Wow, that's unbelievable. They must have paid handsomely for the rights. If it were a matter of simply getting on FM, WTMJ could have worked out a simulcast with WKTI and kept the AM for outstate listeners. Woooooow. I hate seeing this as much as I hated seeing the Cubs leave WGN and the Cardinals leave KMOX. Some broadcast relationships should stay forever.

A great theory I read was that this makes the radio deal more marketable. TMJ has such a strong signal that it can be tough to sell the programming around the state.  Now 97.3 won't have the 60000 Watt blowtorch, so you sell the programming to little stations all over the state, who can then sell their part of the broadcast.

Oh yes you can...ever been to a Steeler game at Heinz? Or anywhere in town while the game's going on?  If so, you've heard this about eleventeen pazillion times more than you need to...

Listen at your own risk.  (This doesn't even count the dolt who made a whole song out of mispronouncing Troy Polamalu's last name.)

That said...I've been to Lambeau twice (though not to a game...YET). For what I have to say about it, Cheeseheads are some of my favorite fans to converse with. They (y'all?) know they're spoiled with success, but don't act all entitled or pretentious with it, unlike a certain fanbase anchored in western Pennsylvania (or North Texas--but that's a different discussion).  Y'all good with me, man!

    1 - I haven't been to a Stillers game at Heinz yet.

    2 - You wanna come to Lambeau? I know a guy 🙂

Yeah you mean the super cheesy fight song from the late 60's.

They stopped playing it for a while, but leaned into it over the last 15 years and now hearing it after scores is the most fun part of any game. I love that game ops is embracing more and more of the late 60's camp they were born out of instead of trying to pretend we're cool in any way.

I'm glad you had fun, but that's a most basic Steelers fan move and they are the Worst People AliveTM. I'm not mad, just disappointed. 😄

Yeah, sorry about that. This is where self-aware Packer fan (me) says that you really can't get any cheesier (pun intended) than Go Pack Go over the PA at Lambeau. We think we're cute on the road. We don't mean to be bad people, let alone the Worst People Alive, but we aren't all self-aware.

The fans I dealt with in Cincy were awesome. Lots of fun talking back and forth about the game and all.

We do! Since at least whenever it was that Guns and Roses released "Welcome to the Jungle", but probably before that too.

Their new thing this year is the ultra corny "Ruler of the Jungle" for each game. Here's first ever draft pick Bob Johnson getting the honor. I love it.

The good news is the o-line has improved to league average and he's taking way fewer hits. And with the defense being what it is they don't have to throw the ball 60 times a game to keep up. It's always in the back of my mind, but I'm a lot less worried about it than I was this offseason.

Ultra corny, but given that y'all tie it in with that old song from when the team began (at least I assumed that was when it was from) that leads into Who Dey - yeah. It works.

Not saying we didn't start chanting We Dey a few weeks ago, but that's what happens when you win on the road.

Well, considering it's been over a decade since the team last had it and whenever the topic comes up, people are still saying they should bring it back full-time and multiple players have said they outright prefer the Mighty logo to the current logo...it's clearly pretty damn iconic to have still endured as "the" look for the team in spite of so long not being so.

It's one of the logos most people will know when you ask them about hockey logos, even if they're casual fans of the sport, as "The Ducks". The Webbed D, in all of it's time, hasn't really gained that kind of traction.

That it is liked by people doesn't make it iconic. That's not what that word means.

The Webbed D had the problem of being the sequel to one of the most iconic logos in the sport, which is why I don't think it's ever really caught on.

If the Ducks had come out of the gate with a logo of that design, it could have staying power...but following up the iconic crossed sticks and duck mask with a wordmark and then an oddly-shaped D...well, it's not exactly flattering to the team's design work that they keep needing to throw back to the MD era in logo and/or colors to create uniforms generally considered among the best in the NHL in a given season (25th anniversary, orange third, RR).

Really? I get that it came from the movie, but does anyone ELSE think this is true?

    2 outlines is too many?

‘K you don’t have to like them, but they fit the overall set with the pointed numbers, and wordmark.

They can get rid of that easily with no real change to the overall set.

yea “chrome” was dumb to put on the shoulders but is barely visible and could get rid of them with little notice.

the pants had stripes they were just typical Nike pants stripes from this time period

2 outlines yes. But considering the number color and the jersey color are also different, you've got 4 colors lined up next to each other. That's too many.

If something could be gotten rid of with little notice, it was unnecessary to begin with.

Assuming those pants in that picture had stripes, you couldn't see them.

I agree. I may be in that minority that didn't mind the Jags' prior sets. A little too busy, and the half black/half gold helmets were ridiculous, but there was a lot to like in there.

Other than the use of color, what are the 'lot to like' here?

Too many outlines on the numbers

    Pointy things on the shoulders

Nickname of a nickname on a patch
    Sublimated stripes on the shoulders

    Stripeless pants

BTW - these aren't likes, IMO

That was an @infrared41 thread, which I used to enjoy, even though I didn't always with his picks.  It always generated good discussion.

With his permission, I wouldn't mind taking the torch and do my own 3+2 (or however many it was) type thread and let people rip me a new one.  It could even be called "Infrared41's 3+2 by BBTV" or something.  It just wouldn't be posted until Tuesday, unless the MNF game was an obvious non-factor.

We obviously don't want everyone creating their own best-of threads, so I'm asking the Majestic12 for the green light for a one-off.  @infrared41?

I'll  bet you get about a 24-3 vote in your favor.

I watched the video, and the fan interviewed at the end did seem to confirm the inconvenient location issue that some here have been mentioning.  While I don't know if there's any evidence it would succeed in Ybor City, I'm certainly more willing to accept that it hasn't been given the fair chance I maybe thought it had been.

One thing I don't understand, is how the split-city plan calls for two small stadiums.  That doesn't make sense, unless they're conceding that very few people will come even if it's centrally located.  Playing half the games in one city doesn't mean that the stadium only has to support half the people.  I don't really understand the logic - if it's all financially based, wouldn't having more people in there increase revenue?  And if they don't think more people would come, why are they even considering this, rather than looking elsewhere (maybe there is no elsewhere?)

As soon as one gets approved the other is deep sixed and the stadium magically gets larger because they're only building one.

I'm curious to hear a neutral (more or less) opinion on this --

The Ravens decision to run a play with :03 left to keep their 100 yard rushing streak alive was:

    A.   An egregious affront to the principles of sportsmanship and the unwritten rules of the game; or

    B.   Simply part of playing until the end of the game (and if you don't like the decision, then stop them from picking up the necessary yardage)

    C. Harbaugh caring about a "record" very few people know about to do this is entirely in his character. To his point, if Denver isn't throwing to the end zone right before this, it doesn't happen.

It's good internet anger fodder, but much ado about nothing.

This is very interesting to me. I normally don’t buy into things like this, but I can’t help but feel like this one’s legit. If you look at the designer’s site that article links to, the quality of those mockups look too nice for it to be fake to me. If it is fake, it’s an extremely nice Photoshop job.

ALL it is is a Photoshop. It looks like a creation in a more modern format than what was typical of the time. The Nikespeak, website, presentation all look good, but I don't buy that this was a real consideration by the Eagles.

Maybe some of the pros here could comment on whether they would be allowed to share a work product like this after the fact.

I agree. This is a case where I would be full on board for a gray mask.

also a good time to revisit the prototype unused uniforms from 2012. Not perfect, but I love the colors.

    spacer.png

Is that a prototype, or just someone's concept?

That doesn't look like 2012 style presentation, frankly.

It's just that bengal tigers and white-bengal tigers are different things, but they're trying to be both at once.  This isn't a case of "well, Lions aren't blue", because the team is using the true colors of their mascot, so the stripes should be black behind an orange background (I know the underbelly is white, but keeping it simple is better.)

I'm not saying they botched the update, but it could have been better without too many additional changes (basically just orange sleeve caps, and make the stripes black on the black jersey.)

Not a fan of sleeve caps - because sleeve real estate is decreasing.

I think the thing that makes the Colts case unique is that their jersey stripes could be considered vertical , as well. That, paired with the helmet & pants stripes obviously being vertical, would make the horizontal sock stripes just seem out of place to me.

Clearly I disagree. Given that the pants stripe is next to the sock stripe, I don't see this as a factor.

To each their own, or this place wouldn't be the fun it is. 🙂

The one reason why I wouldn’t want white stripes on the road for the Colts is that the sock stripes would (presumably) be horizontal, while the rest of the stripes in their uniform are pretty much vertical. I’d prefer plain blue or white socks for them in that case.

I do like the Bears wearing white pants with their white-striped socks on the road on rare occasion, though. I also wouldn’t mind if the Browns wore their white pants & white-striped combo a bit more often. Have they even worn that combo yet with this new set?

Overall, I don’t mind the “white-out” look as much as some others do, in certain instances I actually quite like it. It does seem to be getting a bit out of hand though, with cases such as the Lions and the Saints just adding plain white pants being especially egregious.

Eh - pants stripes on any team are vertical. Sock stripes are going to be horizontal.

Its why I think if Antonio Brown can keep his stupid ass out of trouble, he might make a great commentator. I think Gronk or Travis Kelce would as well. Why? They’re interesting. Drew Brees right now is so bland I’m paying more attention to his suspiciously thickened hairline than I am to anything he’s saying.

His hair isn't suspicious at all. There's probably billboards in New Orleans touting his procedure like there are in Chicago for Urlacher.
