Why fire him now?

Unless its "Effective at the end of the season".

But would firing him change anything, especially in that division?

They might finish ahead of Kansas City, but that's it. Minnesota, Detroit, and Cleveland are too far ahead/better teams this year.

My off the wall prediction: The Cincinnati Reds will enter the NL central race soon. As of right now they are only 6.5 back despite being 60-70. This division could spit out a winner with a sub 500 record.

I thought the prediction was "the follow-up will be one of the best-selling albums in history."

Ozzie is popular and cheap. He's not getting fired. The White Sox didn't quit on Ozzie. They're just really bad at baseball.

Guillen's safe. The season was lost long before this last week, and they're giving some young guys a look right now, so the season has taken on a different purpose. Ozzie's a pseudo-cult figure on the Southside. He'll be back. I don't know if he could survive another year like this one, but he's safe as long as the Sox reasonably contend next year.
