  1. That is some name that college has, but I really like what you did with the uniform. Well done!
  2. Thanks for the feedback vtgco! Between you and NicDB I think this is moving in a real nice direction now. I was thinking USL Championship based on the size of the stadium being built, that said I have to claim ignorance to the Philadelphia Union look so any similarities would be a coincidence (I don't watch MLS really). That feedback helps me see how it doesn't work for others; I'd looked at it so much that I was struggling to see any issues with the resemblance, haha. I did try with using a sun instead of the ball but within the roundel it just came off as a large negative space so I think I'll take the primary in the monogram direction moving forward. I'm going to try both a 414 logo redesigned with that monogram font, and some monograms based on the roundel text & 414 logo font. My next post will likely have another several designs for people to look at for both the primary and secondary. Once those are hammered out I'll go back and take another look at the uniforms. I do think something cool can be done with the wood barrel theme, but I think if I bring that back it may be for a separate design based on the name "Brew City FC" which is something I initially was going with before switching to Cream City. I'm feeling at this stage both the brick and wood barrel work well as main themes for a design, but combining them muddled both looking back on the first design I posted here.
  3. As promised, I have both a selection of 6 different options for a primary logo combining and tweaking various elements, and some uniform concepts to share! Option 1 is the primary logo from the last share-out for easy comparison. Options 2 and 3 both keep the same general concept, but in both I altered the blue bricks into solid blue layers to make the cream bricks more distinct, and in 3 specifically I made the bricks slightly larger and the blue layers thinner. Options 4-6 all switch out the half-brick/half-ball design for a full cream wall with CC monogram. 4 & 5 share a monogram design while #6 has a separate concept. In #5 I wanted to try out extending the brick pattern to the outer layer since that is also cream colored, so that is the only difference between 4 & 5. What led to #6 is not wanting to lose the ball imagery from the logo; both the Bucks and the Brewers work the shape of the ball itself into their logos, so I wanted to maintain that theme into this logo and the font I used for one of the C's was wide enough to work with the idea. I put the other C behind it in #6 to not obscure the soccer ball pattern. The uniforms were made using Owayo's 3D Product Designer (I do not have a soccer template); I imported my colors and logos into the site and selected the uniform patterns from their selection. I made these using the logos from the last share-out I did, but they won't change the uniform concept much on their own. I used the line patterns to create a block pattern along the front of the chest and around the legs of the shorts, as well as on the left sleeve. The primary logo is on the left chest and right shorts leg, and the secondary logo gets a spot on the right sleeve.
  4. No it's all good, the ideas are good to help get a design to the best place it can get to be. I'll admit I was feeling really good about that last one but it's always good to improve if able so its appreciated. I've been playing with a few different tweaks of varying degrees from where the primary logo currently is so I'll probably post a few options at once for the primary at some point to get opinions on the best way to go.
  5. Before doing the People's Flag inspired interior I actually did experiment with a full cream brick interior and trying to put something over it, but the iterations I tried were feeling too busy. If what I came up with isn't working (I thought it is, but that's why we share designs to see if others agree haha) I may give it another try. Something I hadn't tried yet was a CC monogram; I'll give that some thought. I'm also giving some thought into possible uniforms based on what I have so far so I may have some of those to share soon too.
  6. Thanks for the feedback so far! I took both comments in and decided to streamline the primary logo concept. While the museum, beer industry, cream bricks are all related to Milwaukee they aren't related much to each other, which I agree cluttered the identity a bit. I took NicDB's suggestion on focusing more on the cream bricks that the Cream City nickname came from, and created an homage to that People's Flag that is popular in the area, using the bricks as the stripes in the bottom half of the circle and the soccer ball for the top half. I kept my concept for the secondary logo, but did some adjustments to try and make the 4's and the 1 a bit more pronounced and smooth it out a bit. I think it's an improvement, but I'll wait for you all to tell me if it's working better (my brain knows what it's meant to be so its harder for me to see why it doesn't work haha).
  7. Hello everyone! I recently read about a new stadium/concert venue being announced in Milwaukee with an expected completion date in 2024. Part of the article and follow up news pieces have mentioned plans to bring a Pro Soccer team to Milwaukee. Thus far they have not said what league, but since the stadium will seat about 8,000 people it's not going to be MLS. USL Champions League or the NWSL seem like the best bets to me. The news got me thinking about what the team could look like and it brought me back to a concept I first developed and posted a few years ago; Cream City FC. It was conceived as part of a series imagining what sports teams in various leagues could look like if they were owned by the Bucks and used similar brand traits. Having had a couple years of separation and no need to tie it directly to the Bucks' branding I decided to take another shot at this concept. I give you the updated Cream City FC! Cream City is one of Milwaukee's nicknames and I think it's best one. Given the name 'Cream City', I had to have a cream color featured in it. I paired that with navy and sky blue colors based on the Milwaukee People's Flag and white. EDIT: You can see a larger post of the final Cream City FC logo designs in the last post of Page 1, and all the uniforms together on the first post of Page 2. EDIT 2: My most recent design for the 2nd concept- Smelting Milwaukee FC- can be seen here. Posts for that concept start on Page 2. As noted in the branding sheet, the center of the roundel is based on the side of a wooden beer barrel, with the blue seal around the edge and the soccer ball where a tap would be. The design above the ball (which is of course basis for the secondary logo) is a combined reference to both Milwaukee's 414 area code and the distinctive architecture of the Milwaukee Art Museum. I mirrored the 4 on both sides of the 1 to create wings similar to the museum's design.
  8. These are really nice! If I were trying to nitpick to find possible things to build on it, I would try on the home/away doing a single thicker, curved green line to match the stripe along the shoulders (maybe do a thinner blue stripe curved to match it). The one thing I don't really like is the shoulder numbers on the home/away; they just feel too big for the space. Maybe try making them a bit smaller? One the throwback, you could consider doing a green triple stripe on the pants with the darker blue between the green lines to again match the shoulder stripe pattern, but I can imagine not wanting to do too many changes to a throwback uniform design. Overall though, again, these are some real good designs!
  9. I'd agree that there is such a variety in label shapes that no one shape will automatically read BBQ; especially given how varied the regional preferences are. Something that may register as a prominent shape in one area will be unrecognizable in others. Maybe focus on a different shape that's a bit more uniform, like the outline of a rack of ribs or a T-Bone steak, or a grill. You could possibly design the KC like a brand seared on top. Since you're going in the BBQ direction, I'd also be interested in playing with the red color to skew it to a shade closer to the color of BBQ sauce, but it may be too much of a departure and too close to Washington so it may not work.
  10. And we're back with the final team, the 1950 era Los Angeles Rams. I didn't want to just assume it would be modernized in the way it was in real-life, so I approached it as trying to make a modern rendition of the 1950 era logo directly. I decided to try to use the blue to give the design some more depth in areas and try to make the ram horns feel more round, as in the original they come off kind of boxy to me. I also tried to give the Ram face a more pronounced appearance. To sum the series up, I decided to put together this graphic imagining what the NFL's primetime schedule would look like if all these teams survived to the modern day. It seemed like a fun way to put every logo in one display. This also includes the updated 1961 Packers logo I did in another thread that inspired this series of logos. I hope everyone has enjoyed this! I may return to this with some helmets, I'm not sure if there's any interest in that but a couple of the teams are calling to me to make a helmet for them so this thread may continue, but I'm not sure yet. C & C is always appreciated, and if people want to see it continue to helmets please let me know. Thanks and enjoy!
  11. I can kind of see it now that it's said. The way the ends of the N shift from white to darker colors does give a mammoth tusk impression now that I'm thinking of it. Maybe an unofficial mascot similar to the bulldog for the Cleveland Browns? Thanks for checking it out!
  12. So I decided to go ahead with a possible rebrand of Duluth to a non-indigenous name, since it's pretty likely if the team made it to this point they would not have kept the name. So I'm going to introduce the Duluth Nevers! The name honors the team's history, as Hall of Famer Ernie Nevers played for and was an owner of the team for part of their time in the NFL. The logo puts an N front and center, with the ends wrapping around behind the letter to connect in a never-ending loop. I also decided to swap the light purple color out for a silver/gray color. In addition, I'm going to share out my concept for the old Detroit Heralds. I kept the DH being the main focus of the logo, but enclosed the H in the D so that it would feel like one graphic instead of two, and I worked a horn with a banner hanging down into the H to give it some character related to the identity. I added a blue to the logo, as that just feels like a good fit for a Detroit franchise to me given other teams using similar colors. Tomorrow will be the redone 1950 Rams logo as well as a summary graphic of all the logos. Hope you all enjoy!
  13. I'll hope I get some more feedback on some of the last couple postings, but I'm going to move forward with the next entry on my list: the Duluth Eskimos. I was tempted to give them a larger rebrand, as names based on Indigenous groups are not exactly looked upon well these days (and I may do another post along those lines in the future) but for the sake of this project I elected to assume the team would pull a Washington and hold onto the name as long as they could. This logo was the best I could find for a source or reference, so I went with the colors that were described on Wikipedia (though the hex code for Midnight Blue came out looking pretty purple to me but it works here) and added a lighter purple which felt like a good fit and give them a pretty unique color scheme. The original appeared like it was supposed to be a geometric shape but rounded off kind of, so I decided to update it with a more aggressive, angular outline, and placed a greater emphasis on the 3D nature and shading of the igloo design. The new wordmark font evoked a cool, smooth sense of ice to me so I went with it. I got two teams left; Detroit and Los Angeles. Both are nearly completed, so I will either share them both tomorrow or over the next two days depending on how active this thread is at the time. I was also thinking about making some helmets for these updated teams; I don't have a uniform template at this time but I do have a pretty good helmet template so if anyone would be interested in seeing some helmets with these designs please let me know! As always, C & C is also appreciated, thanks!
  14. Greetings! Time to share the next design, the Milwaukee Badgers! The general concept behind this one to me was pretty strong; but whether it was the picture I could find or the actual logo but it definitely needed to be cleaned up a bit. My main changes were to the wordmark; I have it a more modern font that I felt worked well with the overall design of the logo, while giving it an outline to match the Badger itself. I wasn't sure if that light yellow in some places was due to age of the image or part of the design, but I decided to make those parts the same eggshell color I used on the rest of the light areas.
  15. I got the next logo ready to drop tonight. Let's check out the Akron Pros. This patch was the only logo I could find online, so I am hoping it's accurate for them. I liked the idea of the overlapping AP as well as how it looks to use the gold for the letter with red drop-shadows and black outlines so I kept that concept, but switched the font to something clearer and easier to read on a helmet or score bug and possessing a more aerodynamic feel to it. The wordmark carries through the same changes, using the same font as the logo itself. It was a simple change that really changed the look and feel of the logo despite using the same basic concept, layout, colors, etc. Hope you all like it, but C & C is always appreciated!
  16. Here's the other one I had ready to drop today. Let's take a look at the updated Dayton Triangles! I used the source logo's dark blue, but decided to add a lighter blue to compliment it and the white. I decided to embrace the geometric nature of the name (I know they were named after the park they called home, not the shape) with the updated wordmark font and logo by introducing some sharper angles along seams and shadows and the overall player design. I modernized the player's appearance to have modern equipment and uniform, and beveled the triangle to give it a more interesting and geometric appearance.
  17. I've gotten some flack in the past about being too liberal with changing color schemes or logo concepts in a similar modernization project so I've been extra cautious on that issue this go around, but based on this feedback and information I have confidence to do it on this one. Plus I prefer the red look. I actually had some time last night (by that I mean insomnia lol) so I was able to put in some time on revising this one and have it ready to go! I think this is a definite upgrade, I hope others agree. Thanks for the feedback!
  18. Something about the football had felt a bit off at times to me but I was not sure why, but I think you nailed it. I'll try that idea to see what I can do with it. A revision may not be the next thing I share, but I'll definitely come back to this one and try that change out. Agreed about the burnt orange color. It's not my favorite, but it's the color in the original logo (sampled it directly from that image) so I stuck with it. I don't want to start changing team colors much beyond adding a color or two here or there at the risk of getting too far away from the original team identities. Thanks for the feedback!
  19. I know there hasn't been much time for people to see and/or react to the Toledo logo, but I'm going to go ahead and move forward with my next one, which is an update to this logo used by the Chicago Cardinals. Nothing too drastic with this update. I mainly tried to clean it up and simplify it in some respects, while adding some interesting touches to other areas. The ball in the original is a lot of empty white space, so I tried to introduce some shades of black and silver to give it some depth and make it more interesting to look at. Since I shaded the ball I also added a slightly darker cardinal color to shade the underside of the Cardinal as well. C & C is appreciated as always. Not sure what I'll put out next but I should be able to put something out again tomorrow. I hope you all enjoy!
  20. We're back! Today I have a concept for the Toledo Maroons to show off. The original logo doesn't give a lot to work with frankly, but I kept with its original concept of being a T. I did thicken the font and create some negative space inside of it; this was mainly to allow me to create the appearance of a letter M (for Maroons of course) inside of the shape while it could still on a quick view appear as a T. The little flare out on the bottom calls back to the original having the tips sticking out on the bottom and ends and gives it a bit more aggressive profile. The original colors were Maroon and White, so I gave it a 3rd Silver since most logos now have 3 or colors as a standard and it's a color that plays well with both Maroon and White. Looking forward, on request I've added the Duluth Eskimos to the list, and I added the 1950 Los Angeles Rams to the docket as well. The next team to be unveiled I believe will be the Chicago Cardinals, but that could change. As always C & C is appreciated and encouraged, and I hope you all enjoy!
  21. Thanks, appreciate it! I am planning to give the Toledo Maroons the maroon & silver treatment, but it didn't take much to change a color so here's the Legion doing their best Racine Raiders impersonation. Hope you like it! Also, for anyone who is interested I am planning to list the teams I am going to try to tackle on the first post. I'm open to suggestions if there's an old team logo that anyone would like to see updated.
  22. People saying that doesn't surprise me at all, but I also would fall into the camp that thinks it's a good look for them. Plus, isn't the point of alternate uniforms partially so that a team can do something outside of the box with their look once in a while without making a fulltime commitment to a change? It's the perfect opportunity for a tradition-heavy team to experiment a little. These are well done, you were able to add to the designs without taking away from the timeless nature of their current uniforms.
  23. Greeting's all! I recently posted a concept that I enjoyed creating for updating the Green Bay Packers logo, as it was in 1961 (that thread and design can be viewed here). I have decided that I want to keep going and try my hand at some other logos from the past, whether they be defunct teams or logos no longer in use by current existing franchises. The goal will be to update the designs, ideally with minimal changes to the basic design concept. The first logo of this expanded series is going to be the Racine Legion, who played in the NFL from 1922-1924 (the team had returned in 1926 but under a new name). Starting out at least most of these will likely be Midwest/Great Lakes region teams as those are ones I know best starting off. I did take a bit more liberty to add onto this logo than I did the '61 Packers update. This was based partially on the simplicity of the original logo, and in part because- had the team endured- it would have had 100 years for the logo to evolve beyond a simple letter and lines. That said, all of the additions drew inspiration from aspects of the team's roots and identity. The shield in the center was inspired by the idea of a Roman Legionnaire's shield, while the idea of adding the wreath and star behind it came from imagery associated with the American Legion, whom the Legion were named after. Aside from inverting the color from Maroon to White, I kept the original R logo as-is and front and center in the new look. While not in the original logo, the team did use gold in its uniforms based on pics I found online so here I added it to the logo itself. It also again reminds me of imagery of Roman Legionnaires so it works on that front also. C & C is always welcome, but I hope you all enjoy! EDIT: I thought it would be good to put a list of teams I have plans on updating. If there's a team logo you'd like to see updated that's not on the list feel free to share! Done: Green Bay Packers (1961) - In the other linked thread. Racine Legion Toledo Maroons Chicago Cardinals (with later revision) Dayton Triangles Akron Pros Milwaukee Badgers Duluth Eskimos (also a rebrand as the Duluth Nevers) Detroit Heralds Los Angeles Rams (1950) What if? NBC Sunday Night Football Lineup Buffalo All-Americans Providence Steam Rollers Akron Pros Helmet Chicago Cardinals Helmet Dayton Triangles Helmet Duluth Eskimos Helmet Duluth Nevers (Eskimos rebrand) Helmet Detroit Heralds Helmet Green Bay Packers Helmet Los Angeles Rams Helmet Milwaukee Badgers Helmet Racine Legion Helmet Toledo Maroons Helmet Buffalo All-Americans Helmet Does anyone want to see me do a Phase 2 of this series with helmets, or are there any other teams you'd like to see done? If so let me know!
  24. I think you ended up in a good spot for your Pittsburg redo. I'll admit the 70's style isn't my personal favorite in general and you've definitely hit that, but this is well executed and fits the franchise well.
