoting the third way more than the home.

Imo, the Canes are a team that got it right the first time and every jersey they've unveiled since has been a disappointment. The original jerseys have aged really well and wouldn't look out of place or dated in today's NHL. They had their own identity, they were red from top to bottom but no one could have mistaken them for the Red Wings. I know "just go back to the OG jerseys" is a boring solution but they should have never moved on from them in the first place. I don't like the black jersey either, as a personal rule of thumb, if you need different gear color to go with your 3rd jersey and it's not a throwback, you're straying too far from your identity

    2/32. Washington.

Not gonna lie, I also included the Caps at first but I ended up deleting it before posting lol. The striping/piping is outdated crap obviously, but the color balance is nice, the number font is great and I personally like the logos, so it's definitely in the bottom 5 for me but it's not on Anaheim's level where absolutely nothing is salvageable. They just need to move on from the Edge template for something a little more traditional and keep everything else imo. Something closer to their new 3rd jersey, maybe with a couple more stars so that it doesn't look too bland or generic

So from what I can gather, other than Seattle and special event uniforms, the only new jersey we’re getting next year is Arizona switching to white kachina on the road?

Honestly that's a good thing. I don't think the league as a whole has ever looked that good. I'm not saying every team is perfect  and some could use a few tweaks here and there obviously but Anaheim is the only team with a truly awful set of regular home and away jerseys imo. 1 out of 32 isn't that bad

Baker Mayfield Cleveland Browns Nike Women's Game Jersey - White

Nick Chubb Cleveland Browns Nike Game Player Jersey - Brown

If it wasn't for the neckline, I'd be tempted to buy women's jerseys instead 😅 They're also cheaper!

It's about time they update the cut on those replicas though. Fashion has changed a lot in 20 years and the NBA have finally fixed the stupid looking boxy replicas with the wide shoulders, the NFL needs to follow suit

    no tv numbers

When will they ever make replica jerseys with shorter sleeves? It's almost comical how weird the 3/4 yellow long sleeves look next to the jersey worn by Aaron Donald. So much negative space. I'm not saying I want tanktops but maybe something a little closer to what QBs wear, since most modern designs are made with almost-tanktops in mind anyway, so the replicas end up looking not even close to the real thing

Objectively an all black Raiders uniform doesn’t sound all that great. It doesn’t add a single thing to the brand.

And no, I mean I could care less what a team wore in the 80’s, their brand integrity still matters. Having two helmets can possibly dilute a brand, especially in a sport with as few a games, and with such a cultural focus on a helmet like football.

Not to mention this gets Nike one foot in the door for total NBA-ification.

Its not about solely about what the team wore in the past, yes a historic iconic team like the Raiders or Packers should definitely have 1 helmet only because of their history, but for most NFL teams, it’s about keeping the identity of the team together, people were just arguing about teams looking similar to each other, wouldn’t that increase if teams started having different options for the most important aspect of their uniform?

Yeah yeah I get it. My whole point is that UNTIL the Raiders come out with a black helmet, I'm 99% sure the 2 helmet rule will only be used by certain teams for throwback uniforms and that you're all overreacting for no reason, hence my "knee jerk" comment. Any kind of change to the status quo isn't inherently a negative thing you know?

  18. 5 hours ago, GoHawks said:

I'm not against the Raiders having a black helmet with an all black uni. I think it would work well as an alternate especially since they just moved to Vegas

Yeah it would objectively look great. But some people on here will say it's awful garbage just cause it's not silver and that the Raiders didn't have a black helmet in the 1980s so it's automatically wrong. At this point it's just silly lol. But I get it, when the Habs announced they would be wearing blue jerseys I had the same knee jerk reaction, so I'm not gonna be a hypocrite and pretend I'm better than every else for being more open minded
