BASEBALL ALL-TIME DRAFT: Discussion Thread (PLEASE LOCK)

I think one of the things people are forgetting is that people have jobs where they can't always make it to the computer every 5 minutes. Also remember that when you guys start picking at 9 am, that is 6 am for someone on the west coast and if they work late the night before, don't get your panties in a wad if they get to bed at 3 am and get up at 11 am. I think 5 hours is plenty of time. Just learn to relax and have fun with this.

I would have no issue with making adjustments for people that work. If somebody says they can't pick at this hour fine. I don't get mad over that, to me that's at least showing accountability and you can work with that. I get mad when people have things they know about that will take time and they don't bother to say anything until after the fact, and that's what's caused the majority of the delays. It also makes the people who have the picks immediately after show up when they don't need to be there, which is why I always say when I'm signing out for the night when I'm three picks or less away.

I'm still for the draft day, but 12 owners aren't going to be here then no its not a good idea and that's only three people backing out which isn't alot.

Oh you're back....make your picks. It puts Scotty on the clock again, for 2 picks.

What do you all think of my picks?

Two players I was geared up to take.

( :P )

There's still plenty of great pitching left, however. 3 of the 5 aforementioned pitchers are still there (Perry and Carlton off that board).

What do you all think of my picks?

Brown I think is someone who if they played today I'd imagine would probably be a relif pitcher and was someone who did pitch alot in relif, which is why I think that ERA is a bit lower then it would be had he just been a starter. Great pitcher when he's on, but not a huge workhorse. Top ten in innings pitched just three times.

A tough guy hit, with some control problems from what I can. I'd say one of those custom built guys for his era because you had alot of contact hitters. I think he would have alot of problems adjusting to pitching in any other era. Not saying he wouldn't do well, but I'm no convinced he would be in a Hall of Fame.

Mariano certainly the best relif pitcher of this era. I'd dispute he's the best of all-time, but nontheless certainly a future Hall of Famer and certainly a guy that will be a great closer for anyone to have. That being said I'm not sure if its wise to be picking someone who would only be pitching one inning a game (even if it is the ninth) in the fifth round.
