  1. Not MLB but, I've been hearing this about the Argos for years and years and a new stadium hasn't helped them. Obviously different sport, different city, heck, different country. I'm just skeptical about that argument.
  2. In the past, a .xls (excel) file was able to be posted. The files are still available now (see the "final league spreadsheets" in the attached link) but I can not post any new excel files now. Am I overlooking something? Or is posting this type of file just no longer available? Thanks!
  3. my mistake, for some reason I thought they did not win it in 2014-15 (first ECHL year). Guess I should have looked it up before posting.
  4. They just won the championship last season with that name. Timing seems weird to me.
  5. There's a post count that needs to be met. The FAQ section, item #13 explains this:
  6. Don't think I've chimed in here yet. MLS: Toronto FC. I'll never forget when Toronto was awarded an expansion team. I grew up a fan of soccer because of my Dutch background and finally professional soccer was coming to Toronto. If I had to choose one team over all this is my favorite. English soccer: Spurs. Rafael Vander Vaart is probably my all time favorite soccer player. At the time of me really getting into the premiership he was there. I've been a fan since. Eredivisie: PSV Eindhoven. Most of my family is from Eindhoven. That said my great uncle was really involved with the supporters group for FC Zwolle (in fact when he passed a couple years ago they paid tribute to him in the stadium) . So they are a close #2 NHL: Colorado Avalanche. Roy, Sakic and, Forsberg. Need I say more? Now my fave in the league is there in Duchene (played junior for my home town Battalion when they were in Brampton). NLL: Toronto rock. Besides the hometown squad; my uncles high school friend: Jim Venkman played for the rock. Gave us tickets once and I was hooked! I love lacrosse. NFL: Buffalo Bills. Growing up my dad was a Winnipeg boy and apparently the Bombers and Vikings ended up with a lot of similar talent. Bombers who played well would end up with the Vikings. So I became a Vikings fan. Then I went to my first game live in Buffalo. The rest was history. Go Bills! (I also love the city of Buffalo.) Otherwise; it's all home town teams. Raptors, Jays, Rush, Argos and, the ECHL's Brampton Beast. Also.....I'm moving to Kelowna, BC in less than a year now. So I'm trying to get into the WHL now and following the Rockets. So let's add them to this list too.
  7. I noticed that about the Canucks as well. Lots with neon green too.
  8. Especially when they think they've got the real deal and are bragging how cheap they got it. I was wearing a road Blue Jays jersey (Romero) on sunday at the batting cages and a guy came up to me and asked why I haven't bought a new one yet (I have bought a new one actually not that he'd know) so I said told him "they aren't cheap" hoping to leave it at that and walk away. He calls his son over and goes "dude you need to know where to go" and shows me his son's crappy knock off. The font was all wrong and I was just like "whatever you paid, it was too much. That's a knockoff." He wasn't having it and went on about how it's real and I should stop "giving Rogers money when it's available for cheaper". I left it alone and said "ok, have a good day." but it's just like...come on man. Worst part is this happens so often, why do people feel the need to brag about their :censored:ty knockoffs?
  9. Unless he is counting the last two that were goalless after 90?? Those, IMO, were the best ones. He said: "Most WC finals end in 0-0 and a penalty shoot out" It's happened once, ever. Somewhat Ironically in 1994 when the US hosted. But yes, I agree those were some of the best games. Granted the Dutch loss in South Africa was also the most painful, lol.
  10. Yeah... that's it. All those 0-0 final scores
  11. ^ Yeah, coming back to this thread today, I think that I just misread that statement. My bad.
  12. Brampton currently has an ECHL team, I'm not sure I follow this statement. I mean, I won't be surprised if the team folds because, well, attendance is :censored:. Besides a pocket schedule available at in line at the beer store, I haven't seen much advertisement for the team either. And I drive by the arena daily (on my way to and from work)
  13. And the Beast (or the new bulldogs..or whatever) move to the AHL? But with what players? Gotta have an affiliation. I had thought earlier today that there was some traction for Ottawa moving the B-Sens to Hamilton, but then I saw that they re-upped in Bingo till 2019. That was going to be my next question, lol. The Beast are bad, like really bad, even for an ECHL team, they can't possibly think that they would be able to transition to the AHL.
  14. And the Beast (or the new bulldogs..or whatever) move to the AHL?
  15. Outside of an affiliation with the Leafs (or maybe the Sabres) I would bet my pay cheque that they will be gone. Besides the last-ditch effort by the CeHL it was also a last-ditch attempt by our former mayor to have a team for our arena here. I've heard that the mayor/city played hardball with the Battalion to increase the rent but as soon as they left town the rent was halved or more to get this team to come to Brampton.
  16. I'm from Brampton. I've gone to a couple games this year. Trust me, they aren't averaging 2,000. They tarp off sections of a 5,000 seat arena and the place is rarely half full. I generally buy seats in a corner section because that means I get the section pretty much to myself. I interviewed with the team for a sales position (before the season) and I turned it down because the team basically said that they guaranteed 2 to 4 weeks of work, which sounded like cold calling for season seats. So this internship thing doesn't surprise me. It's a joke, I have story after story about this team in their year and a half that just goes to show it's been a joke since day one. Unless they become the Leafs ECHL affiliate, I don't see a chance this team is around next season.
  17. Exactly!! 6 teams, play each team once, top four move on to a semi final, then finals (which apparently is going to be a best-of-3). Done. If the NHL really wants, they could develop a "B" tournament where the bottom team in the "A" tournament gets swapped out the next time it's contested with the winner of the "B" tournament. I mean, if they actually are trying to grow the sport world-wide like they claim they are. The World Championships already do that. I didn't say it was an original idea. I'm saying it's just easy and makes sense.

  19. Speaking to that "honored not retired their number" thing, the Leafs do that. They only have retired numbers 5 (Bill Barilko) & 6 (Ace Bailey)
  20. Even when there was a junior "a" team in Brampton that I used to go watch (because my house league team got the ice after their games) every Wednesday we had to wait until play stopped to go to our seat.
  21. The CHL has a history of coming down harder only players than the NHL and if I'm being honest, I like it. I think the NHL should do the same. Look, say what you will about tinder being what it is (and I have been on it in the past, it's stupid and just a waste of time. A online dating "wasteland".) but the simple fact is this: #1: cyber-bullying is not a joke. Be it what the guys said or what the girls said in this situation, they are both wrong to hide behind their phone screen and think it's ok. This is still real life. #2: These players are in the public eye. Knowing that, they need to act appropriately no matter if it's in person or online. End of story.
  22. Here is the information that the ECHL tweeted would be provided.
  23. ECHL ‏@ECHL 25m25 minutes ago The #ECHL will announce the revised divisional alignment and format for the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs today at 3 p.m. ET
  24. Having gone to a few games and seeing the attendance, I can see that happening.
  25. Based on that report, the ECHL will take all the CHL teams left. Interesting. I did not see that coming. Should be interesting to see if the CHL teams have to adjust their rosters based on the ECHL rules this year or they will get 1 season leeway to adjust.
