  1. Gilbert finally wised up and dropped "Lake Erie" as the Monsters' name. Might be wise for the WhiteBung CapHammers to follow suit.
  2. The cute little minor league trend of ditching their identity to play as food for a game needs to stop. Either fully rebrand or stick to wacky movie-themed alternate jerseys. The Fresno team is the Grizzlies, not the Tacos. Stop kidding yourselves.
  3. We purposely removed the different reactions since we didn’t want to have bruised egos running amok. I’m assuming the most recent board update is still treating likes as one of several reaction options.
  4. After reviewing his application, willmorris has been reinstated as a member of the CCSLC effective immediately.
  5. If your account has been closed due to a violation (“banned”), you can appeal the penalty (provided you meet the criteria listed below) by clicking on the appeal link. Before you submit an appeal, please review the following: Appeals of a CCSLC account banning are eligible for accounts banned at least two years ago. Appeals of a CCSLC account banning are not eligible for accounts banned due to circumventing other CCSLC bans/suspensions or for accounts flagged as spam accounts. Accordingly, appeals are also not eligible for the original banned account. The account holder is responsible for the account's behavior. We apply penalties no matter who was on the account at the time. Extenuating individual circumstances will not lead to the removal of a penalty. Appeals are only done with the account that has been banned. No 3rd party appeals will be honored. Only ONE (1) appeal per user. If you already appealed, and the appeal was denied, you cannot appeal again. We allow only for 1 appeal. Successful appeals require the votes of at least six CCSLC moderators. Should an appeal be successful your account will be placed in a six month probationary period. Any intervention by CCSLC moderators during this probationary period will result in your account being banned without the option of any additional appeals. Re-appeals are only granted under very narrow, limited circumstances: New evidence not produced in your original appeal. Unfair or mishandled appeal (outside policy). Note: A different appeal admin will review your original appeal and decide if there is enough to grant you a new appeal. Other extenuating circumstance at admin's discretion. If, after reading and understanding these narrow circumstances, you feel one of them applies to your case, you may click on the link to fill out the form and plead your case. Failure to acknowledge this will result in your one and only chance at an appeal review being rejected. LINK Tips for a successful appeal: 1. Be honest. Lying to an appeal admin will end up in the appeal being Instantly denied. Let’s define lying: Factual lying. Intentionally omitting information (leaving out details we would be interested in, or even directly asked for) Implying something else then the truth. Faking any form of evidence. Guessing about it. If you don't remember, SAY SO, better that then some that doesn't match what we found. This is often misunderstood. When we ask questions, we usually know the answers already. When answers mismatch with what we know, we investigate further and establish if you were lying or telling the truth. Don't dig yourself a hole you can’t come out of. Just tell the truth; it’s easier for both you and us. When we find out about just one lie, the appeal is already denied. 2. Be straightforward. If the admin thinks you are hiding something, it will have a negative impact on your appeal. When questions are asked, answer them to the fullest of your knowledge. Even if you think it’s not relevant. Admins do not have the time to try to dig out every snippet of some information they want. Explain it to the closest detail you know and tell everything. Do not assume anything, TELL it. 3. Threats, abusive etc. Keep the discussion civil. Admins will terminate any communication, and immediately deny the appeal. 4. Keep an eye out for emails/contact regarding your appeal Once an appeal admin responds, admins will expect a response from you within a reasonable time. This is often set to 14 days (2 weeks). Due the volume of appeals, reports and general moderation duties we have, it’s just not possible to go and fetch every appealer personally. It is your job to keep an eye on the appeal.
  6. Google started pulling ads due to sexual content.
  7. FYI - the Wrestling Crush thread was removed. It was heading in the direction of the Babe of the Week thread.
  8. They're following the "bolt the South to resurrect a beloved Canadian franchise" model. Vive les Nordiques!
  9. The official guidelines of the CCSLC will be enforced in the Concepts Forum. LINK. This is a graphic design forum. All concept threads must be focused on graphic design. Sports fan fiction, simulation league and other story-based concepts are not permitted. Only provide enough background information to make any artistic choices make sense. Artwork must be the focus of both the post and any feedback. If a thread is unbalanced toward stories or simulations, with little effort put into design, it will be locked. This determination will be made at the moderators’ discretion. Constructive criticism must be used when commenting on concepts, be it positive or negative. Any replies to concepts that simply state something to the effect of "OMG, this sux!" or "AWESOME!!!11!" that the moderator team encounters will be removed. Creators of concepts must demonstrate a willingness to improve their graphic design skills. If there is no willingness by the concept creator to improve his/her skills the concept thread will be locked. If a concept creator is not receptive or combative towards constructive criticism, the concept thread will be locked and the creator may be subject to CCSLC discipline. Concept thread titles must be specific. Do not post vague, whimsical titles that have nothing to do with the concept itself Mention the name of the team, if the team is real or fictitious, and the sport. Indicate if the concept was created in an atypical medium, e.g. Paint or by hand. Ensure that a concept is ready for public critique before posting. Concepts that look like little or no effort was put into them will be removed. Ensure that a concept is created on an appropriate template. Ensure that any fonts used for a concept are appropriate, athletic fonts and are not Windows/Mac system fonts e.g. Arial, Times New Roman, etc. All concept threads must have the concept, or the initial concept of a series, present in the first post. Any concept thread that does not contain a viewable concept will be deleted. Do not post a "teaser image" in the first post of a concept thread. Concept threads may only be bumped by original posters who are posting revisions or adding new concepts to a series. OPs may not bump inactive threads in an effort to obtain more comments. Commentors may not bump inactive threads to ask questions about the status of the concept/series (eg. "Is this dead?") Commentors may not bump inactive threads in an attempt to get the OP to post more artwork. Do not post any requests for particular teams in someone's concept series thread or post requests for additional concepts in the thread of an individual concept. Do not post your own artwork in another concept creator's thread. If you have artwork to share, start your own thread. All concept competitions must be sanctioned by the CCSLC moderator team. No concept thread may utilize the message board's poll feature. All posts linking to a template must be directly linked to that template and not a third-party website. No concept may contain any element that can be considered offensive. Ensure that any logo used in a concept that you do not own adheres to the below guidelines: Members may use existing team logos for concepts about, or linked to, those existing teams. Ex: I'm designing a uniform concept for the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is permissible to use Dodgers logos in my design. Ex: I am doing a crossover series, where I want to make a Los Angeles Dodgers soccer jersey. It is permissible to use Dodgers logos in my design. Ex: I am doing a soccer series, where I am creating an expansion team owned by the Los Angeles Dodgers. It is permissible to use Dodgers logos in my design (see real-life San Antonio FC). Ex: I am proposing the Los Angeles Dodgers move to Albuquerque to become the Albuquerque Dodgers. It is permissible to use Dodgers logos in my design, as there is reason for my concept to be linked to the real-life Dodgers. Ex: I am proposing the Los Angeles Dodgers change their name to the Los Angeles Wildcats. It is permissible to use Dodgers logos in my design; however, a citation must be included for logos of existing teams being repurposed. In all other cases, members must have usage rights to any and all artwork used in their concept. Simply giving credit is not sufficient. Ex: I created a wildcat logo from scratch. It is permissible to use this in my design, as it is my own work and I own the usage rights. Ex: I created a soccer logo that includes the lion from the city of Hanover's coat of arms. It is permissible to use the lion in my design, as German coats of arms are in the public domain. Ex: I created a jersey that uses another designer's logo which is not or has not be used by any existing team. That designer has not given me explicit permission to use their logo, but I have credited them in my post. It is not permissible to use the logo in my design, as I do not have usage rights to the logo. Ex: I found a wildcat logo on Shutterstock that is free-use. It is permissable to incorporate part of that logo into your design with proper credit given. It is not permissable to present the logo with limited to no alteration as the basis for your concept.
  10. As a visual aid, I put together a color coded by conference map of NCAA D-I. LINK It's current for the 2018-19 season but with future D-I UC San Diego already thrown on there. You can see that the WCC is kind of built in clusters. 3 SoCal teams, 4 greater Bay Area teams, 2 northwest teams, and the outlier out in Provo. The Big West has 5 schools in the Greater LA area with two more in Central CA (soon to be 3) and another soon to be in SD. The two real outliers are Davis and Hawaii.
  11. It was last posted to in September 2016. That’s within two years.
  12. Threads older than 2 years are automatically locked.
  13. Not a chance. The WCC and Big West are different animals. One has private, predominately Catholic schools while the other is entirely state schools. Plus the Big West is already adding CSU Bakersfield and UC San Diego in the next two to three years.
  14. The minimum posts to start a new topic setting was changed around in the most recent board upgrade to make it a forum-by-forum permission setting. That's been fixed. New members will be listed as "previewing" and can't start a new topic until they have more than three posts. In terms of the requests, we're going to initiate a policy change where we'll lock the thread and inform the poster that they don't meet the post requirement (that's fully spelled out in the FAQ thread).
  15. Pepperdine is far more evangelical than anyone minus BYU.
  16. So, my WCC might be in for a shakeup. Gonzaga within the next couple weeks may be opting to bolt for the Mountain West. BYU may as well. Link
  17. Well, we were working on that but... the board software decided to job out and lose everything. I sent Chris a list of all the missing links so HOPEFULLY we can recover everything.
  18. Does this mean that Shane McMahon was president of True North?
  19. You know... there is one possibility here that wouldn't infringe on Gary's Sun Belt obsession and Canadian export phobia. Vive les Flammes du Québec!
