Brian in Boston
Just checked the website this morning, and they've got the five most submitted names up there: Pioneers, Mountaineers, Phantoms, Predators, and Power. Meh. I'm not a fan of any of them. As it is, I'd rank them as follows:1) Portland Predators2) Portland Pioneers 3) Portland Power 4) Portland Mountaineers5) Portland PhantomsIf it were me, I'd go with the Oregon Orcas, Portland Lumberjacks or Portland Timber Barons (yeah, I know that it is too close to the Portland Timbers). Sabrejeff
They better not choose "Power"! We all know how well it went in D.C....
DEAD!
They better not choose "Power"! We all know how well it went in D.C.... They had an awful logo, but a very good team playing in a bad arena. I saw, I came, I left.
winters in buffalo
Portland Thorns - playing on the City of Roses, but staying badass.
Frylock
Portland Thorns - playing on the City of Roses, but staying badass. Yup, I submitted that back in May, and I have a jersey concept in the works as well. Actually came up with a Thorns lacrosse concept a couple years ago!Interesting thing about that name, tho. If you go to Portland Thorns.com you get a redirect to Big League Chew.com. Why you may ask? Rob Nelson, the guy who co-created Big League Chew bubble gum with Jim Bouton, owns the domain name. Personally, I believe he is web-squatting in hopes that a potential MLB franchise in Portland takes that name and would, in theory, buy the domain name from him.
