Atomic
Truthfully, I was pissed about it when I saw it a few months ago. All that work and effort I put into my design only to have some 13-year-old jack it without asking me. Just left me with a sour feeling. Then I saw the other logos being jacked (professional and non) and just realized that there's nothing I can do to stop a junior-higher from taking something that isn't his and posting as his own. I can't pull a Jay and Silent Bob, because what would that say about me as an individual? I dealt with it and moved on. ...as for "stop making sweet logos". Really? The concepts I've seen on this board are what re-inspired myself to start designing again. The input from others and learning from other's mistakes have allowed myself to grow as an amateur. Without those "sweet logos", I'd have no bar to set my standards to, which would lead to lackluster ideas from myself. As for being flattered? I'd be more so had the individual in question asked me. For the record, I would have said 'yes'. I'm sorry, maybe that's just me showing my age around here, but jacking out of "respect" is still stealing IMO. "Sweet Logos" are/were the bread and butter of this place and it's actions like that which stopped all the great designers of the past from posting their designs in this forum so up and comers can learn and better themselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to sound bitter about this (even though I feel as though that may be what I am projecting). I just feel as though this whole situation could have been avoided had the individual just asked. (..and before anyone jumps on my case, yes - I am aware that putting logos/work/etc on a message board enable anyone to take it without asking, I'm addressing the principle of the issue). FiddySicks
Are you guys really angry about people using logos you created for Teambuilder? I mean, if that was my work, I'd be flattered. I love it when people use my covers for avatars or something and I come across it randomly. If you guys don't want your logos "ripped", stop making sweet logos.Honestly I use a lot of logos for Teambuilder that were logos made here. In fact I went through a lot of the fantasy forums to find cool logos for that specific purpose. I use them not because I want to rip anyone off, but because I get bored and TeambuiIder is a good time waster. That and I like the particular logos and want to see what they'd look like incorporated into a set. You can only make so many changes to existing logos. I kind of use the philosophy that a lot have here. It's better to use something original than recolor stuff that's already out there, even if it is only in my NCAA world I honestly figured that because it's being used for something that's simply a play thing, it wasn't a big deal. For the most part, I never even thought about it being logo jacking. But really, if any of you come across any that I've done (and believe me, I've done a TON) and it happens to be your logo and you don't like that, shoot me a PM and I'll either put it on private (so that nobody else can see or use it) or remove the logo. Vicious
i think it is a lot like musicians. when they are first starting out, and people rip their music from online, they are like "hell yeah, more people are listening to me.", but after they make it big, and actually start getting paid for their music, they are like "hey you PIRATES!" its a vicious circle. Buster
I understand what you're saying. But if you don't want it stolen, use a watermark or something, which most people doCorrect. The internet is a PUBLIC place. Unless you take steps to prevent it legally, anything you put online is up for grabs for anyone to use. Whether ethical or not, that's reality.
