It's not about it being hard. No one is being lazy or overlooking it. It's an intentional choice and very popular right now. It sucks, but the vast majority of responses from fans on social media and from the players when it comes to "icy white" look are positive. People like the "clean" look.

I guarantee most people on social media wouldn't even notice the difference if there were a stripe on the pants. The "clean" look just means white pants & socks with a white jersey.

I thought the Bengals white tiger uniform looked so much better with the regular away uniform than the old Color Rush. It really makes me wonder if this is what was intended all along, & the NFL for some reason didn’t allow it. Or, the other possibility is that they just wanted to try it with the old Color Rush, and either simply didn’t like it or responded to fan feedback.

The NFL didn't let them wear the white helmet with their primary uniforms, so they had to bring back the colour rush as an alternate in order to use the alternate helmet.

I guess they made the case that the white jersey/black pants combo is their primary look, and the all-white is the alternate. Carolina used the same logic to be allowed to wear the black helmets with the all-black uniform.

Well, it would be nice to have a source on your claims and confidence that this kind of growth is sustainable.

Well a quick google search of "MLB attendance" &  "MLB tv ratings" would have given you plenty of sources confirming the growth, but here you go.

Lol no it doesn’t, because truth of the matter is there isn’t ANY city left that fits that category. This is a sport that’s been actively hemorrhaging fans for around the last four decades. We really don’t need any more MLB teams. Especially when the only “viable” (and I use that term loosely) locations left are places like Nashville and Portland.

Imma echo @FiddySicks on this point: MLB baseball has a serious issue to solve, and that's hemorrhaging fans. Some of that doesn't even have to do with the sport itself, but with the growth/advent of other sports options (Major League Soccer, anyone?) drawing away potential fans, not to mention just more entertainment options out there period even beyond sports.

This year MLB has seen its biggest jump in attendance since '98, and that season had the benefit of two expansion teams being added. More than two thirds of the clubs have seen an increase in attendance, and about half of them have had attendance boosts of at least 10%. The median age of ticket buyers has gone down as well, so there's been an influx of younger fans going to games. Regional broadcasts have also seen a rise in viewership, despite the fact that these networks have been steadily losing subscribers.

Obviously we need to see how long things keep trending in the right direction, but MLB has been pretty aggressive in trying to improve their product and fans have clearly taken notice.

I was surprised to see how negative the reaction to these has been on the mainstream channels. I’ve even seen a few comments claiming it’s the worst jersey of all time.

It’s not perfect, but it’s a solid fauxback. I think it’d be better if the silver outline around the logo was white instead.

From what I've been reading, he was only asking players if they wanted to show pictures of their families as a "get to know you" situation and that he was sharing his own pictures as well. I've also read that it was really only the younger players who were complaining and that the veterans, even the Captain, Jenner, were defending him.

Just saying what I've read. Which hasn't been a lot.🤷‍♂️

He was asking players to hand over their phones, and spent several minutes scrolling through them. Any other coach would probably get the benefit of the doubt, but Babcock has a history of playing psychological mind games on his players, and is pretty much universally disliked around the league.

Veteran players, especially guys with a letter stitched to their jersey, will always instinctively stand up for their coach/organization publicly. It's part of the "don't rock the boat" culture that gets ingrained into players throughout their careers.

The reason the Rangers are playing in a Costco Warehouse is because they want 40,000+ fans in attendance for all 81 games whether it's night or day.  They couldn't do that with their old ballpark (which is now a football/soccer stadium for MLS Next Pro North Texas SC, XFL Arlington Renegades and Major League Rugby's Dallas Jackals) because nobody wants to attend a Rangers game when the average temperature on a weekday afternoon in June, July and August is 102.  Even when the Rangers were winning, nobody was in attendance at day games.

The Rangers didn’t build a fixed roof dome though. They built a retractable roof, just like Houston, Arizona, and Miami.

While it may be a fixed roof, I believe they're going to have the Vikings type of ETFE roof, which is transparent, lightweight, and durable material.  There's also being thought that it will have some wall panels that can open up on the sides to allow some of the outside in, while still remaining covered.

I'm sure it will be an improvement, but I guess I'm just a traditionalist who thinks that baseball should be played outside as much as possible. I've also seen firsthand the difference it makes at Jays' games when the roof is open compared to when it's closed.

  9. Seravalli doesn't hold back here, and it's hard to disagree with anything he's saying. Kekalainen's tenure in Columbus has been a mixed bag at best, and he put his reputation on the line by vouching for Babcock when most of the hockey world was critical of them hiring him. I think he's benefitted from the fact that the Jackets organization was a complete joke before he took over, so the bar has always been low.

I understand not wanting to replace your front office this close to the season, but this feels like another lost year in central Ohio. Might as well rip the band-aid off now instead of waiting until you've been eliminated from the playoffs.

The Cowboys really need to decide if they're a royal blue or navy team. Having both would be fine, but they mix the navy on the helmet with the royal blue of the white jersey and it just looks bad

Don't see it happening as long as Jerry is around. He thinks the white jerseys are too iconic to change, but also says that navy apparel sells better.

Do you think some NBA Champions should change the "World Champions" text on their banners in favor of just "Champions" or "NBA Champions"?

I've long tolerated "NBA World Champions" because it's been that way for the longest time but I'm having doubts now.

Perhaps Noah Lyles has a point after all.

I guess we should change the name of the Miss Universe pageant. How dare we anoint someone Miss Universe when only Earthlings are competing.

Also I'm so, so glad that you mentioned Premier League, because EPL by many is considering as a best football league in the world, but no one recognize Man City as a 'World Champions" (at least until they win FIFA Club World Cup) but as a "English Champions".  Same is with NBA, no one except Americans and maybe Canadians recognize Denver Nuggets as a "World Champions" but as a "NBA Champions" because this what they are.

Association football is a completely different scenario. Is the EPL the top league in the world? Yes, but the gap between it and the next best league isn't that large. If you made a list of the top 100 footballers in the world they'd be spread across several leagues on multiple continents. If you made a list of the top 100 basketball players in the world you'd have 100 NBA players.

How long has it been a thing for NHL teams to add their own little decorative alt logos to the centrelines on the rink? I'm liking this new trend...

Based on https://www.thefaceoff.net/ice-nhl it looks like Tampa was the first team to do it back in 2002. By the mid-2010s it was a pretty common trend.

I really like the incorporation of simplified logo elements into the stripe (Edmonton's oil drop, Carolina's warning flag design, Winnipeg's jet silhouette), but can't stand teams that force their entire logo into the stripe (Anaheim, Detroit, Nashville, Calgary).
