Rams Niners

QB is the most important position on the field. Unless that QB is a Diaper Dandy like Big Ben in Pittsburgh, they ain't gonna win that much because almost everything depends on the QB. This is the same for the Bears, they were considered a defense-only team until Rex Grossman came in and burnt the drawers off of my guys, which led to the Bears now being the scariest team in the NFC behind the Seahawks, IMO. But yeah, it can be the position that skyrockets you into the upper echelon, but it can also be the position that kills you.

Oh yeah, I learned when we got Vick to never ever EVER root for your team to lose so you can get the #1 pick. San Diego did that, and ended up trading Vick away for Tim Dwight. And year before last, San Diego lost out on Eli Manning, though they didn't get burnt as badly as they did when they lost Vick.

Wait wait wait. What? They traded #1 for #5 (i think) and Dwight. Do you realize who they drafted in that spot? A guy that we all lovingly refer to as LT. Plus, lets say they had drafted Vick. They would have missed out on drafting LT AND Drew Brees. That trade was golden for both the Falcons and the Chargers.

Wow, nvm that last comment. Didn't know that was when LT came as well. That renders the whole convo moot now doesn't it :P

Accually, me and my pops were talking about this the other day. We both feel that the entire face of the NFL could have been different if it wasnt for this trade, which i think in a few years, this whole Reggie Bush thing will probably be looked at the same way.

Y'know..look at it like this.

The Niners are down to the Texans 14-13 with 10 seconds to go. The Niners kicker lines up to make the winning FG from 45 yards..which is in the might make it/might miss it range.

If they lose, they get #1.

If they win, they can draft a tackle or something.

There is NO WAY you can tell me the Niners coach isn't thinking, "Hmmm..can running backs wear #5 in the NFL?"

I'd like the Niners to go from 2 wins to 4. But I'd like Reg, too. He counts for more than a meaningless win over another awful team.

I really don't see Reggie Bush as the definitive answer at running back, yes he's explosive but you would have to put him with somebody else because he doesn't seem to be an every down back sort of back. He only averaged about 15 or 16 runs from scrimmage a game this year. Plus, when you have Matt Leinart at QB, opposing offenses can't focus on the run as much as they could in the NFL. Assuming no trades take place, whatever team gets him isn't going to have a Matt Leinart type QB nor a dominant passing game, so a defense can focus on shutting down the run. Reggie Bush may be a great player, but take everything in context before saying taking him is a clear decision for whatever team gets him. I think he's worth more in a trade than he is on the field for the teams that are going to have a chance to get him.

I remember at the end of the 1983-84 NHL season, New Jersey, heading into the last game of the season, was in last place. So in order to get the no 1. draft pick, they had to lose their last game, so they start this crap rookie goalie who stands on his head and they win the game. New Jersey ended up drafting Kirk Muller 2nd. While the Pittsburg Penguins drafted Mario Lemieux number 1.

The loser fo the 49ers Texans game will have something different in mind, depending on who wins.

If the 49ers get the first pick, they take Bush. If the Texans get it, they trade down, take D'Brickashaw from Virginia, and get another second round pick.

That would then allow Green Bay or the Jets to take Bush. Both better places for the youngin to learn.
