  1. If there's one way to somehow make the Columbus Blue Jackets Franchise worse, it's to put them in with Chicago, Detroit, AND Pittsburgh.
  2. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but couldn't he have gotten a custom current jersey with SANDBERG on it? I mean I'm not saying it wasn't a fake, but I don't think that's evidence of it being a fake. I don't think so. I'm pretty sure MLB doesn't allow you to customize current jerseys with retired players' names, managers/coaches names, etc. The NFL, NHL and MLB don't allow retired players' names and numbers on customized jerseys (the NBA does, however). Pretty sure you can get an aftermarket job done from a place like River City Sports or any of the other sites that do post-purchase customizing, though. That's really stupid, then. What if a player with an extremely common surname (like Johnson or Smith or Jones) retires? Then the only fans who can get a customized jersey for that team have to be the ones without that name? Some guy named Jim Johnson can't get his name on a jersey then? I believe it's through licensing of the Players' Associations, which retired players would not be a part of.
  3. Not to be a dick but so? Not saying anything myself, but as I saw there was some discussion regarding these things, I decided to post them. I got this information from an employee of a store that sold strictly sports jerseys. Not sure if the $8 included wages (probably not).
  4. For the record, I believe it costs RBK $8 to produce NFL replicas, which they sell for ~$35 to the retailers.
  5. Also, I think that's a Rev30 jock tag, which would not have been on the Sonics' jerseys. The kerning on the seattle looks off.
  6. I've heard it but haven't personally seen it. Even a big place out here like Denver Autographs has the knockoffs for sale with autographs on them. It's more the throwbacks than anything current, but it's really a problem that's getting bigger. I don't understand why players would knowingly sign a knockoff considering they know what an authentic is because they wear them for their jobs. I would think overall that would bring the value of the signature down. I'd rather have them sign a well-made replica than a crappy knockoff authentic. I guess ultimately it just comes down to price. Most people don't care about true authentic jerseys as long as they can get a good deal on something else. I have to wonder though, if the market gets saturated with enough Chinese knockoff jerseys, will the price of the real authentics come down in order to compete. The store I saw out here had a bunch of Bears, Packers, Vikings, Browns, Steelers, and Dolphins knockoff jerseys all on a rack. All on "sale" for $59.99. This was the quality of them...which isn't bad, but you can tell it's a knockoff: NOTE - This is not a photo I took at the store. It is a photo I saw online that looks exactly like what I saw at the store...tags and all! The letters, numbers and logos on the jersey are a dead give away. The longer those jerseys are worn and the more they are washed the worse the quality gets. Also the stitching on the numbers and letters is not the correct (dare I say iconic) zig-zag pattern that we are used to seeing. Also, the athletes might not be signing those jerseys, the autographs could be fakes too. See, but I'm aware of it. It's a matter of are other customers aware? I mean, there's not much I can do anyway. Should I stand outside of the store with my own authentic, replica, and "swingman" jerseys to show would-be customers what the differences are from the Chinese fakes? I bet I'd get kicked out real fast. All kidding aside though, I'm debating writing to teams when I see stores selling fakes. I could tell the Chicago Bears of this store since it's in their area. Write to the mall's developer if it's at a shopping center. Odds are they don't really want fake products being sold at their properties.
  7. These schools can still play these rivalry games out of their league. There are non-conference schools, after all...
  8. I love it when teams go navy/black helmet, lighter dark shade of jersey (yellow, red, etc) and then white pants. This example and the Falcons come to mind immediately. Just looks good. But I hate it when teams go from white helmet to intermediate jersey to dark pants, like the Titans. Just no.
  9. Just to follow up on this. Missouri could decide on SEC by Thursday. What the University of Missouri decides does not really matter! What the 12 current SEC universities decide IS what matters. Unless they decide not to apply... then it kind of does matter what they decided.
  10. But it is the University of Oklahoma. Pisses me off that they use "OU". (Same with Colorado, I believe.)
  11. Now its just getting ridiculous. If that is the direction this realignment is going to take place, then what is the point of even having conferences? It's just their last ditch effort to maintain their BCS AQ status. May it fail miserably. Ai Obviously... but wouldn't it almost be better to try and pick up some MAC schools that going out to Boise State and Air Force? I mean, are they really thinking that flying across the country can maintain conference stability? MAC schools aren't going to help them retain AQ status when it runs out in 2 years. After the 2013-14 season, they'll basically be reevaluated. These schools give them a better chance at saying an AQ conference, however I think they're gonna end up losing Louisville, Cincinnati and UWV to probably the Big XII, maybe UWV to the SEC if they go 16, and even possibly USF to the Big XII. So I think they're gonna end up losing they're AQ status or folding as a football conference altogether. What is UWV? UWV is an autonomous administrative authority (ZBO) and is commissioned by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment (SZW) to implement employee insurances and provide labour market and data services. The Dutch employee insurances are provided for via laws such as the WW (Unemployment Insurance Act), the WIA (Work and Income according to Labour Capacity Act, which contains the IVA (Full Invalidity Benefit Regulations) and WGA (Return to Work (Partially Disabled) Regulations)), the Wajong (Disablement Assistance Act for Handicapped Young Persons), the WAO (Invalidity Insurance Act), the WAZ (Self-employed Persons Disablement Benefits Act), the WAZO (Work and Care Act) and the Sickness Benefits Act. Or, the University of West Virginia. No, it's West Virginia University. WVU.

  13. Yeah, always use the "direct link" to post - welcome!
  14. This means UConn to the ACC is a fait accompli. The Big East is dead. Why would the ACC want UConn? UConn has no fanbase. That fact was shown to be painfully obvious at the Final Four this past March. CBS had to pay students from nearby Rice to dress up in UConn gear and root for the Huskies because there were huge chunks of empty seats in the UConn student section. Consider this: Butler has an enrollment of around 4,000 and yet they still managed to get fans from Indy to Houston to root for the team during the Final Four. With a bunch of rich-ass mother:censored:ers that go there.
  15. Is knowingly purchasing counterfeit materials illegal? I don't see how you don't see an issue with IP theft, loogodude. You're cheating people out of literally millions of dollars - how the hell can you compare that to speeding? You wouldn't sit there and say what Bernie Madoff did was just as bad as going 7 mph over the speed limit, would you...?
  16. ACC should swap Duke with them. A little taste of your own medicine. Richmond would be better than Duke? The same school that has an 8,000 seat stadium would bring in more money than one of the richest universities in the country, not to mention the biggest tv draws (in terms of basketball) in the country. They should be ousted for an FCS school? Yeah, good luck with that. That Joke. Your Head.
  17. Good luck with that. They just built Robins Stadium two years ago. Very true. I think JMU or ODU would be more likely to move up to the FBS level, in all honesty. Both have facilities that would qualify. The question is whether there is the will at either school to compete at that level. ODU's football team has no prestige as it was just started two years ago. JMU probably won't go either, largely because Harrisonburg, VA is located somewhere between nowhere and purgatory. Both are pretty tied into their regional rivalries in the CAA. If anything, I think all of the Virginia CAA football schools will probably go as a bundle (ODU, JMU, W&M, UR). Considering that I'm pretty sure ODU's plan is to eventually be FBS, they might go... I could be wrong, though.
  18. Maryland's a strong athletic department that would help them grow BTN. As much as I've advocated against it in this thread, the B1G should probably pursue Missouri at this point, though.
  19. Same here. I think of Johnson as a Diamondback over anything else.
  20. The Pac-12's already told Texas that they'd have to drop the Longhorn Network in order to be admitted to the conference, something the Longhorns aren't willing to do. Boise State isn't a top academic institution, and doesn't bring in as much money for the league as, say, one of the Kansas schools even would. They play in a 30,000-seat stadium, in a small media market, and just about every sport other than football would be finishing in the bottom 1/4 of the conference.
  21. Not sure if this means they're not going to pursue more teams until another conference adds more teams and they have to do it or what. Unless Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Boise State ask to join... then we'll cream in our pants. lol, what? Boise State wouldn't make sense at all for the PAC. Texas's TV network really keeps them for being in. Maybe the PAC would go after the Oklahoma schools, but I'd rather them not, and I don't think they will right now to be honest.
  22. Three trips to the SEC Championship game in 20 years is hardly something to aspire to. Considering there's 6 teams in the division, with a level playing field, each team would be expected to make the Championship game 3 1/3 times over 20 years. I'd say they're doing just fine.
