Ducks look in action

So tonight I went to see the Ducks play the Sharks here in Anaheim, and while there I noticed a few things that I thought youd be interested in hearing

First off, the new look really does look a whole lot better in action than I would have ever thought it would. Not as much like the Penguins as would be expected. But one thing that kind of confused me though. When I looked at the jerseys up close in the team store they were only selling replicas, and were still using the CCM tagline. Now I can see last years replicas being CCM, but these were brand new jerseys made by the old supplier. Anyone know the deal with that? Oh, and on top of that, they didnt have any NHL logos anywhere on the jersey. Not even the old logos.

The Pond is still called the Pond, the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim. Anyone know what the deal is with when the Honda name will go into affect? Is that a case of Arrowhead trying to hold on to the name till the end of the fiscal year, or is that just a case of Honda lagging? It was really strange seeing half the building with the new Honda logo stuff and half the building in the old arrowhead look (and half in the old colors and logos, and half in the new stuff).

And finally, along with being bummed seeing my Sharks get hammered, I was also more and more bummed as the night went along that the ducks completely ditched their old look. Now Im not a huge fan of changing a package by only updating the look, Id rather see a team start from scratch, but as the night went along I kept noticing how strong the old Duck Mask logo was. I wish they would incorperate it as at least the shoulder patch, which is something the Ducks desperately need on the new jerseys.

i can't think of a color scheme that i hate more than purple and teal... but i'm sad to see the ducks lose it, too...

it was very very very much their identity to me.

the new look just doesn't seem like the ducks to me. almost feels like an expansion team.

RBK, CCM, KOHO, and JOFA are all the same company. RBK bought out The Hokcey Company (which was the other 3 brands) about 2-3 years ago. The reason for CCM on the replicas is probably because RBK wants to use that brand and keep it around for apparell along with equipment. So it's not really the old supplier tag on the uniform. It's the same supplier they are just using 2 different names.

Southern California’s premier entertainment and sports venue, Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, will become Honda Center in October.

Details of the arrangement will be made available at a news conference in October. A 10-year, naming-rights contract with Greenwich, Conn.-based Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water Company is set to expire Sept. 30.

I saw, I came, I left.

I hear that and I feel the same way. How can a team, really, have an identity as "The Ducks" when the ONLY thing that represents a duck on the entire jersey is the letter "D" that, kinda/sorta, looks like a webbed foot? Other than that, it just says "Ducks." Oooh boy. Too me that's like the equivalent of George Lucas going back into star wars, editing out all the lightsabers and just having a length of word that says "Lightsaber." Ok... so it says what it is, but it's not really represented. That's what I hate most about the Ducks new look. I personally liked the old colors because they were unique, but I'd have no problem with a complete change if they actually incorporated something that actually made you think of ducks.

You'll always get that with new arena names and logo changes unless the arena is brand new.

It still says "Marine Midland Arena" on the floor in front of the ATMs at HSBC Arena. But that will be gone soon as they're refinishing the floor's gloss coating.
