Davidson
yo,im about to cut my new reel and im looking for a bit of a new identity.its been 3 years with the old one now, and im looking for a bit of a new look.in the image below i have posted all my old logos from university through tothe one i presently use. the vast majority have been the monogramed initialsof my name, 'FD'. the only exception being the one from the period in which ibecame particularly enamored with ambigrams.other than that, i tend to go for very simple marks which can be used in a numberof treatments and styles. having started from scratch i have just tried a fewdifferent looks, but im particularly interested in bold, simple shapes.i have fiddled around with a few progressions and i currently have a couple offavorites but i thought i would see what the board thought about them and perhapssee if anyone has any comments or perhaps even some better ideas.tafraser
chuckymack
I'm a huge, huge fan of the logo in the center of the bottom row. I think it's a fantastic abstraction of the letters F and D, and I love how you've styled them to contain themselves in their own implied square. It's simple, effective and brilliant. Sigs are for sissies.
joshhockey
I have to agree with chucky. It is a very nice logo. But, my favourite is actually the 4th one you used. Also, is there any meaning behind the shape of a heart?
Davidson
cheers guys. i was leaning in favour of the square shaped logo.i reckon it has the most mileage, and everyone i have asked so far hasgot it straight away which was my only real qualm.here are some treatment ideas i have come up with.and some more colourways for the distressed logo. rentz
Yeah that looks tremendous--and it certainly gives you a lot of flexibility for colors, textures, etc. more than the current one.
chestnutz
I honestly think your one now is the best. It's one of my favorite personal logos for someone I've seen. It took me a while to see the FD, but it's just so damn sexy, I'm extremely jealous of it.My second favorite is the fifth one in this picture, the colors really make it pop. erikas | go birds | dribbble

Davidson
"Old Logo" 4th from the leftor"Preferred" first on the leftare my personal favorites.i know what you mean, i liek that logo too, i just find it a wee bit fiddly. i wanted something a bitmore chunky really. you tend to lose the definition when either of those logos are very small. sbutler66
I love the square logo that you've created and chosen. so simple and effective, and like you said it has the most mileage in terms of applications and treatments. The distressed touch is great. Right enough, your head'll get too big.

The distressed touch is great. Right enough, your head'll get too big.I agree. I also love the "worn & faded" look you've given to it. How long do you think you'll keep this one? HarperK
i really like the square logo...but if u tilt it 45 degrees, the adidas logo is right there staring at me. ʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ
Shachihoko
Aw, I really the "solid heart" idea! But, I suppose you are a guy and a bit little feminism for your taste..?
Davidson
Aw, I really the "solid heart" idea! But, I suppose you are a guy and a bit little feminism for your taste..?i like the heart too. its just a little forced i think.im always keen to look friendly in terms of logo design. i think a distinctive mark is particularly important ifyou are selling design and any little sort of hook like that will make you stick in peoples minds so its certainly notthe idea of it that im against.
