  1. Garbage time stats are going to detract from the reality of this game. Dallas player stats are going to look good, score isn't a total blowout, but that doesn't even begin to tell what is a beautiful, beautiful, sweet story.
  2. This game makes the Ass Birds upcoming first-round exit sting a little less.
  3. I can't imagine either would want to work for Jerry Jones. Not sure why anyone would.
  4. I've seen the script. Ravens win the SB, John Harbaugh decides to retire with 2 rings, and is succeeded by his brother. You heard it here first
  5. At least I've been conditioned to expect the worst for 6-7 weeks. To have it happen at the snap of a finger must be rough - especially since this was the one year that I think their fans could have had legitimate expectations. I wish these networks could put mics in Jerry Jones' booth. Buttttt..... I still won't be comfortable until the clock says 0.00. Too many weird things can happen, and the refs might ref this up.
  6. Definitely. This half could easily be the exact reverse of the first. TF by that Packers DL grabbing Dak's mask. They had the stop. There was no need to at all. Also, he can obviously feel that he's in the facemask - why not immediately release and hope that it's missed? Totally gave Dallas one there.
  7. You'll never hear any negative commentary on ESPN, and those panel shows (and McAfee) will all go away in favor of people sitting there talking about what a good person everyone is. You won't hear a thing about any criminal activity, and a case like Watson's would likely be glossed right over.
  8. Obviously I'm not a lawyer, but helmets are tested and approved by both the league and NFLPA, so I assume they'd have to prove that the specific one he was wearing was defective, which would be nearly impossible to do. In fact, they could probably argue that it worked since he wasn't injured and it proves that it flexes or something.
  9. A real man would have simply put duct tape on it. But seriously, they should be allowed to switch helmets without penalty, otherwise you may have guys hiding seemingly-minor damage for fear of having to sit out or cost his team. That's obviously obvious damage that can't be hidden, but I could see rare situations where something's not right and the player knows and nobody else does. Waiting for Riddell's statement on the matter where they admit their plastic wasn't tested in stupidly-cold weather. Or more likely, don't admit it.
  10. Speaking of predictable posts, here's another one trashing the ass birds. Can teams really put "fat" clauses in rookie contracts? I thought those things were standardized these days. But it's come out that Jordan Davis, billed as one of those Georgia guys that just "know how to win" (yet none of them that they've drafted can actually hack it against grown-ass men), has been getting fined on a weekly basis for being overweight. And he's just like "OK, fine me, I'm not gonna stop eating Funyuns in the huddle." While a fat clause seems a little extreme to me, it is what it is and imagine having the opportunity of a lifetime to be an NFL player on one of the winningest franchise of this century and pissing it away.
  11. The Nordiques were pretty much a dumpster fire - dead last for 5 seasons prior to the Lindros draft, and (according to Eric) it was as much to do with not wanting to be associated with Marcel Aubut who had some sexual assault (or something similar) case against him. I was big into hockey back then, and remember the joke that the Nordiques had become. It worked out for them, as that was their "Herschel Walker" moment that propelled them to greatness (albeit in 5280). Also his earning potential would theoretically be significantly less playing for a team that couldn't afford to get him good sidekicks, and I'm sure the league itself didn't want it (plus his daddy told him so.) The Flyers just had something similar work against them, when some hot prospect (Cutter something?) forced his rights to be traded for pennies on the dollar. People are up in arms. I couldn't care less. Not just because I gave up on hockey a long time ago, but because what goes around. Apparently he was scared of Tortarella or something.
  12. Maybe find some other ways to occupy your time. Like a hobby. Maybe do a puzzle.
  13. The coaches you play for, the system you're in, the competence of the organization, hell - whether you'll even play or sit behind some dbag for 3 seasons - all play into how much you'll make in your second contract, which could be >$100M guaranteed, or... $0. He absolutely has a right to be concerned, as does anyone. It's just that not everyone has the leverage. Honestly, I'm not sure that he has leverage, because it's unlikely that he'd hold out an entire year. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that drafts will go away at some point. As we get to the point where players are already millionaires before the draft, they'll have even more leverage, and eventually the legality of the draft will be brought into question. I'm not sure that it's not legal, but the way these things go it'll eventually go away.
  14. But their opponent will have one or maybe two more. It's one thing in the regular season, but playoffs should be as equal as possible (teams with bye not withstanding.) Also, I never thought about it, but does the league only schedule 4-5 seed game on Monday night? A quick search seems to indicate yes, and someone on X (formerly known as Twitter) says it (while also going through the scheduling fallout from moving the game - apparently a 2-7 move causes the absolute most chaos). I suppose it makes sense since all the other matchups would be set and the team hosting the 4-5 winner would know.
  15. I think Communist_Whore is going to be my new forum name.
  16. Fortunately it's a holiday for many people, but probably it'll be more difficult for some fans and game-day staff to attend/work. Better than the alternative, but it could be a weird atmosphere for a playoff game. I also hate the very notion of Monday playoff games simply due to the competitive disadvantage it puts the winning team in, but that ship has sailed (and in a case like this, I don't know of an alternative.)
  17. Read this on UW or in a tweet, but the motion lines are on the wrong side, since Jerry West is going right to left.
  18. I'm shocked by how many people either don't know or don't associate 5,280' with being a mile.
  19. Those pieces of have never had to work outside for 9 hours in those elements while being either elderly or having some other reason why that's dangerous (like, for example, simply being human). Oh, and needed that job, so can't call out. They also want people to risk themselves to shovel just so they can sit their fat asses down and be entertained in their warm homes. It's as if the players are just machines that aren't subject to the same human needs that they are. Screw'em. EDIT: "Communist whore" has me cracking up for some reason. Maybe it's the irony, or maybe it's just a funny sounding phrase. If postponing the game gets us more of those phrases that are going in my back pocket, then it's an even better decision.
