  1. The KG uniforms have a lot of very nice things about them, the trees and font fit very well, they aren't obnoxious in a way I find a lot of 90s jerseys, but the color balance of them I've always found a little confusing. There's not really a lot of blue on the home or the alternates, honestly, I find that shade of blue butt ugly but maybe that's because most pictures of it their soaked in KG's sweat. I agree with the sentiment that the Wolves are ultimately 90s expansion team that has had 0 like, identifiable identity besides being bad and losing 5 years of first round picks twice, so I think they can play outside the box of their Known Color Scheme.
  2. This is silly, no offense. I guess I kinda get launch angle, it's not really that interesting most of the time, but complaining about the velocity is like complaining about showing the distance for each HR. It's not analytic in that context, it's just cool to see something was hit harder then how fast most cars go.
  3. honestly, i wouldn't mind if the grey-lime green look became the base of a rebrand, at least colorwise. i normally hate when alternates become the base of a rebrand, but honestly i don't think i like any wolves jerseys besides the first set (the KG ones are such a good idea, i just don't think they looked great besides the black ones), and their insistence on being a primarily blue little to no green team is very frustrating to me, especially given that their current ones are two very dull blues. i think their current brand is Fine, i don't hate it like i did the K-Love ones, but i think there could be a lot better things done. or just make a white version of their 2022 city jerseys...that'd be fine too.
  4. I would also say either the Utah trade that got Magic in LA, or the Nets-Celtics trade is worse then the Kobe Divac one. Both Utah and Brooklyn got absolutely nothing, at least Charlotte got some 50 win seasons where Vlade was one of their best players. Regardless as a biased Wolves fan, I do say it's a bit too early to judge the Gobert trade but, it isn't looking good, though I doubt it'll turn into the nonstop disaster the Nets trade was. Knock on wood.
  5. I think the biggest thing is that the Mavs basically said "No" in trying to get into the play-in, which has been the NBA's biggest move to stop tanking. It isn't like they were 8 games out of a spot, and just kinda gave up and used the whole "We didn't Luka to get hurt/We wanted to see what we had in our young guys", they very easily could've made the play-in, and with Kidd saying he got the message from Cuban, and not just a fake injury excuse...yeah even as someone who mainly thinks tanking really isn't a problem, you can't really do that well saying that's what you're doing.
  6. The thing I really do find so utterly bizzare about the De-teal-ifcation of the Florida Marlins jerseys, is that I don't really think they were like the original Devil Ray's or Diamondbacks, where they both were fairly out there and retreated before gaining love in retrospect. Sure teal isn't a traditional color, but even the original set used it super tastefully, and the jersey designs themselves and wordmarks weren't like...anything that weird. I get why black became the predominant color, that's not really rare especially around then, but the complete lack of teal by the end is just crazy.
  7. Well I actually think people are way too harsh on the current jerseys and logo, though yes the main alt being black with black text is irksome, those throwbacks are gorgeous, and I don't think it's just nostalgia. As some have said in the thread, they pop so well in HD compared to how they were in the 90s, it's honestly made me see them in a total new light.
  8. Obviously they aren't truly irrelevant, but I mean, look through out NFL history, with what's remembered and shown in those docs, iconic pictures, and NFL films stuff, or hell even iconic players, the Cardinals as a team, and as a result, their brand, are utterly abandoned and forgotten about, outside of Super Bowl 43, and maybe when they talk about Ottis Anderson prior to Super Bowl 25. I think they should stick with red white and black, because it looks good, but I think overhauling the brand isn't really ridiculous or unquestionable, it's fairly logical, and if it looks good, it looks good, and frankly I don't think we're losing that much. I think people know that if they change colors, the team isn't magically become good, but the teams brand has been a mess for nearly 20 years and needs fixing, and if it looks good with a overhaul, that's fine, there's no real cardinals tradition.
  9. For me, it's less about tradition (I actually the white helmets and grey facemasks, which seems to be unpopular) and more about the fact that just, I think Red white and Black is a really solid color scheme, and I haven't really seen much where making yellow a primary color looks good. I think they could, and I hope, they keep that color scheme, and just simplify it a bit without going totally retro. That said, I actually do like a lot of the ideas involving Sandy colors so to speak, but I kinda doubt that'll happen.
  10. I mean, the original Chiefs logo and the Dallas Texans logo both had yellow in them, and the Cardinals have basically never used yellow. The Chiefs, despite the logo, are The Red and Yellow NFL team, and the Cardinals aren't really anything, but the closest they would be is Red and White with some black, which I guess is what the Chiefs logo is lol. Regardless any bellyaching about how they might look like the Chiefs is just silly, with the Cardinals shade of red and presumably darker shade of yellow, they'd look more Washington or USC then the Chiefs.
  11. I always really thought this is what the Cardinals should look like, though I really doubt this is what they'll go with. Their the oldest franchise, Red and White is not a super common main color combo in the NFL despite being classic, and it looks good. But I really doubt it's what they'll go with, I think they'll either really lean into black, which would stink, or lean into the Sandy, Arizona flag look, which...I think can look good, but I haven't seen many concepts or examples where I really love it.
  12. Are the Vince ones really wrong ? They seem fairly popular, maybe not as much as the original stripes one, but definitely the 2nd most loved uniform in the teams history. Definitely agree with Bosh though, or Jose Calderón if you think he's more well remembered as a Heat player. I mean...Allen was still an active player, who had left on not the best terms, it would've been incredible bizzare if they retired 34 before Giannis got drafted. Same thing with like Carmelo and Jokic with the Nuggets.
  13. Would Brady have won more rings with those Packers teams ? Maybe, but I mean...just look at the differences in how their defenses performed in 2014 against the Seahawks, and yes Rodgers didn't play great in the game, he was kinda hobbled, but he still did what he needed to do to win, but his defense literally never even gave him a chance in overtime, whereas Brady's defense got a goal line pick. Like, I'm not saying Brady didn't deserve to win that Super Bowl, or that his entire career is luck, because that's kind of weird conversation, but I just don't see how you can say that it comes down to Rodgers as a QB being the reason they didn't win more. From 2011-2016, they had a lot of bad luck, and way too much loyalty to Dom Capers, and sure you can say Rodgers underperformed in 2019 and 2020, but those were kind of team wide disasters, 2021 is really the only one I'd put the loss as a yes, maybe a different QB could've gotten the job done. And TBH, I don't think saying Rodgers is more talented then Brady, or that you would take Rodgers at his peak over Brady, is really something horribly wrong or silly. I'd say the same for a few other QBs as well, and who knows! Maybe if Rodgers played with defenses that held some of the best offenses ever to 3 points in the post season, twice, 14 years apart, he would've won more.
  14. The Rodgers backlash the past couple years as it pertains to playoff success is just bizzare to me. Is the fact that someone as talented as him never made it back to the Super Bowl a disappointment ? Yes, absolutely, but also, how many QB's have 3 straight years in the playoffs where they tied the game in the 4th, and then just never got the ball back the rest of the game ? Like, a lot of the Packers exits aren't really on him, and there isn't a lot more he could do. He could've, and should've been better in 2011, 2021, or even 2020, but Packers defense routinely failed at really helping them at all.
  15. The Oilers uniforms are kinda undeniable better then the Titans, but I actually don't think it would've looked better then what we got. I think the darker blue and lack of red matches much better against that Rams set.
  16. Didn't they move back to the white helmet a few years before the one helmet rule ? I know the Bucs wore orange throwbacks in 2012, and the Bills were already in their white helmets by then. Was the one helmet rule planned that far in advance ?
  17. Ohhh, love the idea for this topic. I've been on a big time NFL kick, so I'll post some of the ones I've noticed just when watching old NFL films stuff!
  18. I don't think the issue with Malone is just that he wasn't there for his kid, I think the issue stems from the fact he had sexual relations with a 12 year old, and then left her and her family to take care of another kid, well he was making millions in the NBA. I agree that most NBA fans who bring this up, probably aren't doing it because they care about SA or anything like that, given that most NBA fans are overtly sexist, but I also think it's plenty reasonable and completely understandable someone doesn't wanna see a genuine...something or other, be actively propped up by the NBA.
  19. I'm kinda shocked but happy that she did All Of The Lights, that's probably the best pop song of the decade. Wasn't able to catch much else though.
  20. It's cool to see Dr. J love, I think him and Oscar weirdly have gotten kind of memory holed for a lot of recent NBA fans. If you look at just old basketball discussion, among players, writers and coaches and that type of stuff, those two were always really well regarded, Dr. J seemingly even more so then Kareem for a time, but people never really talk about either like that nowadays. I guess due to the fact that less and less people are around who saw them play, and the ABA as a whole kind of being forgotten about as we get further and further away from it. Kinda sad.
  21. I think it's more so because all of LeBron's "choking" happened in semi recent memory, whereas most of MJ's career is almost 30 years old. I think in time, probably like 10 years, we will see less and less of things like the 2017 and 2018 finals held against LeBron, and the context like the eastern conference in those years being weak will kind of fade. 2011 will always stick around though, and I imagine it'll be viewed like how the 1990 ECF are for Jordan, or the 1995 SCF. I think we've already seen a bit of it to be honest, how many people seriously bring up the 07 finals against LeBron ? Not anyone seriously. Though, to be honest on the whole debate, I think people underrate the teams MJ played in the finals, even as someone who thinks LeBron is better. The only weak team I would say were those Jazz teams, as it the west was kind of rebuilding, and that 98 Lakers team kind of just choked. The 96 Sonics are probably the best team of the 90s to not win a title.
  22. It's not hockey, but just this year Anthony Edwards posted a video of himself insulting gay men for really 0 reason. I, as a q/ueer person, basically know a vast majority of players in male sports, more likely then not, are not tolerated of who I am, so I kind of just have to accept it, but I do think having a pride night here and there can help members of the LGBTQ+ community not feel so damn unwelcomed by sports. Is punishing players for not wanting to participate the best idea ? I honestly don't know, but I don't think getting rid of them just because some players are vocal about their intolerance is the solution either. There are so many reasons people in general, but specifically men in sports are q/ueerphobic, having pride nights isn't gonna fix that, I know that, but I think it helps normalize LGBTQ+ people among others who don't have strong feelings, and it's a small, if somewhat hallow, gesture of goodwill from a medium that has told me, for basically my entire life, it doesn't want me to be a fan and doesn't respect who I am.
  23. That ref statement is honestly one of the most embarrassing things in sports, I really can't believe it's real. I am getting kinda sick of hearing about refs/umps in sports, and getting all these two minute reports, or official league statements about calls, or ump score cards. They don't seem to make the product better, it's not like the worst refs or umps (who, at least in baseball, tend to be the longest tenured) would care and the leagues can't do much to them, it just gives sports fans more reasons to claim things are rigged against them, and only them, and no one wants that. I would much rather just live with mistakes and move on, their gonna be apart of the games whether we like them or not.
  24. To be honest, the black on the white jerseys I always felt were fine, and fairly tasteful. It's when the shorts became black and when they added it to the green jerseys that I think it got really ugly. I'm sorry but having Kelly green being so prominent on a jersey and then having a fair amount of black on it just kinda throws it off for me, it looks gross. Though I imagine the reason why people defend it more is because of the finals team, but I wasn't alive then so...
  25. The Allen stuff is really silly, the Bills are a really good team, and their gonna be a consistently <.500 team for as long as Allen is there and healthy. Is this year kind of a disappointment ? Yeah, I'd say so, especially with how good they looked to start, but it takes players having career years, and a lot of luck to win in the NFL. I think it'd be a mistake to overhaul much besides add defensive talent, and maybe a legit #2 receiver (ofc easier said then done).
