  1. My prediction if the Big XII dissolves: - Kansas State, Baylor, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech to the PAC-12(ish). (Oklahoma, Ok State, Texas and Texas Tech were often thought to go to the PAC, so I could see simply subbing K-State and Baylor) - Kansas and Iowa State to Big Ten - West Virginia to ACC (along with maybe Cincinnati from the AAC unless they get Notre Dame to join for football) - TCU ? (Probably American)
  2. They will never NOT be the Big Ten.
  3. 1. Texas and OU went to the SEC and asked to be let in. It's not like the SEC sought them out. 2. Although expanding, the SEC geographical footprint is pretty mild compared to some. Oklahoma and Texas are often considered part of "The South", and really although Missouri is the only state not considered part of the region, the southern part where I've lived pretty much my whole life, is not far from the south. We border Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee. In fact, there is no state in the SEC separated from another SEC state, i.e. West Virginia from the rest of the Big XII.
  4. Depends on when his friend, the former player, played.
  5. The franchises still exist within the league. They basically took over everything from the 2020 league. It never ceased to exist. Just shut down, like every other league, and then sold to new owners. The only thing may be the players, and they're constantly changing anyway. If new players and new owners determined the continuity of leagues, then every league would be "new" constantly.
  6. Came across this article and not sure if it was posted or the quote portion, but it appears it's gonna be Oakland or Vegas: https://news3lv.com/news/local/oakland-as-continuing-eyeing-las-vegas-as-a-future-home "We’re not going to any other cities," said Oakland A's President Dave Kaval. "We felt like Las Vegas and Southern Nevada made a ton of sense with the success of the other teams, the business-friendly climate, the entertainment capital of the world."
  7. Did you install spyware on my computer?
  8. Before the addition of Arizona and Tampa Bay in 1998, Detroit was in the East and Cleveland was in the Central.
  9. Waterfront stadium on Table Rock Lake? With the hills as a backdrop? Nice. Although, (and I know this was a joke), the Springfield Cardinals would still outdraw the A's.
  10. Don't worry about mine. Small price to pay for this heavenly experience. I feel like Elaine driving in the lanes after Kramer widened them on that episode of Seinfeld. So roomy and comfortable.
  11. Yeah, I re-read over that part, but eventually saw it and PM'd him.
  12. Ok. I've never used Patreon before and just signed up and paid. Now... How exactly do I access the ad-free version site?
  13. It will always be big brother (SF)/little brother (Other), but I believe it can work. It just seems that, now, San Jose is the ideal second city to San Francisco. So while it's very possible, it's just not probable given circumstances that are business-related and not necessarily market viability-related.
  14. The A’s never had the rights to San Jose. They were given to the Giants as a condition of the A’s being allowed to move to Oakland. So, no. Because the Giants have no interest in giving up those territorial rights.
  15. INLAND EMPIRE: Outside chance if they were really open to a 3rd LA-area team. Though, you have to remember, the Padres are Southern California, too, so that would be FOUR teams in the SoCal region. So doubtful. SAN ANTONIO & AUSTIN (One or the other, basically close enough to be considered one market): Possibility. PORTLAND: Strong Possibility. SACRAMENTO: Not really. LAS VEGAS: Strong Possibility. VANCOUVER: Outside chance. Mariners would probably veto it due to the proximity to Seattle. SAN JOSE: Giants will never allow it since they control the rights. So, no. OKC: No chance. SALT LAKE CITY: Not really. TUCSON: Not in a million years.
  16. Yeah, that makes no sense. This isn't a Sonics-OKC situation where the success of a multi-team market is there, it's just a stadium issue, but the new owner wants to move the team to his hometown. This is a "pretty much no possibility of ever getting a new stadium, and also the other 2 major teams jumped ship" situation. When the A's leave, Oakland's done.
  17. The Giants won't let them move to San Jose, so that's already off the board. You also gotta think about the Rays. What are they gonna do? That 2027 end of lease is not far away, especially when you consider selecting locations and stadium plans. Seems like the A's are always suspected to stay in the west and the Rays in central/east.
  18. Both leagues have very different game rules. How are they gonna do this? This isn't something like the DH where you simply have someone else bat for the pitcher. The fields are even laid out in different dimensions and the goal posts are in different placements.
  19. Holy 1970s children's western-themed after school educational show, Batman!
  20. MLB 20.... something. League expands to Portland (or Las Vegas, as they're interchangeable in the alignment below) and Nashville. And, by some stroke of luck, both Oakland AND Tampa Bay remain where they are after the Rays are able to secure a new stadium across the bay to open at the conclusion of their Tropicana Field lease after the 2027 season (suspension of disbelief here, folks). In addition to the two expansion teams, Colorado and Tampa Bay are swapped between the NL and AL for the purpose of making the divisions make more sense, which is less impactful negatively with the universal DH in place. NATIONAL LEAGUE WEST SOUTH CENTRAL EAST Arizona Diamondbacks Atlanta Braves Chicago Cubs New York Mets Los Angeles Dodgers Miami Marlins Cincinnati Reds Philadelphia Phillies San Diego Padres NASHVILLE STARS Milwaukee Brewers Pittsburgh Pirates San Francisco Giants Tampa Bay Rays St. Louis Cardinals Washington Nationals AMERICAN LEAGUE WEST SOUTH CENTRAL EAST Los Angeles Angels Colorado Rockies Chicago White Sox Baltimore Orioles Oakland Athletics Houston Astros Cleveland Indians Boston Red Sox PORTLAND/(LAS VEGAS) Kansas City Royals Detroit Tigers New York Yankees Seattle Mariners Texas Rangers Minnesota Twins Toronto Blue Jays In all the realignments I do, this seems to be the least "invasive". To go from six divisions of five to 8 divisions of four, there's obviously going to be some movement. But this one keeps it to a minimum while maintaining quite a bit of continuity. Of the current six divisions, four simply have one team removed and in all those cases, one could argue that they are the geographical outlier of the division. So many of the division rivalries remain. And in the cases where they aren't, they remain in the same league (save for Colorado and Tampa Bay) and are aligned in a division that just makes more geographical sense.
  21. Conference additions have nothing to do with team success. It's about money, tv markets (which is essentially, money) and quality of education... to an extent... as it pertains to the conference... getting money.
  22. Been looking at various options for NBA expansion. Thought I'd do one for Seattle as a lone team. They could go to four divisions, ala the NHL, with three of 8 and one of 7 until adding a 32nd team, or the could just make one division have 6 with the other five remaining at 5. That got me thinking. Seattle would naturally slide back into the Northwest. I initially thought, and it would still work, about then moving OKC down into the Southwest with the Texas Trio, NOLA and Memphis, where they geographically fit a lot better. Then I kinda went on a merry-go-round journey that ended up with what I have below, which I think would be some divisions better aligned, relatively, of course. WESTERN CONFERENCE -PACIFIC- Golden State LA Clippers LA Lakers Phoenix Sacramento -NORTHWEST- Denver Minnesota Portland Seattle Utah -SOUTHWEST- Dallas Houston Memphis/New Orleans Oklahoma City San Antonio EASTERN CONFERENCE -CENTRAL- Chicago Cleveland Detroit Indiana Milwaukee Toronto -ATLANTIC- Boston Brooklyn New York Philadelphia Washington -SOUTHEAST- Atlanta Charlotte Memphis/New Orleans Miami Orlando Either Memphis or New Orleans would slide over to the Southeast, moving Washington into the Atlantic where they fit better and Toronto over into the Central, which is a better fit for them. Yes, Minnesota is still out of place in the Northwest, but some team is gonna be.
  23. I have literally been having this argument with my siblings and cousins on a group text all day. Ohio State should not have been in, but that was the only way the B1G wasn't getting anybody in with only half a schedule, so they changed the rules. Northwestern didn't object because they were in the championship regardless and weren't headed to the CFP. Indiana got screwed. As did Texas A&M and Cincinnati.
