Why not do a logo of the month club or something where a concept is made into a factual item. Think Fitted New Era Cap or Hockey jerseys- being two very popular items of discussions. Not that Cafe Press crapObviously this will need to take some coordination, but maybe we post a few concepts,vote on a logo, then open a preorder period, correct $ via Paypal or something, then order the item.I dunno... I been figuring for a while now that something like this would be feasible for an individual designer with a half decent stable of original work and a nose for a good deal.I know one thing, you don't know how hard it is to make a decent jersey (and the material is, no pun intended, immaterial) til you try to make one yourself. I got two complete ones on me, a modified version of the Fremantle Dockers' original away jumper and a Vero Beach Dodgers alternate in all its dayglo yellow glory, but I aint satisfied with either...the former looks homemade and the latter wound up too small. Hence, I been tryin to step my game up since finishing the latter. Shoot, if you know where to look, I figure it wouldn't even run ya $100 to kick things off. slapshot Posted March 16, 2007 Share Posted March 16, 2007 Not that there aren't some better concepts here that blow away the actual work, but if anyone did this for profit I would almost guarantee there would be a cease & desist order. Unless it's for fantasy leagues, team names are copyrighted and trademarked along with logos and other identity. I couldn't go out and legally sell shirts that read "Boston Red Sox" or even just "Red Sox" without permission from the team.The only way around it that I can see is to make sure the concept bears no resemblance at all to the copyrighted material. The new artwork would at best have to have an extremely vague reference to the actual original source, otherwise you have violated the law.
