OFFICIAL DRAFT DAY THREAD

The draft is now underway at 9am PT, Noon/ET. Mel's hair is in place.

And I have to say the opening sequence of ESPN's coverage, with a faux gangsta/matrix fashion show of the top picks, is the stupidest thing I have ever seen ESPN do. Let the picking begin. Texans on the clock with Mario. Suzy K interviewing Mario and he's about three feet taller than she is.

OK, Mario Williams was just taken. Jets are reportedly talking with the Saints to swap picks so they can nab Reggie Bush. Hehehe, go Saints, way to screw up your franchise (again)!

[Croatia National Team Manager Slavan] Bilic then went on to explain how Croatia's success can partially be put down to his progressive man-management techniques. "Sometimes I lie in the bed with my players. I go to the room of Vedran Corluka and Luka Modric when I see they have a problem and I lie in bed with them and we talk for 10 minutes." Maybe Capello could try getting through to his players this way too? Although how far he'd get with Joe Cole jumping up and down on the mattress and Rooney demanding to be read his favourite page from The Very Hungry Caterpillar is open to question. --The Guardian's Fiver, 08 September 2008

I thought the Saints already had a good RB...

Oh, and though everyone connected with Houston says the off-field stuff with Reggie Bush didn't impact their decision-making, you have to think that it certainly did. I wouldn't be surprised if this affects Bush the way off-field pre-draft allegations affected Randy Moss's draft status a few years ago.

I don't think Reggie Bush's problem affected the Texans at all. He's not a Randy Moss.

And brinke, the fashion show thing was kinda lame, but for some reason, Leinart's part was by far and away the best. He just looked like a badass.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Well, Reggie Bush is a Saint. Man, I may have to rethink my hatred for the Saints. :P

You're correct.

Matt Leinart on Broadway up next?

I don't want to hear Deuce McCallister griping about having to share carries. When NO drafted him, they already had Ricky. Two back systems work, especially when one is coming off a major knee injury.

Reggie in black and old gold will be a beautiful thing.

My guess for the Titans is Vince Young.

You are correct, sir.

I don't get this pick. Why pass on Leinart when you've got his former offensive coordinator (Norm Chow) on the staff?

Leinart is now a #5 pick - because I don't see the Jets taking him.
