  1. "The hockey team is losing money." Yes, the hockey team always loses money. That's what it's there for. Now, how are all the other things you got when you bought the hockey team doing, Doug?
  2. 7,691 announced as the crowd tonight in Sunrise. In related statistical news, I have a 14-inch penis.
  3. Might push the Panthers' TV viewership all the way up from 3,000 to 3,500, if enough people pick the home feed over the Coyotes' on Center Ice.
  4. The false equivalencies between the Panthers' current situation and the Blackhawks' former one are dumbfounding. The only way you could make the comparison is by knowing of hockey history whatsoever and just looking up attendance numbers on HockeyDB. The only common thread they share is Dale Tallon, and he only comes into play if the Panthers try to fax their demands to the county.
  5. The Panthers don't actually want to leave, though. They want to build a hotel and casino on their property, and they want a drastic increase in the hotel tax that directly funds the Panthers, so they can kick that money back to themselves, all while convincing Broward County not to scrap the advantageous lease deal that still has 14 years on it. They're working the con here.
  6. Remember that the Panthers have been drawing like this for quite some time. It;s just advantageous for them now to stop padding the numbers and go with the actual turnstile count, so that they can more convincingly beg Broward County for a couple hundred million more dollars in taxpayer money when the time comes. They may average under 10,000 for the season.
  7. KeyArena, in its "best" configuration for hockey, holds about 11,000. It was deemed no longer good enough for the WHL a few years back. It is not good enough for the NHL unless a shiny new rink is guaranteed to open within two seasins of a team arriving.
  8. With every former CHLer a free agent and contracts under PHPA rules, I could see one or two of the Central 7 biting it mid-season.
  9. I think Peoria will be back in the ECHL in short order once this merger/absorption gets hashed out. It'll be a better draw with more dates, and they'll have an excellent geographic setup.
  10. I think they have to go the full five years, regardless of how quickly they hit the $50 million of red ink. Unless they renegotiate with Glendale's city council, which can never be ruled out.
  11. With the 30-30-30 setup taking place, it's development above all now. The "talented for their level" guys will be forced to ply their trade in Europe and/or Asia.
  12. The Coyotes lost $24 million last season, and are for sale again. Get your calliopes. http://nypost.com/2014/10/02/spurned-islanders-buyer-to-purchase-coyotes-instead/
  13. They'd forever have been the "Pitfall" jerseys if they'd done that.
  14. We're two weeks away from seasons starting. A merger/CeHL absorption is logisitcally impossible for the 2014-15 season.
  15. So the Rams had the custom numerals for the unveil and the preseason, went to block numbers for the regular season, and then back to the custom ones for the following season? That's even stranger than I remember. Did they ever actually use Berthold City for the nameplates, as was the case on replica jerseys for the first couple of years?
  16. I think it's fair to say the Panthers are in play now. No arena and no owner in Las Vegas. No arena and no owner in Seattle. Meanwhile, in Québec City...
  17. That puts the CHL at 7 teams, and Brampton shouldn't survive the week, honestly, so 6, just like the old Fake IHL. Missouri looks like a definite to survive, and probably Wichita and Tulsa make it to the ECHL absorption, assuming they want to go. Rapid City may go to juniors because it'll be a better geographic fit. For Allen & Quad City, it's probably juniors or death.
  18. Yes, and Tampa came about it legitimately: by Japanese fake-corporate ownership acting as a front for the Yakuza! It still amazes me that the only reason this league has Florida and Anaheim in the first place is that Bruce McNall baited Wayne Huizenga and Michael Eisner into a dick-measuring contest, as part of his efforts to stave off the inevitable.
  19. http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/539519 The Panthers were already locked into a lease agreement with more early-termination penalties that the Coyotes' free pass. Now it appears officials in Sunrise may have more stones and sense than their Glendale counterpart when it comes to their hockey team begging for taxpayer money.
  20. So maybe they'll do something about all that raw sewage now? And no, I don't mean Raiders fans.
  21. I like the way the "B" and the "L" interlock, but that's about it. Rest of it feels substandard.
