  1. No, but presumably, most sports fans who live in Florida watch TV, and probably should be watching the Rays if they live in the Tampa Bay area. There's really no excuse for not going to the games, not watching the games, and then expecting a successful, contending franchise worth their salt on the field to stick around anyway.
  2. See, that's the problem... waiting for "them to come" is what got baseball into this mess. The Rays need to move to an area with demonstrated baseball interest. I know that the Vancouver Canadians have drawn really well since they were brought back in 2000... maybe it's time to give that market a shot at the major leagues. Please tell me you realized that was a reference to Field of Dreams. I... uh... haven't seen it.

  4. I have been a loyal fan of the Rays since 1998, albeit not a Tampa resident. It's abundantly clear to me that the interest is not and will never be there in Tampa. The MLB has given it a shot, but Tampa will sadly always be Yankees/Sox/Mets territory, that's been more than proven. I mean, damn... the Sonics were moved for less.
  5. Don't ruin this for me with your "facts" and "reality".
  6. And Brady Deaton stepped down as chair of the Big 12 board of directors. They're pretty much gone no matter how much the Big 12 tries to spin it. What this tells me is, if the rumors of BYU and BSU marketing themselves as a package deal are true, their chances of getting invited by the Big 12 just improved immensely. BYU has already publicly expressed interest in the Big 12, provided Oklahoma stays. However, it came out yesterday that Boise State's president has been privately lobbying to join the conference as well. Folks, we may be seeing two of the most successful mid-major programs finally get to make the big move up.
  7. However, the Rams would really look best in these.
  8. However, BYU and BSU agreed to a 12-year scheduling deal recently and there are rumors of both schools positioning themselves as a package deal.
  9. Just when you thought the game of conference musical chairs was finally over... The Big 12 is looking at adding West Virginia, Louisville, and Boise State.
  10. And considering how stacked the deck is against all non-AQ programs, elite non-AQ's are rare by design. It's Boise State, (maybe) TCU, and that's it.
  11. CUSA would benefit from a football merger with the MWC because, due to strength in numbers, a federation between both conferences would be a lock for AQ status if the Big East or Big 12 were to fold. After all, the BCS has already come out and said that it needs six power conferences in order to function and survive. And, thanks to the screwed-up system we have in college football, regardless of academics or school size, it's far more beneficial for smaller schools to not be in a mid-major conference.
  12. What CUSA/Big East merger? The only one I've heard about is the possibility of the MWC and CUSA merging in football only.
  13. LOL... if they go AQ, there's really no excuse left for keeping Boise out. ECU is located in Tar Heel and Wolfpack country, they have no signature wins in any sport (other than Miami once in the mid-'90s but that hardly matters now), Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium will be smaller than Bronco Stadium (after renovations), and ECU can't be bringing in any ratings. ECU joining the Big East has nothing to do with Boise. ECU has the opportunity to join the weakest of the BCS conferences. That has no effect whatsoever on whether Boise should get into the PAC. Hell the Big Easy may not have AQ status much longer. I didn't specify a conference. Honestly, Boise's only chance at AQ status is either the Big 12 somehow clinging on to theirs and inviting BSU, or the Big 12 folding and AQ status being granted to either the Mountain West or an MWC/CUSA federation.

  15. Here's a weird rumor: apparently the Mountain West and Conference USA are considering a "federation" setup - both conferences have separate conference play and conference championship games, but the Mountain West and Conference USA champions play each other afterwards for the BCS bowl bid. There's actually a very good chance that this MWC/CUSA combo would become AQ, since it looks like either the Big 12 or Big East will fold or at least get demoted, and the BCS feels they need six AQ conferences to survive. They'd really have no other option than to give an automatic bid to MWC/CUSA and be done with it.
  16. It was a joke, based on how Duke has lost to Richmond three times in football.
  17. Hopefully you're right, because that would be the best-case scenario for just about everyone... but I'm still mentally preparing myself for yet another screwjob courtesy of the BCS cartel.
  18. True, but what about ratings? Sure, plenty of servicemen will be watching every week, but how do you convince a general nationwide audience to watch Air Force, as opposed to non-AQ's that have actually won high-profile games and BCS bowls but still might get left out in the cold?
  19. Maybe among members of the Air Force, but not among a general nationwide audience... not even close.
  20. I think the bigger news is, the Big East was targeting AIR FORCE? I thought TCU was a sketch but JESUS, that's almost Pac-12 territory! Might as well change their name just The Big, if you're going to go that far west. How the hell is Air Force getting serious consideration for AQ status? Their market is smaller than Boise State's, considering that Colorado is Buffs country. They've also done jack compared to Boise State, TCU, or even Nevada lately. They're usually a tough team to beat but they also don't really have any signature wins.
  21. These are the best uniforms the Vikings have ever worn:
  22. Uh, Air Force is in a conference and they're a pretty competitive program.
  23. Colorado doesn't care. Besides, they're the newest member. They carry no clout whatsoever. They also suck. I'm still not sure why the PAC even wanted them. Where else are they going to go, a non-AQ conference?
