buzzcut
Disney's Wide World of Sports to be ESPNizedWill they ever stop? The CCSLC's resident Geelong Cats fan. Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. Sounds like something from a Rocky & Bullwinkle story arc.
Sport
I don't see the big deal. It's not like they renamed the Magic Kingdom, "The ESPN Magic Kingdom of Booyah and En Fuego". It's a sports park, I've been there. There are no rides or attractions other than the Braves spring training stadium, it's about sports and ESPN, a brand owned by Disney is about sports. Makes sense to me.
Geoff
I agree. It's not like ESPN took over the Park. Disney owns ESPN so they have the right to change it. It was a Disney decision not an ESPN decision. Athletic Director: KTU Blue Grassers Football
TFoA
I thought it was mostly ESPN stuff there anyway. No big deal.
no97
Seeing as "ABC's Wide World of Sports" has become "ESPN on ABC," why would Disney keep the WWOS name around anymore on the theme park? As an aside, I don't understand the universal hatred of everything ESPN. No, it's not the quailty it used to be, and SportsCenter isn't must-see anymore, but they still have most of the big games on that most of us want to see. Plus, they usually don't black-out everthing else that's on if they're televising a game (truse me, I'm more pissed about the Fox Game of the Week MLB deal, and how much controll they have over what's on than ESPN and their deal).Moose
Island_Style
ESPN is owned by ABC which is owned by Disney. The couldn't get any more fitting.
