CONCACAF considering rebrand

CONCACAF could change its name to create a new brand image and distance itself from a "toxic" past, the president of the body that governs soccer in North and Central America and the Caribbean said on Wednesday.
"We're going to go through an exhaustive process in terms of both brand, just the logo itself, and if you are going to look at the logo you might as well look at the name as well," Victor Montagliani told Reuters.
"Is it (the name) conducive to the brand, do we need to change so it's a little bit more slick?," the Canadian said at the Leaders sport business conference at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge ground.

I've always hated the name CONCACAF - it sounds terribly nasally when you say it out loud, and it has too many hard "c" sounds clashing up against one another - so a name change would be more than welcome on that front. And distancing themselves as far as possible from their corrupt image would be smart.

Why can't it just be:

- North America Football Association (NAFA)

- Football Association of North America (FANA)

They add in Central America and the Caribbean to the name but aren't those regions IN North America?

Excellent thought.  But realise that CONCACAF is a confederation, not a football association.  Football associations (FAs) are the national governing bodies, such as the USSF (often referred to as U.S. Soccer) and the Canadian Soccer Association.

So maybe something like Confederation of Football of North America, which doesn't make a pronounceable acronym.  And any new name will have to work in Spanish as well.
