Likely NBA draft lottery pick Adam Morrison will forgo his senior season at Gonzaga and sign with an agent. Morrison has until April 29 to officially declare for the draft.

A source close to Morrison told ESPN.com Monday that agent Mark Bartelstein will represent the player. Spokane television stations KREM and KXLY both reported Monday night that Morrison had decided to turn pro. Both cited unnamed sources.

The Spokesman-Review newspaper cited "multiple sources close to the Bulldogs' 6-foot-8 junior forward" in reporting Tuesday that Morrison had made his decision Sunday evening.

Morrison is expected to announce his intentions at a news conference Wednesday afternoon. The deadline to declare for the draft is April 29.

His mother would not say if Morrison was turning pro.

"No comment," Wanda Morrison told The Associated Press, adding that any announcement would be handled through Gonzaga University's sports information office.

Gonzaga coach Mark Few did not return several telephone messages left by the AP. Gonzaga sports information director Oliver Pierce said he did not know Morrison's future plans.

But speculation has been rampant since Gonzaga lost to UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen that Morrison had played his final game for the Zags.

Morrison and his family hinted as much in a recent interview in Sports Illustrated. A diabetic, Morrison told the magazine he felt he needed to move quickly because of uncertainty over his future health.

"Time is of the essence," Morrison told the magazine. "I'm going to deteriorate a little faster than anyone else."

Morrison constantly monitors his blood sugar during games and sometimes gives himself insulin injections while on the bench.

His father, John, told the magazine that diabetes could cripple his son's hands or feet at any time.

Morrison, who averaged 28.1 points per game last season, is expected to be a first-round choice in the June 28 NBA draft.

Morrison, the West Coast Conference player of the year, edged Duke's J.J. Redick for this year's national scoring title. He finished second to Redick for the Naismith and John R. Wooden Awards for college basketball's player of the year.

In three seasons at Gonzaga, Morrison scored 1,867 points to rank third on the Bulldogs' all-time scoring list, behind Frank Burgess (2,196) and Jim McPhee (2,015).

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

All I have to say to this is THANK GOD! Now with Morrison, Knight, and Batista out of the picture, the WCC is back up for grabs. Hopefully Rodney will bring the Lions back to the promised land this year.

I'm sorry, but I still see Gonzaga dominating the WCC as long as Mark Few is coaching there. As long as Few's been the head coach, the Bulldogs have been able to reload year in and year out and contend in the national spotlight.
