Slater
From MSN Sports:"Oakland needs to score 35 points in the season finale against the Jets to avoid becoming the 11th team to score fewer than 200 points in a 16-game season."Anyone have any idea who some of those other teams were? sc49erfan15
Some of those eary Tampa Bay teams have to be one.No doubt, those early Bucs teams were atrocious, but the league didn't play a 16-game schedule until 1978.Just because I'm bored at 2:15 AM...The 0-14 1976 Bucs scored 125 points in 14 games, averaging just under 8.93 points per game. They were shutout in 5 games. If they would have kept that average, they would have scored about 143 points. However, the 1977 Bucs managed to do worse, scoring 103 points in 14 games, for 7.35 points per game. They were shutout 6 times...almost half their season. Multiplied by 16, that's only 117 points...easily worst on the list. In fact, their 103 points in 14 games is worse than the 0-8-1 Baltimore Colts in the nine-game strike-shortened year in 1982, who scored 113.Wonder if there's a book about the early Bucs...might be a good read. Off to Amazon to cure more late-night boredom...
