What if I told you in 2012 that Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado would be teammates?

In all honesty, I like that Roman has proved himself but I despise Pastor. He's such an average driver plus its no secret how much I can't stand pay drivers...

Glad Korea is gone, what a horrid GP. I kind of liked India, the track wasn't so bad.

Maldonado to Lotus is disappointing but I'm glad Hulk isn't there. Doubt Lotus has a repeat of this season with no money on the table. Can't wait for the new season to begin, hopefully I can make it out to Montreal this year.

There was a YT video of Ferrari testing the V6 turbo in a LaFerrari at Monza I believe....let me see if I can find it.

Last but not least, the V8 season is over in Australia & Whincup is the series champion, although an interesting tidbit is that the Captain might be rumored to field a V8 team.

So from next season onwards, the final race of the season will be worth double points in F1. Seems a desperate move in my eyes and will look all the more silly when Seb still clinches the title with several races to go.

Also, drivers will be able to choose their car numbers too - similar to how it was pre-1996. #1 will be reserved for the world champion who has the option to keep his regular number or go for the #1. Choice of numbers will be undertaken in order of final standings from the previous season. The current system is that the cars are numbered in order of the constructors championship - except for #1 and #2 going to the team of the driver's world champion.

I for one am happy to see the number rule. Especially with the same rule as IndyCar, if you win the championship, you can have the choice of being #1. Its a better way to identify the driver. Most people remember Gilles Villeneuve #27 or Nigel Mansell's #5. Those stick out, I for one agree with this & welcome this decision...

Also, no one is surprised that a certain champion hates the double points for the finale...

I would happily walk into a betting shop tomorrow and put a week's wages on it not even being in force for the upcoming 2014 season.

The FIA has invited prospective new Formula 1 teams to express their interest in joining the category from 2015-'16 until the end of the 2020 season. This is effectively a repeat of the entry process that led to three new teams joining the grid in 2010 after a total of 15 applied.

As the deadline for expressions of interest is only three weeks away, it suggests that there are some specific candidates in mind.

*crosses fingers from the VW camp* but hey, I'll take BMW or Toyota in there... Or even a old one back cough cough *ford* cough cough....

IndyCar announced Thursday that Chevrolet and Honda will provide distinct aerodynamic configurations for the Dallara DW12 chassis, beginning in 2015.

As part of its long-range focus on innovation, IndyCar announced in June that aerodynamic bodywork "kits" would be introduced and utilized for all 2015 races and include separate specifications for superspeedways and road/street/short ovals.

"Aero kits will improve the diversity of the fan experience and renew technical engagement, while providing a controlled cost structure," said Derrick Walker, president of competition and operations for IndyCar.

IndyCar says its program is intended to be relevant to short- and long-term design and development objectives of the global automotive industry and aligns with research and development in multiple technology sectors. Additionally, an entrant's aero kits will be aligned with its manufacturer, with the car incorporating the name given by the supplier.

Beginning with 2016, additional engine manufacturers and/or third party vendors will be eligible to be an IndyCar-approved supplier. Correspondingly, Chevrolet and Honda will be able to upgrade their aero kits, which will be approved through homologation.

Unexpected news from the Le Mans world today: Allan McNish, former Toyota F1 driver and three time winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has retired. Didn't see that one coming.

McNish is a star pilot on the works Audi LMP1 team and there weren't really that many rumblings about him hanging up his overalls, so it is kind of a surprise.

Ladies & Gentleman.... The most coveted seat in WEC is now up for grabs....

So what happened to the much-vaunted Russian rescue deal, where the Russian teen Sergey Sirotkin was set to be in the Swiss-made cockpit?

According to the well-connected correspondent for the Swiss newspaper Blick, Roger Benoit, Sauber is now looking into working with a new group of investors.

Reportedly, the unnamed group visited Sauber’s Hinwil factory last week.

“They want to take over the team and install new management,” said Benoit.
