Brick
The Florida Pit Bulls Co-Owner/GM/Head Coach/Point Guard is Tim Hardaway. Yes, that Tim Hardaway. I saw the Pit Bulls play at the Maryland Nighthawks two weekends ago. I can't speak for other ABA teams or the league as a whole, but I was pleasantly surprised at how competent the people running the Maryland Nighthawks operation were. From their website: After graduating from University of Texas at El Paso, Mr. Hardaway entered the NBA and played for the South Florida Heat, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Indiana Pacers and Denver Nuggets - and was named to the NBA All Star team five times. Because of his success with the South Florida Heat and his huge fan base in our market, Tim is sure to draw crowds. But more importantly, he brings unparalleled leadership, both on and off the court, and is committed to building a championship organization. South Florida Heat? Max Power
The ABA is hilarious. I could read ABA threads all day... and since they will have 142 expansion teams next season, I'm sure I'll have plenty of reading material.
jab8281965
Anyone think of the scene in "BASEketball" where Kenny Mayne is doing the "playoff bracket" and talks about the NorthCentralSoutheast Subquadregional whenever they talk about the "new" ABA??I have a couple of friends who play for the Pit Bulls, and they tell me that the travel isn't bad, the money stinks, but they're getting paid to play.Is it really that different from independent minor league baseball? Consider yourself lucky And Jab, it differs from indy minor league baseball in that you don't have an average of two teams go belly up a week in baseball. You do in the ABA.
