  1. Glad they're at least keeping the same typeface for another jersey. No more type churn! But I wonder how this would've looked with a red back and navy printing.
  2. Unpopular opinion but I don’t much like white-dark-white vs. dark-white-dark matchups, a little hard to watch. That said, I also don’t care much about the shorts clashing and feel like Germany could’ve worn black shorts without issue here (since France don’t seem to have white shorts with this kit).
  3. I like Austria’s black and teal in theory as something that is at least relatively different for the international game. But that shirt does not go with the set at all.
  4. Feels like every Euro group stage is 3/4 red v white, so it goes.
  5. The Eriksen thing was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen during a sporting event and I couldn’t stop thinking about it watching other games, honestly.
  6. Turkey is usually a white primary, aren’t they? Interesting. Italy has the sharpest drop off from home kit to away kit this tournament so too bad for us!
  7. That’s one misstep, but the only egregious one for a Nike team. (And far from the first time England switch to blue for a cycle, though bad timing for it for a tournament with a match vs Scotland.)
  8. Group F is the group of death both on and off the pitch; I’d say Portugal, France and Germany are my faves of the bunch. Italy is close, especially if they use that green third instead of the crappy template away. Nike really won the manufacturers’ tournament.
  9. What a saga. Shame for me but you shouldn’t screw up national colors as a federation. On that note, does Euro release kit matchups ahead of time?
  10. They have tried to build a SSS in or near Boston proper through the years, though there is some debate as to how serious or competent those efforts have been. But yeah, playing at Gillette rent-free means the urgency is not as severe as it was for say, DCU, and it’s perfectly serviceable as a soccer stadium. At this point I no longer expect the Revs to ever move out, unfortunately.
  11. I enjoy drinking a lot so mass transit is always preferable to me. This as much as anything is why I have historically been lukewarm on MLS. But there are like barely 10-15 markets in North America where public transit is even a realistic option and Tampa is not one as far as I know?
  12. Knowing what we know now about environmental effects and urban policy— the multipurpose stadiums had a point. Keep the Trop!
  13. Some cities have managed downtown and/or transit accessible NFL stadia — Baltimore, Philly, Seattle come to mind that I know of. Gillette would have wound up in Boston if the Brady era began a few years earlier and the team knew how things worked in the state house. Now, whether that’s a good idea is another question; last time I was in Minneapolis pre-pandemic the new Vikings stadium was shocking, and not in a good way.
  14. Is my phone calibration off or is North Macedonia using a maroon or burgundy color as their primary shirt? Nice and distinctive if so.
  15. I’ve felt the same since the highlight shows pivoted away from highlights, which was what, 15 years ago? part of the reason why the value of RSNs continues to amaze, because to me any sports channel is useful for maybe 15 hours of programming a week max. I still have the website bookmarked. Mostly for scores, but even there, finding the reporting and the rare useful analysis means scrolling past three Screamin A videos at any given time. if not for the usefulness of scores and schedules, ESPN would be fully jettisoned for me in favor of the Atheltic, Defector and my local.
  16. Leading off with a reference to a Chance The Rapper SNL sketch is probably not a great sign of his genuine enthusiasm for the NHL. Which is fine except that ESPN thinks Stephen A. yelling is what counts as coverage.
  17. Hockey fans wanted that ESPN attention; well, enjoy your Stephen A. takes.
  18. I was hoping McDonough would stick around his part-time gig as Red Sox radio guy. Ah well!
  19. The Fox glow puck was nothing compared to Baby Yoda in his little floaty ship thing following the action around the ice.
  20. So the “Marvel Edition” broadcasts we’re stuck with huh?
  21. Good point! Are the auto auctions going to Peacock? Is auto auction nation as mad about this as American EPL fans are? I just don’t want anyone to miss seeing their ideal 1972 sage green Thunderbird on television.
  22. I don’t even get why it’s played at a faux-pro level. Just play tennis...?
  23. Very busy sports calendar right now but CBS Sports Network has been on a professional pickleball marathon tonight.
  24. that weird TNT Champions League era was so abrupt and bad that I thought any more new sports were way off the table, one reason this NHL move surprised me. Too bad for them that Steve Nash got a real job!
  25. This is a very predictable crossover event, given all the self mythologizing they’ve been doing about Inside the NBA, and I hate it. Speaking of, Candace Parker needs to be on the flagship nights for that show in Shaq’s place next year.
